...|| A Crying Lotus: Welcome Home My Lil' Girl ||... (Nailah & Kuu) Part I
No matter what the child just didn't seem to want to stop crying. Kuu held Nailah close to her craddling the child in her arms as she tried to hum a soft little tune. She didn't know of what else to do, having fed her and changed her diapers there was nothing Kuu could think aside from putting her to bed; that only served to bring head peircing screams so she settled for holding Nailah as she was now.
Walking back and forth in front of the bay windows, Kuu continued to chirp her small tune to the child. She drained out the majority of Nailah's cries to focus on what a poor job she was doing right now.
"I'm sorry Nailah I just don't know what's wrong." Kuu muttered under her breath, Nailah only served to scream louder in respons. Having checked to see if Nailah was sick Kuu had asked a close friend who happened to be a doctor to check her out. To no avail. He'd found nothing wrong with the child; though she did soften her cries when given over to the him. Still she had check out healthy as a baby could be.
Kuu's children had even suffered Nailah's screams and retreated to their rooms to drown out the child. "What can I do for you Nailah, please help me to understand. What is it?" Nailah seemed to hear this and lowered her cries to a whimper as if Kuu had understood some of her troubles. "Is it this new home? Are you not comfortable here?" Kuu continued to ask questions wanting to get to the bottom of Nailah's problem. The girl stopped crying for the time being turning teary eyes upon her new guardian.
The change of pace the new scenary everything seemed to take its toll on Nailah and she had no way of dealing with it other than crying. She was thankful for the warm arms that Kuu provided but they were unfamiliar arms, nothing she would get used to any time soon. And that realization in her small little brain brought tears anew to the surface. Kuu whinced unexpectedly at the new vigor of which Nailah cried and tears of her own threaten to spill...tears of heartbroken frustration as she simply held the girl to her shoulders murmuring gentle and loving words to the child.
"I'll help you get adjusted. I promise but please stop crying little one, it hurts me to see you in such distress." Kuu confessed brushing her cheeks softly against the tear stained cheeks of her new child. Nailah cried on...this continued until Nailah had exhausted herself into slumber where Kuu set her in her crib to rest and prepare for perhaps another round of tears.
It was easy to understand the stress new surroundings had on babies. Although young their tiny minds could only take in so much and with so much happening to Nailah all at once it was more than she could grasp. In a way, crying was akin to a mental overload for a baby as they could only respond through noises and small guestures.
Kuu occupied her time during Nailah's nap to fix some dinner as it would soon be time to eat. The children were in their seperate rooms entertaining themselves which suited Kuu just fine. The time to herself allowed her to reflect and understand her situation better. An unexpected adoption like this was no easier on Nailah as it was on Kuu and the children.
Though Leiko and Sefu had adjusted rather quickly it was easy to see the jealous stares they gave Nailah for the attention she seemed to suck from Kuu. It only made Kuu smile to know her children would feel starved for attention if she didn't divide her time responsibly.
As she fiddled around in the kitchen Kuu worked quickly to prepare Nailah's bottle as it was a well known fact the girl woke up with quite and appetite. Setting the bottle in the refrigerator, Kuu stirred her meal allowing it to shimmer as she closed the kitchen off from the kids to head in her room for a little down time.
As she entered the room she could feelt he weight of the day barreling down on her but it was far from over. No matter the hardships she was a mother first and that was a full time job. Stepping into the bathroom, Kuu turned on the shower deciding to clean up before dinner and allow herself a little relaxation. She gathered her cleaning supplies, a towel and wash cloth then stepped into the shower to attend to herself.

...|| A Crying Lotus: Welcome Home My Lil' Girl ||... (Nailah & Kuu) Part II After a much needed shower Kuu was ready for whatever would come her way, drying off and dressing she opened her door to the smell of food on the stove. "Just in time." She muttered to herself and hurried to the kitchen to turn off the eye of the stove. Letting the food cool she called for the kids, each of which came tumbling out of their rooms excitedly.
"Mom, is Nailah sleep?" Leiko asked noting her mother didn't have the child in hand.
