Ahnius growled something in irritation, rolled his eyes, and hunkered down under the brush alongside Ran. She was going to get them both killed. --But...there was something to be said about curiosity. Ears twitching backward and forward, as if Ahnius was unsure whether to be more irritated or more intent on watching the fight from their concealed hiding spot, he lay belly-down in the cool dirt. Oh well.
"Who's he?" Ahnius hissed in Ran's ear, nipping lightly at the mass of fluff directly beneath the puppy's ear lobe. Clearly, his sister knew something about the stranger wolf. Maybe she'd met him while she was off chasing butterflies? Ahnius paused, casting a glance back to where Sashta and the pale wolf were. Probably eating the butterflies, in the other wolf's case.

"He's mean." It wasn't an appropriate answer, but Ran obviously hadn't understood the question. She watched, wide-eyed as the fight continued. A few seconds later she continued, "Ran doesn't know his name. He had a friend before, Ran doesn't know his name either, but-" The sudden yelp not only made her jump and lose her train of thought, but turn sharply back to the other two.
Phantom snarled and attempted to step back, but the fact Sashta had him by the neck made it hard. Growling over the clump of fur and skin in her mouth, the alpha jerked to the side again, slinging the other into the river. For just a few seconds, the water was stained red. Quickly, the blood, as well as the other wolf were washed away.
Panting heavily, Sashta sat down on her hind legs and then slid forward tiredly, tounge hanging out the side of her mouth. Well, that had been a run for the money, eh? "You two can come out now," she offered softly.

Well, that latter bit answered his question a bit. Sort of. He still didn't know how Ran knew the pale wolf (or the strange wolf's 'friend'), but he decided it probably wasn't best to carry on a conversation under these circumstances anyway. Besides, any conversation with Ran was probably likely to make his head swim just trying to figure out what the heck she was trying to say.
Ahnius abruptly released Ran's ear, scrambling out form under the bush. Not bothering to shake himself out, despite the few twigs and dust coating his fur, he floundering with great puppy strides back across the distance between then and Sashta. He slowed only a few paces before to keep from headbutting into his mother.
"Momma, you'lright? Did you kill him?" Ahnius paused, swiveling his little body around to peer at the place where the male wolf had gone tumbling in to the river. Death was a familiar thing along the pack. Reicher talked about it alot: killing stuff. And there were always rabbits and small game being brought into the pack to feed all the wolves as they moved. It was simply a fact of life.

"Hopefully," she muttered. Nudging her son forcefully, the one non-blurry eye she had narrowed dissaprovaling on him, then on Ran as she slid out from hiding and made her way to them. Not so much Ran. Ran hurting anything was laughable. Sashta had knew since the day she was born she'd have to hunt for her, and the fact she'd survived had been a miracle in itself.
"Listen, Ahnius, do as I say not as I do. No matter what you see others do, and no matter what Reicher tells you, hurting other wolves is not okay. If they start something with you, that's a different matter. However, should you decide to go mauling others I'll be highly dissapointed." Gathering herself on to all fours, she snorted. "The omega included. They're not to be treated as highly as others, but they're not your chew toys, either. Remember that."

Ahnius' ears flicked back toward Sashta. He turned slightly, the nudge of her nose helping the process. He stiffened slightly at that dissaproving glare, head sinking slightly between his shoulders and his stub of a tail curling downward a bit. He wasn't in trouble for wandering so far, was he? It wasn't as if he'd done it on purpose... (stupid Ran).
Oh, but it was only about biting on other people. That was good news. He straightened out slightly, working out the kinks in his posture like some backward play of his previous actions. "That's alright, momma. Chewing on stuff isn't fun, anyway." His tail and right ear flight simotaneously, nose wrinkling. Well, chewing on his sibling's ears was alright sometimes. Ran was the best, though. She didn't put him in mud puddles because of it. That wasn't really even chewing though. More like salivating on his siblings for lack of anything else particularly productive to do.

Such a good boy, Ahnius. By then, she smiled even looking at Ran. True, she was more trouble than she was worth, but no one deserved to be eaten, much less by Phantom. Except Phantom himself, and perhaps that annoying little friend of his. Had Razzy killed him?
Putting those thoughts off for later, she lowered her head and glanced between the two of them, chuckling. "Alright, you two, let's go home."

"Good. This whole river and bushes thing is getting annoying," Ahnius rambled off without much consideration, falling in comfortably alongside Sashta's shoulder: tail flicking up, ears twitching, nose wrinkling at the various smells.
"Hurry up Ran. There was a cricket back home under that rock. You can play with it." --And hopefully not get lost chasing it. Volgin would probably eat it after a while anyway...
