The pair had always been close, ever since they were little even before she stopped speaking. While they had both their parents they never got along too well with the others from the pride they once belong to. The reason was probably because they spent most of their time around the prince who was now someone they strove to avoid. When she gave up speaking they had only become closer simply because he understood, well more so than the others, while their parents had not. Now with a simple look she was able to tell him what she was feeling, thinking or wanting to say.

When Sanuye spoke to her she looked back at the other tilting her head as the question was asked. A smile broke across her lips as she nodded her head. Yes! Her mood had definitely cheered up with that one simple question. Kagami definitely thought the other female's name was pretty, it flowed so nicely in her mind.

There was something about this other female that made Kagami thrilled whenever she smiled or spoke to her.

There was no history of deep and meaningful relationships in Sanuye's past. The closest things she'd ever known to the type of connection Kagami shared with Akira was the fierce love and devotion she felt towards her own sister- but they could not look at one another and know, just like that, what the other wanted to say or do. Sanuye's behavior was usually far too radical and her emotions too extreme for anybody to relate to her. She was a lioness of intense feeling. Nothing about her was mild. It never had been. The bright red lioness went from one extreme to another and didn't hold anything back. Still, the fact that she wasn't afraid to express herself didn't necessarily guarantee that she knew how.

Kagami's brilliant smile delighted Sanuye, and the adolescent positively beamed at the older lady. She wasn't dealt compliments very often and one from such a pretty girl, even if it had come from the lips of a male, was more than she would have expected. An urge to return the favor tickled stubbornly at the back of her throat and, because Sanuye was certain it was the only proper thing to do, she declared proudly;

"I think you're beautiful."

It didn't occur to her to say thanks.

Kagami blinked stepping back a step as though she was startled. A deep red blush settled across her features masked by her purple fur but all to noticeable regardless. She had received a few compliments in the past, many mockingly, but none had ever resulted in her blushing. If they had never like this. Maybe it was because of how the red female said it. Her tone was filled with such...she couldn't think of the word but whatever it was it made her feel special. It was a feeling she definitely enjoyed.

The purple female was practically bouncing with excitement as her mind raced to find some way to thank the other. Suddenly an idea sprang up in her mind and without so much as a second thought she bounded right up to Sanuye and gave her a quick nuzzle before pulling away.

Thank you! Thank you!

She felt like shouting, extremely delighted to receive the compliment. However she said not a word even though she longed to. Quickly she glanced briefly at her brother before her attention went straight back to Sanyue. She was too focused on the other female to think much about her brother.
PostPosted: Sun Oct 12, 2008 1:41 pm

Sanuye hadn't thought far enough ahead to consider what Kagami's reaction to her compliment might have been. The purple female's energetic response and brief show of affection caught her completely off guard. She watched, wide-eyed, as the older lady pulled away. Heat rushed through her veins and collected in her cheeks, but it was thankfully invisible behind her bright red fur.

A smile practically the size of the sun lit up her youthful face and, for a moment, all she wanted to do was sit there forever. It didn't matter to her if she never ate or slept again, as long as she could remember this situation exactly as it was; significantly simple. It was unlike anything she'd ever experienced before and, therefore, so much more special than most things she'd ever known. Sanuye wished she could have said something to prolong the moment, but her vocabulary was unfortunately too limited.

For fear of stumbling over her words and making a fool of herself (she'd never been so conscience of her actions before), she returned to familiar ground. These were pridal lands. Kagami and her brother were trespassing. It was clear to the adolescent now that they meant no harm, but she felt that they ought to at least know where they were going.

"These are the Kunanda'Nakhun lands. We are a proud and strong family of warriors. If you insist on passing through these lands, I can guide you."

In the back of her head, Sanuye couldn't help wondering if there was any way she could get Kagami to stay.

Kagami was delighted to see the smile that lit up Sanuye's features, it looked good on the female. She stood there waiting to hear what the other had to say and was slightly confused when she went back to the topic of the pride they had found themselves in. When she mentioned guiding them she nodded almost frantically, thrilled to have the chance to spend more time with the bright red adolescent. Of course it didn't even cross her mind to see if her brother was as willing as she was to stay longer in lands she wasn't familiar with.

Akira was well aware of the fact that he had been momentarily forgotten by not only his sister but by the red female they had stumbled across. It didn't bother him, after all he had never seen his sister as happy as she had been in the last few minutes. He appreciated it.

"We would love to."

He stated making his presence well known again as he quietly regarded the two girls. "I know that she would definitely be delighted to accompany you through your home."

Kagami blinked at the sound of her brother's voice and slowly turned around practically beaming at him. He made things so much easier sometimes. It was something she really appreciated.

