Not to start anything but I know Cloud loves Aerith, because of this.....

But out of all of them I think Yuffie has the best chance.
She kisses and hugs Cloud. Not mention she was the only one to get Cloud to stop working for a day.

It was also published in the FINAL FANTASY VII Ultimania Omega book. And in Maiden of the Planet, Aerith turns Zack down. Look at this quote from the book, "At first, she thought he somehow had some similarities to her first love. Even so, his looks, voice and personality weren't similar and he also made her think of him as a mysterious person... But it soon didn't matter. She loved him much more than her first love. Cloud was her hero and he couldn’t get away from danger. She saw him as someone full of confidence, cool and had the impression that he would disappear in an instant if she took her eyes off him. She wanted to stay by his side forever if she could. She really wanted to."It was at the end of disc two, and Tifa fell asleep against Clouds shoulder. While he was sitting close to himself. But if that's a reason for Cloud loving Tifa, then so is the park scene on disc 1. Cloud and Aerith sit up on a slide. And I must say Cloud looks like his arms around her in IMO. I love that book. It made me love Aeris a lot more. I always believed that both Cloud and Aeris belonged together. I always thought that Tifa amd Cloud shared more of a friendship than an actual lovers relationship.

Well they're novellas that deal with three different characters own interpretation of the time they have before Advent Children(AC) their names are
Case of Tifa:

Case of Denzel:
Case of Tifa is about Tifa's life while she's taking care of Barret's daughter, Marlene. Cloud, Barret, and Tifa all rebuild Tifa's bar, Seventh Heaven. And eventually Cloud moves away from Tifa and Barret, moving into Aerith's church. Soon after that a child, Denzel wonders into Cloud's place;

I just love Cloud and Tifa being a couple because I simply like the two of them and (to have a proper reason and as you said right at the beginning) Aerith has got Zack. biggrin

I've been thinking a lot about this ...
So here are the results:
I really believe in the two couples Aerith & Zack and Tifa & Cloud.
Surely, you have to admit that Aerith shows strong interest in Cloud in FFVII. She feels attracted to him because Zack, her first great love, has not come back to her and suddenly a self-confident Cloud appears who, at that time, is a mixture of Zack and himself. He agrees being Aerith’s bodyguard and she admires his strength and is proud to have him. Cloud too likes this situation as he can now show his qualities as a protector for the first time.
And this is the most important thing: Cloud always wanted to be a protector. For TIFA! She is his first love, the one he tries to impress and protect whenever he can. Unfortunately, he always fails. Cloud secretly follows Tifa up Mt. Nibel to make sure she’s fine but cannot prevent her from falling. Just to be able to impress and protect Tifa in the future, he decides to start working for Shinra and become a 1st Class SOLDIER. He does not succeed and feels deeply ashamed that he couldn’t save Tifa from falling and isn’t a SOLDIER. In Aerith, who likes him at once because he resembles her love Zack, Cloud finds a person he can “bodyguard”. Nevertheless, please remember it has always been his goal to be there for Tifa!
Tifa herself has liked Cloud ever since she met him for the first time and we know she loves him (Case of Tifa). It isn’t easy for her to express her feelings, but she offers support and sympathy whenever she can and worries a lot about Cloud.
Cloud is desperate and very depressed when Aerith dies – as a good friend and because he blames himself for her death; he has lost his absolutely best friend and great idol Zack before and is close to a mental breakdown. Cloud has promised to live both Zack’s and his lives but feels this is getting tougher than he thought.
The most important thing he needs now is forgiveness. Cloud is haunted by guilt and memories because of Aerith’s death and his promises to Zack and Tifa. He considers himself too weak to protect his new family in FFVII: Advent Children. This is why he is not able yet to love Tifa the way she loves him. Aerith gives him the needed mental support to finally forgive himself, which makes him feel strong to live on again.
However, Aerith never mentions here if she loves him, which she would have done if she did. Cloud does not even recognize her when she pushes him back into life, mistakenly calling her “Mother”.
It is possible that Aerith is disappointed when meeting Zack again after her death. She then notices all the differences between Zack and Cloud, because Cloud has been living two lives. Nevertheless, Zack planned to come back to her, so it can be concluded that he still loves Aerith. Their strong emotions for each other are obvious in FFVII: Crisis Core. In my view, Aerith rediscovers her feelings for Zack, her first boyfriend and great love. She definitely shows this in the end of Advent Children when she says: “You see? Everything’s all right.” and walks into the light together with her first love. In the German version she says: “Believe in you.”, not “us”, probably meaning Tifa & Cloud and maybe all the others too. Furthermore, Zack would not accompany her if she had let him down. The two of them appear as a satisfied couple, visiting their old friends (maybe) for the last time before walking together to a place where they can stay.
In addition, I also found a nice quotation for Tifa and Cloud:
“Before leaving Nibelheim, Cloud declared that ‘I’ll be a SOLDIER’ to a village girl, Tifa, with whom he secretly fell in love, and made a promise to protect her (Crisis Core Ultimania)”.
Finally, I’d like to add Cloud’s and Tifa’s appearance in Kingdom Hearts II. Cloud is looking for Sephiroth, who symbolizes the darkness within himself. He wants to fight him to find the light he has lost. Which actually is Tifa. One should have expected only Aerith – being an angel and so on – can be the “light” for someone, but it isn’t so. Aerith is just a secondary character and does not play a big role.
Tifa, in contrast, searches everywhere for Cloud, who at first is blinded by her light, but then notices it must be her he had needed all the time.
All this makes me think it is the only possible situation – considering everybody’s feelings (don’t always forget Zack!) – that Cloud and Tifa love each other and Zack and Aerith are a couple.

