Rivener tried to think... A short woman with green hair? Hm. The Scorpion gazed upwards, scrying his memory for the woman in question... Noooo, he couldn't recall ever meeting her. Strange, you'd think he'd remember someone like that. Maybe she hadn't been to many of the Lab parties? Or maybe she and Riv hadn't crossed paths? Well, whatever it was, Riv shrugged and set it aside. Surely he'd meet her in the future.
He saw the mushroom stand not far away, and smiled as people seemed to actually get out of the way! However, their progress stalled when they were nearly there, Dayo's gaze wandering over to something at the side... Rivener couldn't find it in himself to be annoyed, somehow. He just looked over at what had Dayo so interested, and grinned as he saw the ice cream stand.
"Ice cream!" Riv said. "Roux's favorite people-food, I think. I can't eat it though, it's waaayyy too cold. Maybe you'd like it, if you like sweet things. It's very sweet." Riv floated slowly closer, looking at the flavors. "See, they even have strawberries, like earlier, only these are frozen with milk or something."

Dayo let ger gaze wander over the ice cream stand, finding the pastel colors of the ice cream pleasing to the eye along with the fizzy, happy atmosphere that surrounded it. Her eyes were crinkling with joy, and she hadn't even tried any yet - but she was confident that this was the right stand to try her first food from.
"I would like some of that," she purred, and a taloned finger pointed at a tub full of ice cream that was a mellow golden-brown. She was careful to count out the correct amount of money she needed to pay for it, giving the vendor a smile while she exchanged it for a small scoop of butterscotch.
Carefully holding it in her hand so it wouldn't fall over, she peered out at the others around the stand. Wait... how was she supposed to eat this?

Rivener watched silently as his companion bought a small serving of ice cream. She seemed so happy already, without even tasting it! Riv found his own mood turning giddy. He smothered a chuckle as he waited, arms crossed, for Dayo to try it. Butterscotch was not a flavor of ice cream Rivener had ever tried, but if it tasted anything like the candy he'd licked once, it would be WAAAYYY sweet. Dayo would most likely like it.
"Hahah, Dayo," Riv laughed again as the Eagle-frei seemed confused about what to do. He pointed at a few kids nearby who were eagerly licking and gulping at their own cones. "Like that, see? Use your tongue, and it melts on it and you can taste it then." Riv crossed his arms again, studying the Frei with amused eyes. This was probably her first human-food, wasn't it? And Rivener would get to see how she liked it. Somehow, it felt special.

Building up a pool of concentration, Dayo carefully observed the children and how they were sticking their tongues out to lap at the ice cream in their hands. Her own mouth experimentally worked itself in an attempt to mimic the motion, unused to doing anything that wasn't talking or swallowing small amounts of liquid.
A small drip of melted butterscotch streaked down over her hand by the time she tried her first experimental taste - and her eyes widened in shock. Riv was right, it was cold! Almost as frozen as Roux's feelings had been, but combined with something warmly sweet and cheerful. It was a strange taste.
It would take her a few more licks to decide if she liked the combination that 'ice cream' was.

Rivener grinned as he watched Dayo. She was attempting the motion of licking something in mid-air. Had Rivener been in possession of a libido, he'd certainly have been blushing hotly by now. As it was, the Scorpion simply found her actions funny. He laughed as she finally put her tongue on the ice cream, her eyes popping open as round as plates.
"You like it?" Riv asked, wondering if he could budge her towards the mushrooms while she ate. It was really close... With a shrug, determining that he wasn't crossing any boundaries by at least trying, Riv put a hand on Dayo's arm and gently but purposefully pulled her along as he floated forward, finally making his way to the mushroom stand.
The happy mood he seemed to have contracted from Dayo dimmed to worry, then to outright unhappiness as he realized that the mushrooms Aphi had sent him to buy were -gulp- sold out! "Ah crap. ...I shouldn't have wasted so much time, maybe?" Riv sighed, running a hand through his hair. He'd have to explain... Well at least he could bring back SOME mushrooms. Picking a kind at random, Riv pointed and gave the man all the money. "However much of that kind I can get for this much money," he explained.
The man blinked at the pair of floating torsos but just nodded and set to work weighing out the fungus.
Riv turned red eyes to his companion, smiling somewhat. "Well at least I got to meet you, so it's worth getting into a little trouble. I think I'll have to go home after this, but can I meet your guardian before I go?"

