Nirvana took the feather with care. Raised among winged soquili he was aware of the importance of the primary feathers for flight. As a token of their new friendship she would fly a little less steady the next time she took to the air. He tucked it carefully into his billowing tail and resolved to find a nicer place for it when he next had the time.
What could he give her in return for her token? The answer seized upon him with a smile. "One moment, first." He flicked his head to one side in a sudden movement and the feathers upon his head jerked to one side with him. While they were bent over his face he grabbed the tip of the longest of the three in his mouth and gave a sharp tug. A moment of stinging followed and only the two side feathers remained on his head. He would look a little foolish until another grew to fill it's place but he was more than happy to look foolish for the sake of friendship.
"Here." He held out the feather to his new friend. It would be the only part of him that ever went flying and he was glad that it would be flying with such a splendid mare. "And now..." He took a few steps away and watched Symphony from over one shoulder. "Till next time indeed." Without another word he was gone, leaving the mare behind to contemplate what she had told him and think about when their next meeting might be.