"Yes dear. Lets try to stay quiet she needs her rest." Kuu informed as Sefu came in the room yawning. "Were you sleep?" Kuu asked him.
"Yeah...with all that crying I could barely drift off though." He complained taking a glance in the direction of Nailah's room. Kuu poked him on the nose for that comment ushering them both to the kitchen.
"Come now wash your hands and go take a seat. We'll eat together tonight...and don't forget to say grace." She called to them going to check in on Nailah. To her surprise the young cherub had been bouncing around in her crib. She was girggling some incoherent phrases while she held fast to the crib to balance herself. A few times she fell on her tush but managed to get back up. With the light from the hall spilling into the room, Nailah ventured a look to find Kuu staring at her.
"Are you up already?" Kuu asked, stepping into the room to pull Nailah from the crib. At first she was weiry but after a few hesitant grasps for the child, Kuu had gathered Nailah in arms making her way out of the room and to the kitchen.
The kids groaned upon seeing the baby and waited for her inevitable wailing. Nothing came, which served to confuse the children along with Kuu who didn't care one way or another the silence was a welcoming addition to the household. Placing Nailah in her high-chair, Kuu went to the fridge to pull out her bottle and a bowl of meal. Warming the meal in the microwave she handed it over to Nailah who quickly attacked her food murmuring something akin to, "Yeah!"
The kids laughed at this along with Kuu who quickly served their meal, everyone was still wondering what to expect but for now, this dinner had been a most memorable moment. Ending with a messy Nailah who wanted to share her food with her siblings; Leiko and Sefu covered in baby meal.
...|| ||...
After dinner, Kuu cleaned Nailah and the children up preparing them for bed, though Nailah had taken a nap she was showing signs of fatigue. With a soft smile, Kuu spent her quiet time with the child now as she bathed the little cherub in the bathroom sink. Nailah seemed to love the water, its rejuvenating liquid so refreshing.
Nailah splashed some water about, slapping the surface with glee. Ever so often she would splash soap into her eyes, emitting a few whines but nothing a little clear water and dry towel couldn't cure. "You like your baths don't you?" Kuu murmurred holding safely to Nailah's back so as not to slip under the water and drown.
The baby girl giggled at splashing some water into Kuu's mouth, and ventured another go but Kuu held her hand fast. "Now now now..." Kuu warned poking Nailah's tummy. This emitted a giggle from the child once more. "You like that don't you?" Kuu purred poking the girl again until she was in a fit of laughter. It dawned on Kuu by now that perhaps Nailah would learn to adjust, it simply took time. And that seemed to be all she had currently.
Kuu had no job at current but was greatly rewarded with the money she saved from her old resort. The money went toward buying this quaint house and the necessities her and the children would need. With Nailah added to the bunch, Kuu was more than happy to shop for baby products setting up a miniature nursery in her own room.
Finishing with her bath, Kuu wrapped Nailah in her towel drying her throughly before rubbing her down with some baby oil and sprinkling her sensitive tush with some baby powder. With a final poke to her belly which once more emitted cheerful giggles, Kuu clothed Nailah and prepared the tiny child for bed. With bottle in hand she sat at her rocker craddling Nailah as she enjoyed her last meal for the night.
Nailah looked up with emerald eyes at her new guardian a look of worry seemed to cross the child's features for a fraction of a second before it was replaced with acceptance. Kuu was releaved by this and showed her affections with a kiss to the forehead. "Sleep now, things will be shaky I know but its best we take it a day at a time, neh?" With that, Nailah yawned kicking at the sandman's effects on her until she managed to dooze into a quiet slumber. Setting her in her crib Kuu smiled as she watched the child sleep; so peaceful so calm. "Rest easy, Nailah. I love you little one." With that said, Kuu went about preparing for bed....|| End ||...

...|| The Rose and the Lotus ||... (Kitrye & Nailah) Part I Quote: Kuuroinochou, or Kuu, sauntered down the chilly streets coming up the path. Toys strewn about indicating many children as she walked up the path. She had just got a glimpse of someone entering the building when she rushed her steps. "Oh no don't...crap." Too late the door was closed.