I agree with you Amica. i didn't read all of it but what i did read is pretty much true. also, when zack told cloud to live for the both of them, he said that his honour and dreams are now clouds. Cloud took this the wrong way. he took on zack's story and eventually started to believe it. this had a big effect on his mental health. he became lost. Aerith did and does love zack and on the date she said, I want to meet the real you. meaning she knew that's not how cloud really was.

Cloud never wanted to be a protector, he wanted to join SOLDIER so he could become stronger. Tifa made him promise to protect her if he ever got famous and she was in a bind.
Aerith did love Zack, I'd be a really big fool if I denied that. And quite honestly Zerith is one of my top favorite FF pairings -Their cute interactions are priceless!- But I know Aerith moved on. True Aerith didn't get to know Cloud fully until she died. But in MoTP, she clearly sates -after she knows who Cloud really is- that she loves Cloud more then her first love. Zack straight up tells Aerith that if she ever got lonely in the Lifestream that she should call Zack because he'd be there. Aerith replied with "only if I get really lonely."
I can also admit that Cloud had a dim crush on Tifa. Again, I'd have to be a retard to not see that. But lots of young boys get crushes when they're young. That doesn't mean they grow up and marry that same girl, does it? Cloud (along with all the boys in Town) wanted to be strong so they could impress the popular girl in town. And just like Tifa said ALL the boys asked Tifa out to the well.
Cloud's never said his goal was to protect Tifa, he was obsessed with protecting people. Not just Tifa.
If it was always Cloud's goal to protect Tifa, then why did he protect an other woman in front of her? Think about it, how would Tifa feel seeing the man that she made promise to protect her, saving and guarding another woman? If I was Tifa I'd be pi$$ed off at Cloud.
That's not right, Tifa hasn't always loved Cloud. In a matter of fact she only started to love him in FFVII. When they were kids Tifa didn't even notice Cloud until he told her he was joining SOLDIER. But, yes, CoT makes it very clear that she loves him now.
But how does Tifa loving Cloud show us Cloud loves her back?
I can understand a person's view of Aerith's death only meaning a lot because she was a "great friend". But if Aerith was just a great friend, why don't we see Cloud moping around over Zack's death for two years?
We don't even see Cloud speak of Zack's death all that much in FFVII. Yet we see Cloud always is talking about Aerith during FFVII. In a matter of fact, Cloud says;
Cloud :"I remember Aerith a lot."
That right there shows us how much Cloud thinks of Aerith during just the game. Yet, we never see Cloud ever mentioning Zack, besides his memories.
You're right, he does need forgiveness. Nomura himself said that Cloud's guilt can only be lifted by Aerith herself. If -like you said- Cloud felt guilt over all of his failures, why does he only seek Aerith's forgiveness?
Aerith does say she loves Cloud. A bunch of times.
Cloud calls her mother, because it's something with the storyline. Zack, and Kadaj both call her mother also. What about that? You believe that Zack and Aerith love eachother. And if Cloud mistakenly calling Aerith mother when he was unconscious means he can't love Aerith. That means Zack can't love her either.
You can't continue to say Zack is Aerith's great love, she tells Cloud himself that she and him weren't serious. We see her saying she doesn't care about it anymore. We don't even get to see Zack and Aerith kiss in CRISIS CORE. How can their relationship be so great if they never had a first kiss?
Aerith tells Cloud "everything's all right" because Cloud had finally let the guilt of thinking he was to blame for her death go. He got told by the woman he swore to protect that she NEVER blamed him for her death. Guilt of Aerith's death and his failure to protect her when she needed it most, the sole thing that Cloud let weigh him down with sadness, depression, and lament for two straight years.
If Zack and Aerith appear as a couple, why does calling show Cloud driving out to a flower field of beautiful yellow daisies with none other then Aerith herself standing in them with no Zack in sight?
We know Cloud stops there because we have dozens and dozens of pictures of the field scattered on the desk and walls, and we have freshly picked flowers from said field on Cloud's desk.