"Ice cream is very cold," the eagle said in response, but after getting used to it she seemed more amused by it than anything else. It was almost making her mouth go numb, but that just encouraged her to try taking bigger bites of it so she could enjoy the sweet taste. She drifted along with Rivener without complaint, paying only half attention to where they were going while tentatively biting at the crispy cone.
Rivener's sudden pang of unhappiness made Dayo pause mid-bite, but the little tendrils of gloom in her mind were quickly seared away by her usually sunny attitude when she was asked about her guardian. It was obvious she was beyond happy to introduce someone to her caretaker.
Her eyes scanned across the area, the small claws on her free hand waving idly as she searched for a spot of green - Mouse was so small that she had an easy time being lost in a crowd, were it not for the habit she had of dying her hair... "My guardian is over there!"
A claw pointed at a stand some yards away, where a green-haired girl with a cheeky little grin seemed to be haggling with a shopkeeper over a set of wrenches. She was gesturing quite animatedly with one of her own, causing nearby shoppers to keep a safe distance in case the mechanic got a little too enthusiastic.

Rivener easily spotted the green-haired woman once Dayo pointed her out. Red eyes blinked in startlement as he watched the woman (girl?) wave a wrench about, the man at the stall sometimes lifting his hands defensively just in case the tool flew out of the slender lady's grip.
"Your mushrooms, uhm... sir." The fungus vendor announced, handing over a medium-sized brown bag filled with the product Riv had pointed at.
The Scorpion picked up the bag almost without paying attention, too busy grinning at the green-haired woman. "Well, let's go meet her, then!" Riv replied, tucking his purchase under an arm and floating towards the wrench-selling stall.
"Are you going to introduce me, or are you too busy eating?" the Dark Frei asked with a chuckle as they neared, somehow feeling compelled to smooth his hair back a bit and try to make a good impression. He didn't even really realize he was doing it.

Mouse twirled around on her feet muttering something about not wanting a simple tool at the price of a family heirloom, and she was quick to notice the approach of her charge and the older Frei. Her expression instantly changed from bitter amusement at how insanely overpriced those tools were to a more friendly brand of happiness, jogging towards the two to close the distance between them.
"Rivener! Didn't think you'd run into you here... you didn't strike me as much of a shopping type. You met Dayo, then?" she asked, her hand with the wrench rotating in the air to point at her Raevan. After appraising the two for a moment sh gave a small grin and added, "It looks like you had fun." Not that such a thing was hard with Dayo, who was practically sunshine and smiles incarnate - a direct contradiction of both her fel essence and soul, which was something that would always be downright baffling.
A few locks of hair tangled in the eagle girl's wrist guard when she lifted an arm to point at her half-eaten treat. "Rivener showed me ice cream!" she said, with obvious joy at her new discovery.
"Ice cream, huh?" the mechanic replied with a lifted eyebrow, adjusting her glasses with her free hand. "Nice choice. Just be careful with the cone since you don't have a stomach yet, alright?" She was glad that Rivener had helped Ekundayo to find something new that she could enjoy... but she also didn't want to think about how a Frei would handle food that it couldn't digest yet. It would be better to leave that as a mystery instead of a potential problem they'd need Dr. Kyou or Dr. Tsu to correct.

Rivener smiled as Mouse came to meet them, pleased by the expression on the green-haired woman. Half the time, Riv still expected guardians to look downright angry that Rivener had befriended their Raevan, especially given the Scorpion's recent accident at home.
He ran a hand through his hair and shrugged, not really knowing what he should say about the shopping bit. He DID shop sometimes, but perhaps he looked too antisocial to go out? "Aphi sent me for stuff," the Frei offered as an explanation.
When Dayo burst out happily about her ice cream, Riv snickered. "I didn't have any, and I didn't really show her the ice cream, she found it by herself. But I did help her figure out how to eat it! Dayo's really nice. You guys should come over sometime and visit! Aphismet and Isikoro and Eiry would be glad to meet her too." Rivener smiled, obviously still catching onto Dayo's good mood that was lashing out mercilessly.
"I gotta go home though, Aphi's waiting for these... I was glad to meet you, Dayo! And it was nice to see you again too, Mouse!" Riv hesitated for a moment before leaning over and lightly giving Dayo a hug, trying to keep his mind from noticing how soft certain parts were.