Nailah seemed to laugh at the Kuu's perdicament pulling at the older woman's coat. She reached chubby hands at her breath which she could see floating in the air. "Ahaha." Nailah chimed pointing to the toys on the floor.
"No its too cold out to play right now. Lets go inside and get warmed up." Kuu said rushing to the door. She rapped lightly waiting for a reply as her hands began to numb. "Why is it so cold out?"
Nailah simply gurgled in response uncaring of the current weather as she'd been bundled up rather nicely, thanks to Kuu and her overbearing if not over protective ways.
...|| ||...
Latpas, otherwise known as Lattie, shivered as the door clicked shut behind her. Kitrye was still sitting uncertaintly on the floor in front of her, watching the makeup-smeared children dash about with a reserved air. She glanced behind her as someone rapped on the door. Another guardian, it appeared, judging by the tiny girl who was tugging on her coat. She opened the door for the new arrival and smiled.
"Hello there! You must be a Painted Soul guardian, are you not?" She took the time to beam down at the tiny Soul. She gestured the woman inside. "I'm Latpas. Here, come on inside, it sure is chilly out there!" She stepped aside to make way for the pair into the kitchen.
...|| ||...
Kuu smiled warmly stepping inside to gather some warmth. She looked down at Nailah who in turn was taking in her new surroundings. After being cooped up in the house with the kids it was refreshing to get out and spend time with Nai alone some time.
"Hello there, my name is Kuuroinochou...but please call me Kuu." She said looking down at Nai she poked the girl's tummy which emitted a giggle. "This is Nailah, painted soul of course."
Nailah gurgled something and did a baby-salute of sorts in greeting or perhaps more accidental if anything. Walking along, Kuu didn't dare put Nailah down knowing the girl wasn't quite comfortable being away from her guardian just yet. Emerald eyes wide she looked around noticing a small soul on the floor he didn't look happy from where she was. She reached out an arm similar to pointing and looked up at Kuu.
Kuu looked in that direction, noting the painted soul on the floor. "Hmm?" she wasn't sure if Nailah wanted to get down but ventured to try. Kneeling she set Nailah down taking her coat of and holding it in hand. To her surprise Nailah didn't cry, rather she jiggled trying to move, still not as mobile as she wanted to bed.
"This place is rather big wouldn't you say?"
...|| ||...
Lattie gave a small girlish giggle. "All right then, Kuu... I couldn't say your real name if I tried!" She pointed to where Kitrye sat, motionless, still observing the other Souls. "That there is Kitrye, my Painted Soul. He's still trying to warm up to everyone."
"I'd say! I admit that I've not spent much time here, just a few visits poking around here and there, and then a full-blown session when they called me to accept guardianship of Kitrye. He was put under my care only a few weeks ago, and I'm afraid he still doesn't like me much. He's incredibly shy and uncomfortable around others, so I decided to bring him here to get him to interact a little."
...|| ||...
"Oh? Sounds like we're in the same boat. Nailah has just been crying and crying ever since I got her. I'm not sure why but she's been warming up to me just a little." Kuu watched Nailah jiggle about steering clear of most the other children. "I thought she was sick but she just didn't seem to want to be with me. She's been rather accepting today since we went out shopping. I think she likes being out of the house...I just hope she fairs well with the other children."
Nailah padded over to Kitrye and the other children looking at them curiously. Being in the house was annoying sometimes, she couldn't do anything other than sit in the crib or playpin and watch Kuu do whatever it was she did. Leiko and Sefu were older than her so they didn't play with her all that much.
Maybe now she could play with someone her own size, though it scared her to be away from Kuu for too long. What if Kuu disappeared and left her alone... soon Nailah began to cry turning to look for Kuu who was still conversing with Lattie.
...|| ||...
"Kitrye's very quiet, surprisingly, because he can't stand to be touched at all. Squirms and whimpers like there's no tomorrow everytime I get him out of his crib, and just glares at me with those big ol' eyes of his." She shook her head gently. "Sometimes I just don't know what to do with him. He never smiles, and doesn't seem to like me a bit."
As Naliah began to cry, Kitrye glanced behind him, shocked. For the first time since he'd been staying with her, Lattie heard him speak.
