I glared at her. "This isn't about the cotton candy and you know it," I snarled. "Now put your boob money away. I dont' want cash from the ASTM." I had used this term with her many a time, and she knew what it meant - Automatic Slutty Teller Machine. "Sometimes I wonder if you dance for that money," I said, skipping ahead to a big tent that hadn't been investigated yet. If we weren't going home, we might as well get our money's worth. "Hey look," I called back to Tammy. "Some guy's cutting up the tent." I pointed at the knife-wielding man.

Hearing running steps behind me I spun around, ready to beat the crap out whatever was trying to get me from behind, and nearly got run over by a good looking girl. Dodging to one side, "Um excuse me? Do you have any idea what the hell is going on in here? I've tried 3 different exits now and all are locked."

I looked over at the guy who I thought was talking to me...at least I hoped he was talking to me....otherwise I just made a fool of myself for responding.
"Well..I have no clue...all I know is that these clowns are giving me the creeps...they just keep staring at me and smiling for some reason...I'm trying to find a way out too..." I didn't know what was going on but my mind kept screaming that sooner or later I'd find out.
"I know this is a bad time for introductions but my name is Cassandra. I'll help you find a way out if you help me." She smiled meekly, her eyes hurriedly searching the grounds to find some way out of the gates.

"They're -they're locked?!" I asked, starting to feel nervous. My throat tightned slightly and I glanced over at Adam, truth-be-told, I only dragged him because I'm afraid of clowns, I was being dragged here by John who was being dragged by his buddies. I tried to convince him to just watch some movies with me and Adam, but no! I looked to the guy with the knife and instinctively pulled my little brother closer to me, "We actaually haven't tried to leave yet," I said, "we're waiting on my boyfriend."

"Oh, ******** John!" I yelled, wrenching myself from Tammy's grasp. "That b*****d was the one who dragged us here, he can drag his own sorry a** back home. Jesus, let's just find someone and get these goddamn gates open so we can head for home." I began to cast my gaze around for anyone who could help, blocking out the clowns. I was reminded of that Stephen King novel-slash-movie with the psycho clown, but then, who wouldn't be in a situation like this?

Looking down at my knife i quickly put it away. "Name's Mark and I'll help anyone who'll help me." I smiled at the Cassandra then looked at the obviously brother and sister pair. The looks of all three registered in my brain but I was more focused on getting out of here so I wasn't late for work tomorrow. "Hey you two? Have you seen any way out of here?"

I shook my head. "No, only the way we came in." It was hard to keep my attention - let alone keep my words strung together in coherent sentences - talking to an attractive boy that made my gaydar go off faintly. Maybe curiousity killed the cat, but satisfation brought him back. What do you know, another Stephen King reference? "I'm Adam, by the way," I said, trying not to stammer.

I looked back from one guy to the other. The first one, Mark, seemed nice enough, Adam...well...he was cute for a guy. Her attention went back to the gate, she looked up and saw something she didn't like.
"Barbed wire..." I whispered faintly.
There really was no way out, but why would they close the grounds like that when they knew that they were still inside...that is..unless....well, not that wasn't possible...it was just a movie! A movie and nothing else! I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to calm down. It didn't work too well, I kept seeing the clowns vivid face in my mind as if it was reaching out to get me....I started to shake a little, remembering the long nights I had, trying not to fall asleep in fear that the clown might haunt my dreams.

I rolled my eyes and started walking, I didn't want to, but I figured maybe one of the clons could help, it wasnear the Halloween holiday so they were all dressed up kinda demonic-ish, I walked up to one and tapped him on the sholder, "Excuse me, could you help us find a way out?" The creature turned his grinning head almost all the way around to look at me and just laughed, and eerie cynical creepy laugh.

"Ooookay," I said to the clown, forcing laughter as I dragged Tammy away from him. "Well, you go enjoy yourself, and maybe lay off the crack pipe, huh?" I turned back to the other two. "Right," I said. "The clowns are coke fiends, so they're no help."

I noticed Cassandra start to shake. "It's okay. We'll stick together and get of here." As the clown began laughing I tensed and stroked the large bowie knife that was at my waist. "Okay now THAT is annoying." Glaring at the clown I growled. "Shut the ******** up and let us before I see what makes you tick." My hand wrapped around the knife. This was bad, I hadn't been this pissed off in ages. I started taking deep, meditative breaths, trying to control my rising anger. "Ok, Cassandra stay near me. Adam get you and your sister over here. We're going to find an exit or anything to cut our way out."

"Whoa,"I said, placing my hand just over Mark's as it rested on the hilt of his large blade. "Calm down now, let's not jump into anything we won't be able to get ourself out of. Where's the person that runs this thing? What's his name, Harold?" Maybe the guy that ran this place would be able to get us out without incident. It was then I realized that there was virtually no one left in the entire carnival area.

I nodded, taking immediate comfort in Mark's 'calm' act. At least someone had control.
"If you could lift me up, I'll see what I can do about those barbed wires...maybe I'd be able to cut them or something and get over to the other side and unlock it from there....that's one idea..." I didn't really know anything else. Looking left and right, the clowns started to swarm around and stare at the group.
It left me feeling awkward and slightly scared. Why did they have to paint those ridiculous smiles on their faces? No one in the world was that happy. When one of them started laughing, obviously noticing that I had been staring at them, I gasped and clinged on to Mark's arm.
"Sorry...but those things give me the creeps...."

"Oh but you can't leave! Not Yet!!" a very sick and perverted voice came over the speakers, "We have barely begun the Fun!! Now listen here kiddies, your not allowed to leave this Carnival untill you play all the games!!" the creep making the statments laughed at his own joke as we saw a very sadistic looking clown emerge from a red and black stripped tent. He grinned and spoke into the microphone, "Shall we go over the rules?"
The hair stood up on the back of my neck and my throat tightned, I wanted to scream.
