Ganon swung his arm out to stop the rest of the small herd, which had thinned since the death of Kuma's father, as was inevitable. Ganon was the loyal protector of those who remained, the herd's Champion and most powerful warrior. "Stay here, let me have a look. Humans frequent this place..." Ganon saw himself as the father to this orphaned herd, and was always a bit overprotective, harshly scolding anyone who took unnecessary risks. And most of all, he never trusted a human.

The scar down his cheek was from a fellow centaur.

The scar that nearly cut out his left eye was left by a human.

He reached around his back to his flank holster and unslung a long spear before he crept forward, glancing back at Kuma and the other kentaurides in his care. "If there are any humans, we move around the lake." He leaned back, bunched his legs, and leaped over a hedge, bringing his weapon to bear on... nothing. No one. A fish jumped out of the water and landed with a splash. "... How... beautiful..." He stepped forward a bit more, and his hoof crushed a discarded soup can.

He looked down, his eyes narrowing, and then he kicked it hard, sending it flying with an expert's precision into a proper receptacle out on a nearby dock. He then turned and galloped back to the edge of the woods, calling, "Come out! The lake is deserted! Don't... drink the water. I don't know what the humans have been doing to it." He had been to Bass'ken when he was much younger, just thirteen, traveling with Kuma's father and the larger herd. Bass'ken had been crystal-clear and gorgeous then, so pure you could see the bottom. Now it was murky and unpleasant to look at, and he shook his head in disbelief as he turned and trotted out onto the dock, with the rest of the herd in tow.

Yuritsuki stood unmoving on the edge of the lake, listening to the soft ripple of water run with the earth, a faint lapping sound that brought nostalgia rushing to Yuritsuki’s minds eye. She was only six when she came here with the herd. She could vaguely remember the crystalline pond. But know, this place felt different to her. She couldn’t see what had become of Bass’ken. But did she want to?

The kentauride knelt down and touched the surface of the water, then withdrew it. It brought no warm feeling. Yuritsuki looked disappointed. She expected more than this from a place of her childhood, but fate brought no such pleasantry.

Hope woke up with a start. Her stomic demanded food. Yet she didn't have any. "Go figure.." She stated to herself. She had to give a slight sigh. She laied there for a moment.

The unitaur complained in her mind but obliged her friend. Not like she had much choice in the matter, anyways, she was rather lacking in strength but made up for it by being a bookworm. She followed as swiftly as she could, though admittedly she wasn't the most graceful of runner, she had a tenancy to trip over own hooves.

"What exactly is it you are going to show me?" She was rather hesitant and hoped it wasn't anything morbid but rather a vampire they could mess with mentally. That thought made her grin, she loved messing with those who end up within their territory.

"You'll see!" she replied, grinning. She slowed down slightly, knowing that Membriana wasn't much of a runner. She was the athletic one, while Ana looked through dusty old books. Rin rushed right ahead and acted while Ana looked before she leaped. They were two very different people, but they fit together like puzzle pieces.

Ana would love the kelpie she found! It was in a clearing in the middle of the densest part of the forest, and she had stumbled upon it purely by accident. Thinking about the faery horse, she didn't quite look where she was going, and stopped abruptly. She nearly fell backward but managed to regain her balance as she peered down curiously at another kentauride, a unitaur like Ana. "Hi!" she offered with a huge smile, leaning down and reaching out a hand to shake. "Sorry about that, I almost didn't see you there!"

Hope at the moment was slightly frightened by the sudden apparents of the other Kentauride. She had to give a slight blink of her eyes. "Hi..." She stated as she held out her hand to the other girl. She hadn't seen anyone like her ...and another one with a horn...This was going to be a interesting day..

Rin shook her hand enthusiastically. "I'm Rin, and this is Ana! What brings you here? Hey, you have weird eyes! That's cool."

She looked at the unitaur more closely, taking in her disheveled appearance. It seemed as though she'd had a rough time, but a bath and a hot meal should fix everything. Besides, it'd be fun having another kentauride to talk to! She and Ana didn't see very many others around usually.

"Hi..I'm hope.." She said as Hope had to give a blink as she nearly face plamed. Weird eyes! She thought to herself. "Umm, thank you I guess?" She stated not sure about the eye part. That caught her off guard. "I...well uh..Yeah I did come from a long way."

[xD! "Hi! You have weird eyes." I love you Kawaii.]

"Ganon," Kuma muttered as she advanced from behind him, "We don't have enough water to last us too long here... We're not unicorns, we can't survive of morning dew alone." As she spoke, her body lowered her down to the ground. Though in her mind, the bay wanted to keep going, her body was telling her to relax. She was tired and weary and in desperate need of a moment to sit down while she gathered her thoughts. It pained her to see what this lake had become, it's once shining surface had become tainted. She didn't bother to see if she could come by her reflection, for she was already aware that she would see no face. Kuma lowered her eyes and shook her mane. This couldn't be the place they would call home.

Tibia gave a slight bow, copying what she had spied the vampires doing for a long time. She smiled gently at the little on and patted her head.

"Nice to meet you, Hope, but..." Her head tilted to the side in curiosity, having to adjust her tiny pince nez on her nose to prevent them from falling into the mud, "How did you end up here?" Indeed, there were very few of the centaur kind that ventured out to this desolate place of Durem, in fact, she wasn't sure why they even bothered to stay here other than the pretty books.

Hope had to shake her head at her, "Something...very..bad happened to my family." Hope said with sandness in her voice.

(wasn't humans)

Ganon turned away from the river, snorting, and galloped back down the dock to the shore. He cantered around Yuritsuki and murmured under his breath, "I envy you, Yuritsuki. I wish I didn't have to see this." He audibly snorted with anger, stroking the younger kentauride's flank a moment before he trotted over to Kuma.

"Kuma... the spring that feeds the lake will still be clean. We can drink from the river." He had pledged his life to Kuma, years ago when the bay had assumed her rank, but the black filly in the back, just emerging from the forest, was not the only one who was tired of moving around.

She nodded slight, dropping the subject at the sight of sadness. Looking about then up at the sky quickly, she conveniently made a change of subject to something lighter.

" Well, it will be getting dark soon. You are free to join us if you want." She forced a smile then cracked into a grin, "We have many books if you like to read, also we have a little imp that visits from time to time!" She leaned down and touched a muddied strand of Hope's hair, "We can also get you washed up."

Hope nodded, "Thank you..." She was glad that she found others to be with. At lest her outlooks was looking better now. "I would like that." She said as she gave a smile.

Rin frowned, looking puzzled for a moment. Then she brightened, and announced, "Hey! I can go get some food! I bet you're hungry." She removed her bow form her back and bent it, stringing it with the ease of practice. "I'll be back soon!" she said, waving and disappearing into the trees.

Moving to the river, she looked for tracks in the mud. This was the primary water source for the forest, and it was almost guaranteed that she'd find something to track. She ignored the hoofprints of a deer, thinking that it'd be too weird to eat something so similar to her horse half, and instead chose the trail of a boar. It was much easier to follow, with snapped off branches and gouges on tree bark from its tusks pointing the way to its current location.
