Both Artie and Tule could somewhat sense what Bob was feeling, and it didn't make for a comfortable silence. Art hoped he hadn't somehow pissed the guy off. He liked this Bob, and was grateful to have someone else around who was going through the same thing as he was. Well, nearly the same thing.
"Uh, yeah, I should probably finish getting these groceries. People waiting back at the house," Art started, not wanting to delay the guy if he needed to get going.
"But, hey, I don't want to be a nuisance, but is there anyway I could give you my number? In case, you know, one of us is having trouble with the kids? Or something."
God, he probably sounded like he was hitting on Bob. This was going well.

Bob nodded, a grateful smile touching his lips for a brief moment. "Yes, certainly," he agreed. "I could give you mine as well if you'd like. Beth could use someone to play with." He rummaged around for a bit of paper before deciding the corner of his shopping list would have to do, unless Artie had business cards or something similar.

Artie grinned, the relief clear in his eyes.
"Great," he said before rummaging though his pockets for a pen and paper. Luckily he had both at hand and within a moment, he had scratched out his home number. He didn't yet have a cell as the only people who needed to contact him were those that lived with him or his parents. He didn't need a cell phone for that. He might need to get one once Tule started school. Oh god. He'd have to look up schools.
Trying not to feel overwhelmed, he returned his attention to the present, handing the paper to Bob, followed by the pen so he could get Bob's number.
Tule tapped her arms on the shopping cart handle as she waited. She didn't say anything or complain, but it was clear the youngster was ready to get going.
