Ew the Penguin?

Whatever happened to Scarface?
HA! So I did make a convincing argument to bring The Ventriloquist into the next movie.

Anyways, no, I do not want to see Depp in the Batman movies, ever since Curse of the Black Pearl, every role he's done has been pretty much Jack Sparrow. He's an entertaining actor, but keep him out of my Batman.

I don't think he's entertaining in any movies. He only did 3 good movies: Platoon (everyone in the squad thought he was a f** and I think he died in the end and his character was totally useless), Edward Scissorhands (by that point he was already just too much of a pretty boy to be believable for the role), and Curse of the Black Pearl (only POTC I liked, and Depp's character was an annoying, unfunny, fruity, closeted homosexual who considered himself a pirate).
Okay, the question begs to be asked, what do you have against homosexuality?

Nothing. It's just that Depp makes it blatantly obvious that he's really really gay and he portrays these characters that are really really gay and just as annoying as they are gay. Did that really make any sense? I got a bit lost in my own words while I was typing that.

Edit: Depp's roles are always so fruity that they're annoying. And I wasn't calling him a f** in that post about him. He got called a f** in that movie (I don't remember if it was directed to him, but somebody said f**. Again, I'm lost).
Where the hostility coming from? Depp has done some REALLY good roles. When he was Willy Wonka, Tim Burton was trying to make the movie closer to the book rather than a musical. I never read the book, but if you forget the musical and look at it objectively, he did play a very good character. In PotC, he was the driving force. Maybe seemed over the top, but Jack Sparrow was meant to be crazy crossed with knowing exactly what he was doing, and Depp did it perfectly.

At any rate...I said from the start that no other actor could be recasted for the Joker. I'm glad that they decided not to, but Depp will make good work of any role, and note that any of your personal dispositions against him would probably be shattered during the first trailer, much like any worries about Heath Ledger as the Joker.

Yep. We'll see what happens. To be honest when I first heard Heath was cast for Joker I was a bit skeptical as was many but now I think that was an excellent casting decision. I'm again skeptical but I believe that they know what they're doing.

So I put it out there, Heath Ledger might have played various roles, but he always seemed a little bit pretty boy, mostly a good guy, and very mellow in many roles, which are NOT great traits of a dark Joker. It turns out that he did do something completely different, but he seemed like an odd choice at first rather than a sure win. In the end, he did things better than greatest expectations.

Now the interesting part comes to Depp. I think that Depp would be a good choice for many roles since he has already played a wide arrange of different things, but I'll wait until we get some character footage before going surefire on it. After all, the article that spurred this thread actually used "pursuing" rather than "cast-ed".

Lastly, I might just be going off of admiration for Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman (and various others), but is it weird for me to want Alan Rickman to get a role in a Dark Knight sequel?

Is it just me, or does Christian Bale talk like he has chronic throat cancer when he plays Batman? Seriously, I couldn't stand his voice after a while. My only 2 problems with the movie were Batman's voice and that I thought it was a bit too long.

You're not even close to the only one. Christian Bale is a great Bruce Wayne, but he's got an overstressed Batman voice. Fortunately, that is the only problem I can find with this series of films. As for movie length, I do think that they are VERY long, but they manage time well. Lord of the Rings was even longer, and it did a good job, too, but it only got away with the length because it was a VERY LONG WALK to Mt. Doom, AND because there were epic battle scenes and stories to double the content.