"No cry," he murmured softly. "It awright."
Lattie turned to Kuu in amazement. "First time I've heard him say anything. Didn't know he could talk, actually."
...|| ||...
"You're telling me... wonder if Nailah can talk?" Kuu said and made her way to Nailah. "I'm still here see." She confirmed patting Nailah's head, she brushed against the girl's lotus which Kuu never really noticed until now and Nailah wailed even louder if possible scooting away. "Wha?! What I do?" Kuu asked worried.
Nailah simply cried, shooting accusing glares at Kuu for the crime of touching her lotus ornament. With an inward sigh, Kuu sat on the floor next to Nailah unsure of what to do now, having aggrivated the girl even more. Nailah turned her attentions through tear stained eyes to Kitrye who had spoken to her. Softening up she sniffled and grunted reaching chubby hands toward the boy, where she pulled his ebony hair.
"Ahaha..." she began to giggle liking the texture and color. It was the same as her own. She tugged his hair again.
...|| ||...
"Maybe... I don't think Kitrye's fluent or anything, just a few words here and there, when absolutely necessary," she rolled her eyes as she spoke the last few words. Wouldn't it have been necessary for him to let her know what was wrong with him or what he wanted all those times he was silent and sulking in his crib? She knelt down next to Kuu and the two children, observing Naliah. Why was she so touchy about that lotus hair ornament? she wondered. Ah well, time would only tell.
As Naliah reachered hand forward to grab Kitrye's hair, Lattie sucked in a sharp breath of air, nervous. Would he begin crying too, or would he resume his pouting?
Kitrye's mouth, which had remained in a sharp sullen pout throughout the visit, now opened in a tiny 'o' of shock. He was not excpecting this! Or enjoying it, for that matter. He gazed back at his guardian with doleful eyes, clinging to his rose, which he had dropped onto the floor beside him.
Lattie could see from his expression that this wasn't fun for him, but at least he was taking it rather well. He was only barely tolerating it. She wondered how long it would last. Feigning a smile, she mouthed, "It'll be okay! Just don't... scream, or anything."
The tiny surprised 'o' opened a little further as Naliah tugged on his hair again. He turned to the Soul and attempted a tiny smile, which ended up looking more like a grimace than anything.

...|| The Rose and the Lotus ||... (Kitrye & Nailah) Part II Quote: Kuu remained sitting next to Nailah watching her closely she turned an apologetic smile to Lattie for Nailah's current tugging fit. "Oh geez, you can't go around tugging on people like that Nai. Come now... lets not upset Kitrye." She reached for Nailah to gently pull her hand from Kitrye's hair but the girl began to wail even more. It wasn't fair that she was always being told what she could or couldn't do. If she could communicate better she'd probably would have said 'pretty hair' or 'pretty boy'. But as Nailah turned to gadge the object of her amusement, his expression wasn't one of joy. She pulled her hand free covering her mouth with both hands and looked as if she were going to cry even more now. Why couldn't she do anything right? She really hated being small... Kuu noticed the sudden reaction and held Nailah to her craddling the girl in her arms. "Calm down Nai you're getting yourself worked up. Just don't pull Kitrye's hair and I'm sure he'll be willing to play with you." Looking around, Kuu found some building blocks and went to retrieve them. Placing them in between the two she smiled, "There, now you two can play nicely." Kuu said eyeing the flower Kitrye had. How unusual. She thought but didn't push the matter, her attention returning to Lattie. "I'm sorry bout all this, Nailah just gets excited sometimes and doesn't understand what she may be doing. ...|| ||... Kitrye cast an apologetic glance at Lattie. He hadn't mant to make Naliah cry; he was trying his best to put a brave face on, but he was bothered enough by his siblings at home! He watched with interest as the nice lady, Kuu, brought over some blocks. He nodded, and murmured, "Ankya," in recognition.