No, Tifa tells Cloud he can have her light, but Cloud never accepts it. Tifa's light actually is shown hurting Cloud. Cloud turns a yellow color than turns to a white-blue-ish color.
Which I happen to think is Aerith helping Cloud in battle. How? Because Aerith has a t least three limit breaks that cause the party to glow yellow and then blue. I can give pictures if ya want :3
Aerith definitely isn't a minor character;
1-Aerith: Is something wrong?
2-Cloud: It's nothing.
3-Cloud: I don't want you involved.
4-Aerith: You mean you don't want me there when you go away again?
5-Cloud: I just--- Listen, even if I go far away, I'll come back.
6-Aerith: Do you mean it?
7-Cloud: Yeah.
8-Aerith: See? You don't look so sure. Well, okay, I understand. Go---get things settled.
9-Cloud: Huh?
10-Aerith: No matter how far away you are...once you find your light...I'm sure it will lead you back here again. Right?
11-Cloud: I suppose.
12-Cloud: Okay.
Cloud and Aerith share at least 12 sentences with eachother. Aerith is believing in him that he can defeat his darkness. And Cloud is promising he'll come back to her.
While Cloud and Tifa's interaction;
1-Cloud: Tifa! Stay back!
2-Tifa: How can I? I wanna help you.
3-Tifa: He doesn't have to. He just needs someone to surround him with light.
4-Tifa: The darkness will be there, Sephiroth---but in a place you can't reach.
5-Cloud: No!
6-Tifa: Cloud, you can have my light.
7-Cloud: I just...don't know.
(Cloud glows with a blue aura)
only come to seven. If Aerith shares more words with Cloud then Tifa does, I'd say that it was Tifa that was the minor character not Aerith. It even shows Aerith waiting for Cloud at the spot he fought Sephiroth at.
Tifa can't find Cloud though, that's because theres no bond. Aerith easily can find Cloud any time though. Cloud doesn't run from her either, he stays and tells her he doesn't want her to get hurt by getting involved in his battle, he then tells her he'll come back to her.
Cloud found his romantic light in KH, and that's Aerith. He sold his soul to try and find her, references to the missing person as his light, and then at the end of the game we see him being led to Aerith by his friend, Cid. If Cloud was searching for his light and he found Aerith, that means Aerith is his light. In KHII Cloud's searching for his inner light.
