One might be fooled into thinking Kolo had gone dumb, the look he was giving Nadifa was nothing short of 'wha?' The cool and confident wasn't sure what to make of the signals she was sending. At first, her ears going back had made him think he had bolted forward too fast. Sitting, he waited to see what he could do about his suggestion.
That wasn't the bad part, the bad part came when she started laughing at him. Good thing he was sitting down, because now he needed too. Looking utterly confused he watched trying to get the sense of what was so funny. Ears lowered, he stayed dumbfounded until she finally clued him in.
Granted, it made about as much sense as the sky being green. She was laughing because he was, and what a word, cute. Cheetah cubs were cute, Nadifa could be very cute, but he was a big fierce male, cute just didn't fit his ideal.
At least she wasn't put off by the now suggestion, so he added one more, "If we find her, she'll be delighted to hear we are going through with the ceremony." Just as happy to hear that they were planning more cubs, the coalition would grow and everything was better with cute balls of cheetah fluff running around and playing

Aww… now Nadifa had hurt Kolo’s male pride. Well, that, at least, she knew how to handle. She nuzzled her mate affectionately, to let him know that she wasn’t laughing at him. Well… alright. She was laughing at him, but not with malice or anything. Some things were simply too cute to not be laughed at, and an enthusiastic Kolo was one of those things. In addition to being extraordinarily cute, an enthusiastic Kolo was endearing in the best of ways; he made Nadifa feel wanted.
Well, she’d just have to do the best to return the favor. Nudging her mate affectionately, she said, “Come on… we c-can find her t-tomorrow. There’s no r-rush to find her… besides, I can think of a f-few things we should d-do before we find her.” Heh. It wasn’t nearly as obvious as saying something like, ‘how about you and me go about increasing the cheetah population’, but Nadifa never was any good with being that obvious.
Getting up and stretching out, she started to wander back towards their den. Since all the cubs had grown up and were out on their own… well, she and Kolo had it all to themselves. And it really was lonely without the cubs. Looking over her shoulder, she gave her mate The Look, which any male could readily recognize. Or almost any male. Hopefully Kolo would know what it meant.
