Like a scientist examining a specimen. That was one way to describe how Iorek was watching Rivener. Every little motion the other made, Iorek made note to try at some point. Of course, he didn’t know it, but he would probably forget these actions before he left the Delaran home. After all, he was still very little. Names were really the only thing that he remembered clearly. Everything else but a few short words were blurry and lost in his mind.

Yet his forgetfulness did not mean that he didn’t know how to pull off an action when it was just a few minutes fresh from being demonstrated. Oh no. He just struggled with recalling this said action later on.

So when it came time for him to show Rivener what he had just collected from his tugging and lifting motion, Iorek knew exactly what to do. Slowly as he wasn’t a very fast raevan Iorek took Rivener’s place before the plant. First his large fingers wrapped around and took hold over the poor little tree’s brown neck. In the process of doing so, one of his claws on the lowest hand nearly ripped the top part of the tree off before he could even try pulling it out of the ground. It came close, but luckily the tree did not break. Yet. One tug, heck it wasn’t even a tug! Iorek’s muscles flexed for a second and his hands gave a little sign of motion and just like that the tree was ripped out of the ground. The skinny tree, roots and all with pieces of fresh dirt falling from the white whiskers, lied limp in Iorek’s mighty hands. He had done it without even realizing it.

Iorek could only stare at the tree. With his lips drawn in a tight line and eyes just looking over the tree, Iorek turned to Rivener to show him what he had done. Was this what he wanted him to do? Had he done it right? What exactly was this thing he held in his hands? It felt strange and looked very odd.

“Iorek!”

The raevan turned to look at Tyson and then to Lillian who were both standing in the same stance. They looked like two little twin statues because their eyes were both wide and there mouths hung open in the exact same way.

The two little twin statues as Iorek called them were both in shock. Neither believed he was that strong to rip out a growing tree with so little as a tug. It wasn’t even so much as a tug but a jerk. Alex was right! He was really strong. While Lillian worried over if Aphi would be mad, Tyson couldn’t help but wonder what else their new raevan could do.

Iorek smiled at them both and waved the tree at them both seeming to say, “Look what I did. Are you happy?”. He didn’t know any better he thought they would be proud and wanted him to do it just as much as Rivener did.

“Aphi.” Lillian quickly turned back to the young man. With hands clasped together Lillian bowed her head in sorrow as she said. “I’m so sorry. I’ll plant another one for you. He just doesn’t know any better.” For a brief moment Lillian felt a twinge of sickness come over her as she thought of what else Iorek was capable of as well as how angry Aphi might be over what he had done. Sure they had known Aphi for a while now but this was his home and Lillian knew she wouldn’t be very thrilled if someone ripped something out of her lawn. The same could be said for Aphismet if he too was protective over his belongings.

Rivener had been completely still with excitement as Iorek slowly moved to the tree. Those large stony fists curled around the bark and with hardly any effort at all Iorek pulled upwards, ripping the sapling out with a soft churning of the earth below.

Rivener instantly burst out laughing victoriously, clapping his hands. "Yaaay!!! Good job! Aww, Tyson, don't be a spoil-sport! Where's your sense of adventure? Come on, let's find something heavier for him to lift!" Rivener instantly took off through the field looking for something suitable. A large rock would do, or a heavy lawn ornament or... Red eyes spotted Aphismet's car. That might be a bit much, but the Scorpion's lips twisted up into a grin instantly anyway. "Come over here!" he called, waving from the side of the house. "Iorek, come here! Tyson, you too!"

Aphismet had blinked as the Raevan pulled up the small tree. As soon as Riv began cheering and the Maevins frowned and rebuked their charge, Aphi turned his head down and pinched the bridge of his nose. "No, no, Lil. It's okay, not your fault. I'll make RIV fix anything he breaks so it's okay to let Iorek play. Better here than at your house with all the priceless artifacts, right?" Aphi added with a nervous grin before he heard Riv call from the side of the house. The white-haired man frowned over at his Frei. "What now," he asked, heading over there, worried about Rivener taking the other Raevan to the front of the house. "Rivener! Don't break things! Don't make Iorek break things!"

"Naw, naw, it'll be fine!" Riv waved off Aphi's protests confidently.

“Sense of adventure? Rivener, all you’re doing is making a mess! I’m not in the mood to get into trouble!” Tyson barked angrily at the cheery raevan’s tone. Without another word the boy crossed his arms, puffed out his cheeks, and glared at the ground. Seeming to take the route of pouting, this sudden strike only lasted for a whole five seconds. When those five seconds were up he was off and following after the scorpion raevan. Sure, he was still complaining in hushed tones over what Rivener was making Iorek do but it was better than standing around like a baby who was ready to have a tantrum.

Just before the lad turned the corner en route to Rivener, he stopped, turned around, and motioned for Iorek to follow. “Come on, Iorek!” The lad called out when the newborn did not immediately follow his physical way of directing him.

Iorek looked over to him, and then back to where Lil and Aphi were. His gaze fell back onto Tyson and he smiled at the youth. Without a care for the poor little dying tree sapling, Reks dropped it onto the ground. Obediently the newborn drifted after Tyson when he rounded the house’s corner. Without a clue as to what would happen next, Iorek moved himself a little faster so he could keep up with Tyson and Rivener anyways. He certainly wouldn’t care what he had to do but he didn’t want to loose them. Not only did he not to to loose them, he wanted to make them happy. If his actions made Rivener happy and could possibly make Tyson smile, he was prepared to do whatever the raevan had up his sleeve.

