Exhausted as she was, the second Milo took off she followed. Her fear supplied her all the energy she needed to keep up and away from whatever was behind them. Her eyes focused on the lavender colored fox ahead of her.

When they approached the clearing where they had met and started their "adventure" in the forest, Monroe trod a few paces from the forest and collapsed on the familiar grasses. She was almost too exhausted to speak so she just rolled over to her side and watched Milo. Gathering up some energy, she sighed and smiled slightly, "That was... Close... Wasn't it?"

Milo turned and collapsed beside Roe, still out of breath, but beginning to lick his paws. He did NOT want that bear to follow them out here, but he figured the nice badger carcass would keep them. He panted and licked a little blood off of Monroe's fur as well. "Well... I guess... you could call it fun...." He chuckled a little bit. But something else was making noise- it was his stomach. He had spent so much time and energy on that Badger to come out empty handed.

He sighed, and turned onto his back, looking up at the sky. "So what will we do for food now? It would be kind of fruitless to return to the Grove empty handed after being gone all day..." He glanced over at her, a small smirk across his face.

"Well..." Monroe sighed, they did lose quite a catch. "I don't know, I mean... We are both worn out so going back there and hunting right now would be suicide I guess." She was hungry as well, hungry and tired. "Think. What would be the easiest catch you've accomplished?" She was really up for anything right now, anything that would cease her stomach from protesting against each and every movement she made with a small gurgle. She lay there, also thinking hard to find an answer to her own question.

"Well, for any fox, mice are VERY easy to catch, and fish would probably be second easiest for me. If you want, we can go Big Fish Cove and I'll catch us plenty of fish. You won't even have to move a paw. I know how tired you must be." But Monroe was definitely not the only one to be tired. Milo could feel his stomach twisting with hunger. He hadn't eaten all day and if he didn't soon, he could become dangerously weak. He sniffed her ear, then made the decision for her. He jumped up and took off towards the big river. "C'mon!" He shouted to her, behind him.

"Oh... Okay!" Monroe heaved herself up, which took a tremendous amount of effort, and kept up at a light trot behind him. "I would feel awful if you were the only one hunting, though. It seems like you've been doing all the hard work for me." She wanted to pay him back, even though she were more likely to drown in the waters.

The Cove appeared empty, no other foxes were around. "I guess it's past lunchtime, huh." She gave Milo a slight smile and made her way to the water, wading in 'til just her paws were covered. Fish was plentiful, as always, their gleaming silver scales reflecting the sun.

Milo chuckled at Monroe's stubbornness. "I don't mind doing the hunting, It's easy to catch fish. And you need your rest. I've been dragging you around all morning!" When they reached the Cove and Monroe wadded in, Milo didn't stop her. "I guess so." He said to her comment about lunch time. "That's okay, all the more fish for us."

He wadded in a little ways down from her, looking into the water as if he was in a trance. He just had to wait for the right moment, the right fish, but his vision was a little blurred and rapid from hunger. It took him longer than usual to focus on what he was doing, but like clockwork, "Splash!" His paw went in and scooped out a large fish, throwing it onto shore. He jumped out of the water and onto the fish with his teeth bared, killing it so that it wouldn't give him any more trouble. "That one's yours if you want it!" He laughed, making his way back to the water. As hungry as he was, one fish would not be enough to fill his belly, and without other foxes around, it could wait there for a minute so that he could get his dinner together.

Monroe gazed at the endless sum of shiny scales. Soon, the shapes of the constantly moving fish began to blend together, now appearing a silver substance. Roe, now very interested in this strange mass, reached out to touch it. It parted and swam away when she reached for it and she gasped, amazed at this response. Looking around, she spotted another such spot and stalked towards it, once again observing the silver swirls, her eyes wide with childish interest and amusement.

Milo turned from his fishing to watch Monroe- What was she doing? She seemed to be... playing... with the fish! Milo wondered if she had ever even seen fish before! "Monroe! Hey! What're you doing? You're going to scare the fish away!" He laughed and bounded through the water towards her. He stopped a bit away- was she feeling okay? He watched her a bit longer before making in rash decisions. Maybe she was just having a spot of fun.