Kitrye reached out for a block and traced the letter, a spiky purple 'N' that had been painted on it with a pale, chubby finger. Curiously, he began to gnaw on the wood. Lattie smiled warmly. "Oh, don't worry about it," she said, "Kitrye doesn't mind so much." (Although this was more of an excuse than anything, judging by his agonized expression.) She watched as Kitrye examined the block; he seemed to have already forgotten the hair-pulling incedent. As he began to chew on the block, Lattie shook her head. "Kitrye, sweetheart, that's not a good idea. Here, this is how you play with the blocks." She gently but firmly pried the block from his soggy grasp and set it on top of another, and another. "See?" She asked calmly, indicating for him to do the same. ...|| ||... Nailah wiped the tears from her eyes, her stained cheeks still glistening from fresh tears. Looking to the blocks she watched Kitrye take one and began knawing on it. Before she could copy his actions, his guardian Lattie had stepped in to show him how it was done.
Nailah laughed, and began bouncing where she sat as she reached for a block and began beating it against another block. For a moment she did this and then grabbed the blocks banging them together in her hands. "Ahan ahan." she squealed happy with these toys. After a minute she held a block out to Kitrye in offering and something of an apology for pulling his hair. "Awwry." Kuu chuckled at the interaction not wanting to get in the way she slowly moved away but remained within eyesight if only to keep Nailah from crying again. Once clear she turned to Lattie, with a smile. "Seems they'll be getting along..lets see how they play together." Kuu suggested rather curious as to how they would interact. "I am rather thirsty though. Might there be some water about?" ...|| ||... Kitrye observed Naliah's actions closely. What she was doing seemed interesting... But it also seemed very loud. He didn't much care for loud things.
When she offered him the block, he hesitated, but then decided to take the plunge, and gingerly retrieved it from her grasp. Not quite sure what to do with it, he placed it on top of the three-block tower his guardian had built. It wobbled unsteadily, but it held. He cast her a weak, shy smile. Lattie brushed a lock of fine red-gold hair from her eyes, this having stealthily drifted out of her pigtails as she watched the Souls, absorbed. "And thank goodness for that!" she replied, giggling. "It's nice to know that Kit seems to have found a friend first off." She glanced around the kitchen. The two makeup-smeared toddlers were still careening wildly about, and the two women were rushing in and out of the room, still very busy and preoccupied, it seemed. "I'm not sure," she said, tilting her head. "Maybe we could ask one of them?" She suggested, gesturing to the frantically moving women. They did look rather busy though. She giggled. "Or maybe we should wait until they aren't in such a hurry!" ...|| ||... "Well I don't see a problem with helping ourselves to the faucet, it couldn't hurt." Kuu said with a shrug, seeing as how the women seemed busy it might take a loud out of their busy schdule for them to service their selves. While Kuu and Lattie were occupied with adult things, Nailah had began crawling over to where more blocks rest and snatched two of them up. She returned to Kitrye and placed the blocks on top of the others. Soon the blocks wobbled but they managed to stay, with a squeal of delight, Nailah crawled off again retrieving some more blocks.
She returned to place them on the jittery tower but the blocks had been a bit too high for her to reach sitting down. In question she looked up at the unstable contraption and pondered what to do. After a moment she noticed other souls walking on foot and decided that was what she needed to do. Placing her hands in front of her she pushed in mimicry of standing but only managed to wiggle back and forth. Trying a few more times still produced nothing but an unmovable baby soul. Frustrated she scrunched up her face about to cry but was aposed to this and rather she tried again.. "Ahwaha...whahaha." she shrieked in frustration. After a few more tries she gave up, tossing a block as far as she could, though it flipped out of her chubby digits behind her and onto the floor.
