You know you've been in guard too long when:

- You've tried to do your routine with a pool cue, but ended up damaging both the cue and the game room ceiling. Hopefully, the hotel doesn't know who did it xD

- You've tried to spin with a rolled up poster

- You've made up a dance you the drumlines' cadence (My director and a member xD)

And I've only been in it a year!

TemariGirlDRUMMER
phsdrummergirl
You know you've been in drumline too long when.....
You sing the Star Spangled Banner like...
Oh, say can you BOOM, CRASH
By the dawn's early BOOM, CRASH
What so proudly we BOOM, CRASH
At the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad stripes and bright BOOM, CRASH
Through the perilous BOOM, CRASH
Oh the ramparts we BOOM, CRASH
Were so gallantly streaming...

You polish your drum till it blinds the guard.

You understand these facts of life...
The top 6 reasons why it's rough to be a drummer.

6. Unloading your drum.

5. Loading your drum.

4. Drummer jokes.
(Some great ones, some rubbish ones. So what, we need to laugh at ourselves)

3. Everyone thinks they're a drummer, everyone wants to play your drums)

2. The constant drone of drum beats in my mind, which must be transferred
into tapping with my hands and feet, on any object, at any time.
(That's half the fun. especially during in class.)

1. Whadjya say? Quit mumbling, and speak up so I can hear ya.
(what song are we playing!)

Your tired of dumb jokes like this... A customer walks into the brand new store downtown that sells brains. There are three glass cases, each containing a nice wet quivering gray brain. The first one says "SCIENTIST", and it costs $100. The second says "ELECTRICIAN" and costs $1000. The third says "DRUMMER" and costs $10,000. The customer is confused, and questions the salesperson.
"I don't get it...why would I want a drummer's brain for $10,000 when I can get a scientist's brain for $100?"
The salesman replied, "Because, it's never been used."

Your used to hear people scramble to get out of your way because they know you can't see them and don't care.

You total agree with these statements...
Top five reasons Drummers are the best:
1)They're GREAT at banging things
2)They handle sticks like a pro
3)They have NO PROBLEMS with rhythm
4)Their screws are always tight
5)They make band uniforms SEXY

cool

dude u rock hardcore xD

You know you're a colorguard member when:

You find any excuse to spin or toss anything.
You dream about guard.
You always have electrical tape on you.
You get bruises in mysterious places and forget exactly how you got them.
Band members get upset when you get too close.
You never watch the drum major, you rely on good counting.
Chalk is your best friend.

You know you're in guard when:

You spin anything you can get your hands on.
Guard tape holds the world together, NOT duct tape.
You have more bruises from your time in guard than you do all the years before you joined.
You've whacked a trombone in the head before, and your fellow guard members gave you 20 points.
You remember other high schools by their guard shows that year.
You can sleep on a bus listening to an iPod cranked all the way up.
Band members are in YOUR way.
Whenever you hear music, you write a routine in your head.
You assess how good music is by how good of a show you could perform to it.
You bring marching/winter DVDs with you everywhere.
You take your weapons with you to college so you can keep practicing.
You rate schools by their gym floors.
You spend more time with guard than your family.

You know you've been in percussion too long when:

You've lost a marching snare drumstick on the roof of the school and will never tell the drumline.

You've had Pit Olympics for two sectionals in a row and your director still doesn't know despite the participants getting grass cuts all over.

You know when we found the baby doll and why it is named Justin Case.

You know why it's called a 'spear-it' stick (lol Spirit Stick) and where the Spirit Dagger came from.

You have had an argument with a trumpet player on why the other's instrument makes no sense. (Blowing air + pushing buttons = noise? XD)

You've gone from the practice field to the football field and somehow lost something needed for the show but then it reappears the next day.

You know why the guiro is called Elmo Rigby and why the Shakire is named Shakira, and their kids were Shaquitos.

You can hit people with things when the director is looking, and he will blame the other person for touching our equipement. (Well I hit him because he was touching the marimba...XD)

You can sleep through the entire POTC 3 at nearly full volume on the bus and only wake up when it's over.

You know why the snare drum needs a wallet.

You can threaten to hit someone with your instrument and have it not even damage the instrument in the least. (Cowbell + accidental smack = pain)

You know you've been in percussion too long when:

- You get MAJORLY TICKED when the morning announcements declare the victory of the football team but SAY NOTHING ABOUT PERCUSSION'S VICTORY IN THE DRUM BATTLE. [Our victory was more exciting! Our cadences TOTALLY PWNED over theirs!!!]

- You've had a friend try to get you to crash the cymbals like a toy monkey [I REFUSED THOUGH D<]

- You know inside jokes that other people wouldn't get EVEN IF YOU EXPLAINED IT TO THEM.

- You hear a random beat that sounds so slightly like part of a cadence that you instinctively chime in with your part.

- You criticize the fans in the crowd that are celebrating touchdowns with cow bells for having no sense of rhythm.

- You've called someone named Candace/Candice "Cadence" (accident or on purpose)

- You wonder how the rest of the band can possibly have fun when all of the coolest people are in percussion [Srsly!!]

- You've cried because one of the freshmen stepped on a drum head AND LEFT A FOOTPRINT [It was a very tragic day]

- You've had a fight with a friend because you refused to let them touch your instrument [I've had many, actually xDD;;]

- You laugh when the other instruments complain about their arms being sore

That's all I can think of for now. This is pretty good for only being in percussion for 2 months, though 8D~

you are the ONLY drummer in the class at the time (everyone else went to Wendy's... stare )
and so you play the quad part on the quad because it happens to be right next to you at the time...
the snare part on the bass drum rim...
and your bass drum part AT THE SAME TIME FOR ALL 3 SONGS!!~ (it happened today believe it or not. rofl )

You know you've been in guard too long when you get that little callous under your pinky and then realize that all guard members get it.

You can spin rifle with a bruise covering half your palm and not wince.

You don't bother with long fingernails or rings anymore...they'll just get broken/bent.

You get respect from band members at other times because they know you come within twenty feet of them at some point in the show.

You walk in step with your friends down the hallways.

You always start walking with your left foot.

The number after 8 is 1.

Your arms are stronger than your boyfriend's.

You have glove tans.

You own a pair of shorts that say something like "Guard This!" across the back

Going to Denny's at midnight after a show with thirty other people and staying there until two am doesn't seem strange and you'll get up at six am tomorrow for practice.

Putting on makeup on a bouncing bus with drummers pounding on the back of your seat is easy.

You have a tarp putting away song "This is the tarp that never ends..."

You do across-the-floors with your friends for fun.

Watching a parade you wince when one of the guard members is out of time but don't even notice the floats.

Icy-hot is a godsend.
