Incorrect. The earth is presumed to be 9,000 years old, the Bible being presumed to be a 7,000 year span of time.

The Christian estimation of the Earth's age is based upon the Bible's description of the geneology of Adam to Abram, and the fact that God created humans on [sixth or fifth?] day. The only element of uncertainty of the 6000 year estimation is the duration of the time that Adam spent in the garden. if this is assumed to be a short time, there is no way the estimate could reach 9000 years.

Besides, have you ever considered that the Bible only includes what's important for us to know?

It's quite important for intelligent beings to have a reason to believe what they do; to have evidence, to be justified in their belief.