Looking at it she pouted cutely, looking over to Kitrye for comfort. ...|| ||... Kitrye observed the building of the tower with detatched pleasure. He enjoyed seeing it grow higher without toppling, but wasn't entirely sure why. As Naliah pouted after her mishap, he giggled, although it was very quiet, as if he wanted to hide it. "Righty-o then!" said Lattie with a grin, hopping up. "I duppose we should-- wait. Did Kitrye just laugh?" she stared at her Soul, flabbergasted, as if willing his to do it again. He didn't but she was still amazed. She glanced at Kuu, wide-eyed. "D-did you hear that?" she stuttered. ...|| ||... Akila turned to observe the baby souls and was surprised to have heard the slight tinkle come from Kitrye. On a side not she could have sworn she saw Nailah moving about, but the girl never seemed to want to show her progress in front of her guardian. "That's odd." Kuu commented looking at the blocks. "How'd they get so many...and when did they find the time to build it so high." Eyeing Lattie she turned to look at the souls again. Nailah scrunched up her nose in mock annoyance of being laughed at. She reached over to grab at Kitrye but this time she only did so at his cloths, she lost balance though falling into his lap. "Agaha." she muttered baby-like and pushed off to sit up bumping the tower of blocks. "Uh oooh..." she said having picked up on that phrase easily, the tower wobbled back and forth then soon feel at there feet, Nailah pouting once more. ...|| ||... Lattie shook her head in disbelief. "I don't really know," she admitted. "Today sure has been interesting!" She shrugged and laughed softly, watching the Souls. How amazing they were! Already this day, both Kitrye and Naliah had shown progress; Kitrye becoming slightly more outgoing and showed signs of opening up, and Naliah gradually becoming less emotionally unstable and independent. Kitrye shrugged and burbled, "'ee buil' oop 'gain!" (He probably meant something to the effect of 'We build it up again!" but words proved tricky, and he was still not fond of using his small knowlege, those few words that he had picked up from Lattie.) He placed three blocks in a pyramid at his feet to demonstrate his point. ...|| ||... "Interesting indeed." Kuu had gotten over her thirst and decided to sit a short distance away to watch the souls while conversing with Lattie. As she watched the children they seemed to be getting along okay. "Ahwhaa!" Nailah chimed in agreement picking up a few blocks of her own. She smiled handing the blocks to Kitrye so he could do the building this time around. She was content to just supply him with the blocks he needed. "Agawa!" she said (something along the lines of: here you go.) as she handed another block. ...|| ||... Lattie tapped her lips thoughtfully. "So when was Naliah first put in your care?" she asked. She was quite curious about the other guardians and their stories. Kitrye happily (Or semi-happily, anyway. He was never truly content with his situation) placed the blocks next and on top of one another, widening and heightening the pyramid. As he placed the top block on, he knocked it over. He sighed and nudged a block with his foot, glancing at Naliah, a hurt look in his crimson eyes. ...|| ||... "About a week or so ago. It was strange cause I had a weird dream about going shopping for paintings and happened upon the one Nailah came from. When I woke up she was there but then I had always knew she was there... " Kuu smiled not sure what had happened. "I remember coming here to talk to the owners and then they handed me Nailah when they were satisfied with their choice. But that dream... its all too strange." Kuu watched the souls interact smiling to herself. "So when did you get Kitrye?" Nailah had been watching animatedly as Kitrye put together a beautiful block pyramid but when he knocked it down and kicked at a stray block her lips began to quiver in warning of tears. She looked up to find Kitrye not so happy himself hurt if anything, she stayed her tears long enough to crawl next to Kitrye and place chubby hands on his cheeks. Looking him over for any boo-boos she didn't find any and was confused on his turn of mood.