Lillian quickly got up from her seat and followed after Aphi and the boys as they rounded the corner of the young man’s house. This was just becoming a headache trying to keep the raevans and her brother in check. If only there was some way to better control Iorek, then they wouldn’t be struggling so to keep him under control. When she had finally caught up next to the white-haired man Lillian sighed and shook her head. “Aphi, I’m really sorry. Listen, why don’t I go and get Iorek? Maybe if he’s with us we don’t have to worry about him breaking anything else of yours.”

Rivener scoffed at Tyson's protest. Really, the kid was at least more fun when he was an annoying little pipsqueak. "You're turning into a stuffypants just like your sister," Riv chided, half-pouting in annoyance but unable to keep that expression for long. Not when there was more testing to be done. Riv floated to Aphi's precious car and grinned at Iorek.

"Okay, do it again! Lift! LIFT!" Riv once again made the up motion, pointing to the car's fender and hinting that Iorek would need to hook his fingers under and pull up. "Lift!"

Aphismet blanched as he saw Rivener motion to the car. "NO! Riv, NO!" The white-haired man frowned and looked over at Lil. "W-well normally I wouldn't mind much, a few trees... Eiry can fix those with Isi, b-but my car! if he pulls off the fender, that's gotta be taken in for fixing! Just, if you can get Iorek to go back to the backyard it won't be so bad!"

"Awww, don't be a spoilsport, your car'll be fine! I bet he can't lift it anyway!" Riv said, letting his arms drop, wings flaring in annoyance at his test being interrupted.

Tyson glared at Rivener and growled with distaste at Rivener's depict of him. "Hmph! Am not!" The youth returned along with a fiery look aimed at Rivener. His arms crossed and he took the pose that Lillian usually did when mad without even realizing it. "I just think this is a bad idea!" He called after Rivener as the raevan made his way over to the vehicle.

Iorek stared down at the car that had been placed at his mercy. His long ears twitched in the direction all the noise was coming from. Curious, he glanced back to look at Aphi and Lily who were wearing the funniest faces he had ever seen. The young raevan chuckled in amusement and reached down to grasp the bottom of the car, holding what was under the front of the car in his hands.

He knew the word "No", but it was not his name that had been entwined with the defense word. It was the other being of his kind who was encouraging him. Not intelligent enough to put the two and two together, Iorek flexed his muscles and began to lift upwards.

Iorek was too busy listening to Rivener and thinking of what he was supposed to do with this shiny thing to pay much attention to what else was going on around him. He didn't take notice in Lillian's shouts or Tyson's barks to cease and desist.

The car howled as little indents started to form where the large raevan grasped the metal and slowly but surely the car's front tires gained a few inches off the ground before Lillian was beside Iorek.

"Iorek! Down! Put it down! No!" Lillian spoke with a firm voice as her hands fell onto her care's stone arms. Her free hand motioned to the ground as she repeated the word "No!" over and over again.

Lillian's hand gestures, along with her strict voice, her serious eyes, and her hand upon his arm grabbed the wayward raevan's attention in an instant. His eyes fell to rest on her and unsure what he had done wrong, he tilted his head to the side to ask what she meant.

"Let go. Down." Lillian replied, her hands mimicking the motion of setting the car down and releasing it.

Like a parrot that mimicked voices, it was clear from the recent showing that Iorek mimicked other's actions. He had copied Rivener earlier, and now, as he set the car down upon the ground his eyes were tuned in to what Lillian was asking of him. In no time the car was safe and sound upon the driveway where it was meant to be.

When Lillian smiled with relief and Tyson wiped away the droplets of sweat that gathered upon his forehead, Iorek merely grinned and asked the group, "Yes?"

Rivener could have pointed out the stance Tyson had taken, a perfect mirror image of Stuffypants herself, but the boy had quickly straightened out of it in order to follow the two Raevans. Besides, Iorek was moving to the car now, putting his big hands under the fender and digging in, the metal screeching noises of protest as hard nails pushed into it. Rivener clapped his hands excitedly as he saw the car lift up, thoroughly impressed.

"WOW, Iorek, you're so strong!"

"MY CAR!"
Aphismet yelled, hands reaching up to grip his hair, eyes wide. He'd heard the howling metal and feared the worst. Thankfully Lil got there before Iorek could actually pull off the fender, and got the Raevan to put the vehicle down. Aphi rushed over and knelt, examining the damage... He let out a sigh of relief, grabbing his chest where his heart was thumping out of his ribcage. "Ah, just a few little dents, nothing serious." He grinned. "Th-that scared me!"

"Ahhh, you worry too much. You could just buy another car if this one breaks, right?" Rivener had leaned his forearms on the hood, staring down at his over-reacting guardian. "It's just a car, Aphi."

"Rivener, this is the first thing I ever bought with my own money that was more than a, a... a TV! I'm still making payments on this! I'm not made of money, you know!" Aphi was rarely mad, but apparently Rivener didn't really get the way things worked. "Now I don't mind you playing with Iorek, but don't mess around with other people's things. This car isn't yours!"

"Well, neither was the tree!" Riv said, frowning.

Aphi just crossed his arms, looking very much like a Stuffypants too, sending Riv a pointed look that clearly meant exactly.

Rivener sighed and straightened, crossing his arms. "Fiiiine! I'm sorry I uprooted a tree and lifted your car vicariously through Iorek. Can we go back to the yard now?" Without waiting for an answer, Riv grabbed Iorek's gigantic wrist and tugged him away towards the back yard. "Yes, Iorek, you did good," Rivener finally provided, not looking back at his kin.
