Mel laughed slightly. "Wow. That must have been embarrassing." She shook her head one time to loosen the leaves then decided to give up on the task. She wouldn't get it out until she bathed. Pondering for a moment she smiled remembering Tooki had mentioned the river upstream.
Her ears twitched at the sound another challenge and she grinned stopping her hoove lightly against the ground. "Well.. I..." She said quickly before she trotted off in the direction they were headed earlier. She had gotten the aspect of surprise, perhaps that would help her stay ahead of him.

"Yeah it was...Hey!!" Tooki trotted after her, moving off to the side to avoid the spray of flowers. The stallion tried to pass her, but only managed to catch up enough to run beside her. "So...where are we going?"

Shaking her head with amusement Mel lead they're way along the small stream, glancing over every once in a while to check it's size. She wanted a swim even if it was for a short while and hopped to do while the sun was still high so it would dry her coat. "There!" she motioned almost breathless to where the stream got generous larger.

Tooki nodded, then snickered. He checked the water, before nudging into Mel. He'd hoped to knock the mare into the water for a splash. "You mean...there!?!"

Tooki's nudge sent her foot to the edge, the ground collapsing under her hoof. "Yo... Ahh!" she yelled. She fell sideways into the water as she suspected was his intention, her expression as her head emerged from the surface was a glare she sent back up at him. "You are in soooo much trouble for that!" she teased loudly. Though now she was in there it felt nice and cool against her. It was as if the dirt slowly drifted off her. She was still going to the sly stallion, but she supposed it could wait a bit longer.

Tooki bounded into the water after her, kicking up sprays of water. He swam in a lazy circle, giving the mare sidelong glances. "Am I? I can swim really well...my father is half-kelpi."
He could swim as well as his father, but the stallion hoped she wouldn't know that. Circling her, he whipped at the water with his tail. "Ah...so nice and cool. I think this is my favorite place to play."

The mare laughed and stuck of her tongue. So he was fast and could swim well as far as she could see. Could she never win with him? Of course she could, she just had to find something or a way to distract him.
She swam slowly to a shallower side of the river so she could stand on all fours, then hopped so she'd be somewhat out of the water and turned back to Tooki. She grinned and kicked water in direction to get his attention. "Hey"

Tooki watched the mare swimming around, a goofy smile on his lips. She was fairly graceful in the water, and a fast runner. He realized he was staring, and looked down at the tiny fish swimming by his legs.
The sudden spray of water caught his attention. The stallion looked toward Melanie, then blinked. He shook his head, trying to shake the water away, "What...?"
He forgot he wasn't standing in the water, and sank a little when he went to shake his head. Smooth, Tooki...show her just how smart you can be.
Tooki started trying to make his way back to the shallow water, watching Melanie.
(i realized a typo in my post before yours. was supposed to be He couldn't swim well, but he hoped she wouldn't know. He's a regular and can't swim as well as a kelpi. it was late when i replied. apologies.)

Mel grinned as she caught his attention again. "Look out!" she yelled seconds before she jumped in beside the stallion. Her legs hit the bottom quickly and helped her push herself back to the surface in mere moments.
Taking a deep breath of air she laughed and huffed trying to blow her bangs from her eyes, but they were plastered, and left her blind. "Now this would be good for 'Marco Polo'"
This time she shook her head, her mane flopping about and leaving her eyes free to gaze at Tooki once more.

Tooki shook his head, trying to shake the water away. He sputterd a little, laughing as he made his way to the shallow end. He glanced at the mare, "I wanna try that..."
The stallion blinked a bit, standing better on the shallow rocks. He watched Melanie a bit, the boyish smile present. He tilted his head, just before bracing himself for a jump. "What's Marco Polo?"
He as actually glad of a distraction from trying to impress the mare, not really as great a swimmer as he'd boasted.

Mel smirked as she watched him perch himself on the rocks. He was kinda cute when he acted like this. Her ears turned toward him as she listened. "Actually I heard some two leggers doing in a pond when I was a filly. One of them was yelling 'Marco' and the other 'Polo' and they were following eachother around. I'm not sure what the point of it is though." She shrugged.
She closed her eyes and lowered her head as she waited for him to jump in. But when he got back in, she'd be ready. Grinning at the thought she waited.

"Taz'dingo!" Tooki shouted, jumping in the water. He sank under, then kicked off the bottom and squirmed back to the surface. Getting his bearings the stallion circled Melanie, flicking his tail at her. "Sounds like it's a game...want to try it?"
He paused and noticed the mare with her eyes closed. "What are you doing?"

"Hmm?" she peeped, cranking an eye open to peer up at him. "Ahh!" she squeaked and closed her eyes once again as she got an eye full of water.
Blinking her eyes open again she nodded as he resurfaced. "Yeah, it sounds like fun." she grinned at the thought running through her mind and swam over to him. "But you have to close your eyes."

"Now you have to try and catch me" she said snickering softly. Mel padded her way through the water past Tooki only russeling a bit of water around him, but enough for him to feel the disturbance. She thought of what the two small two leggers were doing that day and yelled "Polo!" only a couple of feet behind him.