"Whaaa wraa?" She babbled in concern, as if to ask, 'what's wrong?' Hoping she wasn't the cause of his current ailment. ...|| ||... Lattie's mouth dropped open, astonished. "That's about when I got Kitrye too! We must be the 'new owners' around here! I didn't have any astonishing relevations or dreams about paintings, I was just snooping around in the Gallery like I occasionally do, and they nabbed me away from the gorgeous paintings to tell me the news." Kitrye's lip began to tremble. Why was Naliah paying so much attention to him?! He would be just fine, he just hadn't planned on messing up the blocks and all... He turned away slightly, not liking to be touched, or even remotely comforted. "Num run blocks!" he gurgled, as if to say, 'Nothing's wrong, just the blocks!'...|| ||... Kuu smiled at this, figuring she'd be the one to have snopped around as sad and snagged up. But it was all good nonetheless. The both of them had their new children to add to their families which was a blessing in and of itself. "Well good luck with you and Kitrye. Here's to many years..." although she had no glass or wine she held a hand out for a hearty and friendly shake. Nailah slipped from Kitrye's side feeling a bit put off by his sudden mood swing. She held a chubby fist to her lips to hid the quivering. As a short but distinct sob came from her. She went to try and rebuild the pyramid but the effects were less than what she expected. She continued though tears spilling from her eyes as she didn't really let out much of a sound save for a few grunts and frustrated sighs....|| ||... Lattie allowed herself a small giggle, taking Kuu's hand and shaking in heartily. "And to you and Naliah, let's hope they don't drive us crazy as teenagers, like most do!" Kitrye peeked over his shoulder nervously. Naliah was fighting back tears bravely, trying to rebuild the block pyramid. That was nice of her, but he would just probably end up knocking it down again. Quickly, he snatched up a block and set it on Naliah's attempt at a pyramid. Even faster, he spun around, shy. ...|| ||... Nailah was caught off guard at the sudden hand coming around to place a block on her horrible pyramid. She smiled inwardly at least he was trying. She turned from the pyramid frustrated beyond relief and kicked it down. Turn to him she gave him a questioning look. "Egga egga toooyaya." She asked, 'why won't you play with me.' was more or less what she asked, she just wanted some company away from all the loneliness. Being the youngest in her household no one wanted to play with her so she was often left to herself or made to play with Kuu who didn't completely understand her....|| To be continued ||...

...|| Lotus in the Mirror ||... (Noi, Nailah, Haze & Kuu) Part I (Continued from The Rose and the Lotus) Quote: Nailah squealed in frustration at Kitrye deciding she'd crawl off toward some of the other children. At least that's what she had planned until her inhabitions began to take over and she stopped short of the mob of infants and toddlers. "Agga!" she squealed kicking an arrant toy. She reached out for it after a moment of inspection, slapping it a few times. After which she grabbed hold and brought the small toy to her mouth, it was too big to be eaten or swallowed so she settled on knawing.
---
Haze was pushing the rainbow-colored stroller to the Gallery were Huni supposedly 'found' Metanoia. "Honestly, does she really expect me to believe that an infant could come from a Painting?" she scoffed.
Noi was in a neutral mood, neither excited nor angry at being brought to the Gallery.
---
Kuu on the other hand, had bowed out of her conversation with Laptas to get something to drink. In the kitchen she bypassed the busy-bodies and looked into the fridge hoping she wasn't intruding by doing such. Pulling out some milk she went to the cupboards looking around in each until she came upon the ones with cups. Pouring a glass she put the milk back and walked from the kitchen to the play area to watch over Nailah who seemed content with just chewing on the toy.
---
Without so much as knocking, Haze went inside the building, her attention drawn by the noise in the play area. "Oh good, signs of intelligent life, shame the same could not be said at Huni's house when I'm not around," she snickered to herself before strolling into the play area to leave Noi there.
The Soul wordlessly stared at the different faces and felt somewhat indifferent, until Haze lifted her out of the stroller and promtly lowered her in front of a girl who was chewing on a toy. With her gold eyes, she stared at the dark skinned infant, assessing whether or not she should be interested.
"There, go do whatever it is you babies do," Haze instructed, making "shoo" gestures with her hands.
---
Nailah looked up momentarily to see who was staring so closely at her. For a moment, she took in the other child's features a half bright half dull look. Cocking her head to the side, Nailah reached hand out pushing forward to touch the girl. As was custom to her she pulled the girls hair a few times then stopped remembering the last time she'd done so. Sitting back she returned to chewing her toy her eyes never leaving the other child. "Aggga!" (what's up?)
---
Noi neither stiffened nor encouraged the hair pulling, she remained still yet accessible. The infant cocked her head to the side and blinked at Nailah's words. Her response was a shrug, as if to say there was nothing of interest to share with the other infant.
She glanced back and saw Haze skipping out of the play area. Noi didn't seem bothered by the red head's exit and focused her attention on Nailah again.
"Noi," she introduced, pointing to herself, and another tilt of her head before she pointed to Nailah.
"Hmmm, I wonder if any of these people have more class than Huni does..."
