I read a few, and they were good. Not my favorites. My friend loves them, though!

I read them, and they weren't too bad. The probably wouldn't be an action junkies favorite though. My favorites are the ones before she's married with children.

I can't remember which one it was, but I think it was in Anne of Avonlea that one of Anne's students wrote about the stone people. He wrote her this whole tale about his friends who lived on the shore and were made from stones. He had names for all of them, and knew their personalities. I know I'm not doing the writing justice here, but that is one of my favorite parts of the entire series. It was so imaginative and straightforward that I loved it.

biggrin smile I love this book! heart heart heart heart . "It's Anne with an E." I loved all the Avonlea stories. Rachel Lind is so funny. And Mathew made a great dad for Anne. I mom actually called a pond in our development "lake of shinining waters" to be funny. Gilbert was such a jerk in the begining, but he was so nice to her in the end. I sometimes wich I had a slate to break over a guys head when they act like that.

I loved the Anne books when I was eight or nine, and have reread the series several times. Sometimes, these days, I think they're a bit too sentimental, but then again the characters are so interesting and the writing so good that it doesn't really matter. And hey, sometimes you feel like a little sentiment. wink
They're not for everyone, though; I've always thought of them as some of the 'girliest' books I've ever read. In a totally good way. 3nodding

Anne of Green Gables in my opinion is quite a bit of a classic. Though I've only read the first book Anne of Green Gables I'd love to get my hands on the rest of them. It's such an interesting story and a lot of it hits home a lot. With the many things she says mostly. I only got into it because it was my aunts favourite series as a child and I acted in the Anne of Green Gables musical when my school performed it. That's what got me into it though I'm a tad bit ashamed that I haven't finished the series yet.

cocoONneptune wait i'm confused theres so many anne of green gables. some of them are like 100 pages and others are 300. Anyone think they can help me sort which one am i suppose to read? They're a series that goes in the following order:
Anne of Green Gables Anne of Avonlea Anne of the Island Anne of Windy Poplars Anne of Ingleside Anne's House of Dreams Rainbow Vally Rilla of Ingleside
The last two are mostly about Anne's children, with Anne as more of a side character.

I liked Anne of the Island and Anne of Windy Poplars best. I like how so much of it is told in letters and I also love when she's a teacher. I recently had to decide what books to take with me to uni and I took all the Anne books up to that one because I love it so much.