---
Nailah blinked a few times removing the toy from her mouth to try an introduce herself. "Naaa..naaaa..." for a few times she tried to pronounce it but it didn't come out right so she opted for something similar. "Nana." With that said the toy was returned to her mouth as she kicked up her feet wildly.
Kuu on the other hand had just finished drinking her milk and sat back leisurely on the couch watching Nailah and the young child. Taking in her features Kuu was rather striken she was a very interesting child.
---
"Nana." Noi echoed, trying to get a feel of the word exiting her mouth. She blinked in surprise at the other infant's sudden movement and was little apprehensive of approaching one so... animated. Then again, she remembered her own bursts of energy when she was in her 'up-mood'. Cautiously, she inched towards Nailah.
---
Nailah didn't do too much other than knawing on the toy, obviously she was teething or was enthralled just the same. Most babies tended to examine things through touch and taste, Nailah was no exception as she held the toy in her mouth and clapped her hands reaching out to Noi. The toy finally slipped from her slimmy mouth and feel in her lap though Nailah was more curious about Noi now that they other child seemed to be curious of her.
---
After wandering through the house for a while, Haze grew bored. And without Huni to entertain her, the Silarian woman headed back to where she left Noi. "Well this place is certainly fun." she declared, voice dripping with sarcasm.
Noi wasn't the sort who explored things with her mouth, if any she was more hands on. Something her on-off 'baby sitter' found utterly horrible since Haze had long hair. Once she saw the toy was in Nailah's lap, the blonde infant reached out and grabbed Nailah by the nose. Her grip wasn't tight however, it was gentle and exploratory. The other infant could most certainly still breathe.
---
Kuu noticed the other guardian and smiled at her bordem. The sarcastic remark was more than refreshing as Kuu was feeling the same way. "Yes and me without a camera to capture the Kodak moment." she said slipping in her own snide remark. A smile on her face, "The name's Kuu, and as much as I like the idea of Nailah getting out to meet and greet why does it have to be at the expense of my boredom?"
Nailah on the other hand was looking crossed eyed at the hand that held her nose firmly in place. She wasn't upset but rather curious at the other girl in front of her. "Yaya." she gurgled clapping her hands and kicking her feet, more or less telling the one to please let go. But rather than emphasis this she reached over and grabbed fist fulls of the girls hair yanking not hard but enough to send her forward unexpectedly to headbutt against Nailah's head as well leaving the two children a bit dazed and disoriented.
---
A quirk of her brow, and Haze gracefully eased herself onto one of the seats.
"I am Haze, charmed to make your acquaintance." she responded, a smirk appearing on her face. "I don't really care whether the little brat meets anyone, but this is better than listening to my companion coddle her." Haze shrugged, her emphasis on the word would have been more appropriate for a profanity. "And that lizard she keeps in the house is disgusting, I should never have agreed to purchase it for her."
At the sudden yank on her hair, and the impact against her forehead, Noi instinctively released her hold on Nailah's nose. Her chubby hands rose to rub the spot where she got hit and for a moment, Noi wasn't sure if she was going to cry or laugh it off.
She opted for the latter and began to giggle.
---
Nailah blinked shaking away the haze as she looked over at Noi smiling. She was happy the other girl wasn't upset with her and giggled with her clapping her hands. Holding out the toy from earlier as a gift she handed it to Noi and sat silently before turning her head to Kuu as her voice seemed to travel into the room.
Kuu frowned slightly shaking hands with Haze as she questioned, "Lizard? Do tell?"
---
Where do I begin to describe that horrible thing? It's no ordinary lizard, for it appears to human. One with tacky green hair and painted nails, I might add." Haze shuddered, "It follows my companion around like some lost puppy, and it has absolutely no manners! Imagine, interrupting me while I was giving Huni her instructions. It said something about her being tired and needing rest, but what does it know? It's not human." Haze declared with a smug air.
"Noi accepted the toy with less enthusiasm than what was considered polite, but she did nod her thanks. Noticing that Nailah's attention was elsewhere, Noi followed the other infant's gaze.
When she saw it was her temporary baby sitter talking to another big person, Noi only shrugged before absently prodding Nailah with the toy.