Looking back to Sanuye she nodded. Pleaseeeee!

Sanuye had, indeed, almost forgotten about Akira. That was, until he answered for Kagami.

It was strange, the way Kagami let her brother speak for her. Sanuye had no personal qualms with any male in particular. In fact, all she knew about men was what she'd witnessed of the goings on within the pride. She had, however, been raised to think of them as inferior. It was the natural interpretation her mind had made of their roles in the pride. The men looked after the little ones and, other than that, they lazed about in the sun all day. It was simply the way that things were. The women ruled. The idea that a female who refused to speak in favor of a male's voice was difficult for her to understand.

With a slight shake of her head, she chose not to dwell on it. She couldn't comprehend Kagami's actions, but thinking about it too much was a great strain. It all seemed so complicated.

Instead, she focused on ways that she could convince the purple female to stay. It occurred to her that Akira might not want to leave his sister and that, maybe, if she could get him to stay, Kagami would too.

"Alright," she smiled as sweetly as she could manage, while trying to commandeer some form of master plot to entangle them there, "If I'm going to lead you through these lands, I'm going to need to know where you are headed and where you came from."

Actually, she didn't need to know where they were from. She just wanted to.

Having decided that they were going to accompany Sanuye, Kagami trotted right up to the red female wanting to walk by her side. It was clearly obvious that she liked this other female and enjoyed her company despite the little time they had known each other. Glancing back at her brother she gestured to him to join them, perhaps on her, or Sanuye's, other side. When he nodded she turned her attention back at the other female.

At the questions however she frowned. Where were they headed? She wasn't sure. Where they came from...well it had been the roguelands and before that...

Akira's rather pleased grin faded at her question. It was a good one but he wasn't sure how to answer without bringing up Suijin. He inhaled deeply before shrugging as he came up to the other side of the red lioness.

"Well...we've been traveling the roguelands for sometime now. Kagami much longer than myself." He started unsure of how to phrase his words well. "Before that Hitoshirezu'bakufu pride lands. That's the pride we were born into."

Kagamin glanced at Akira as he came up beside her and nodded before looking back at Sanuye. A frown had settled upon her features as soon as he spoke the name of their former pride. Things were complicated. Very much so. At one point in time she would have never thought that she would be so happy to be away from the place.

Glancing at her brother she shook her head. They were never going back there again.

Akira laughed dryly as he shook his head with her. "We'll never go back. Never."

It was easy going. Sanuye had spent a great deal of her youth patrolling the borders of the pride lands, pretending to be a great and intimidating warrior. The months of practice showed in the way she maneuvered about the jungle, selecting the wider paths so that she and Kagami might always be able to look one another in the eye as they walked. She wasn't so eager about having Akira close by, but she had acknowledged him as Kagami's brother and tool. They needed him if they were ever going to get to know each other- and, at that particular moment, there wasn't really anything Sanuye wanted more.

She wasn't a genius by any means, nor was she very smart at all, but Sanuye caught the way Kagami frowned at her questions and had enough sense to realize that there was something off. The adolescent was sure her questions hadn't been especially rude. A little bit nosy, maybe, but not insulting. In any case, she shouldn't have cared if they had been. They were the intruders. It was her place to ask questions, and to get answers. She may have liked Kagami a great deal, but Sanuye was loyal to her pride and her family above all else. Kagami was still very much a stranger.

Sanuye glanced sideways at Akira as he answered her questions. Kagami had left before he had? How had she managed, without somebody to speak for her? Surely, there must have been more than meets the eye to the pretty lady that walked by her side.

"I have not heard of the Hitoshirezu'bakufu pride lands before," she admitted, unconcerned by her own ignorance. Her home, the Kunanda'Nakhun, was the only place that mattered.

"Why did you leave?"

Kagami was of course silent but her brother also fell silent watching, waiting for her to do something to indicate for him to continue. She paused in her steps as she tilted her head back, green eyes studying the treetops and sky as she thought about things. She knew that Sanuye would find out sooner or later. He was bound to find her even in the depths of a pride she wasn't safe. Not from being found at least.

She shivered at the thought of the dual colored male. Lowering her head she looked back to the brightly colored female before turning to her brightly colored brother. Slowly she nodded giving him full permission to tell what he knew of her story.

Akira had stopped walking falling a few paces behind the pair as he waited for an answer. When he received it he caught up with them inhaling deeply as he started. "I wouldn't think so. It disbanded some time ago, when we were early adolescents, of course my sister had left by then."

He shook his head as he spoke. "She left because of incidents involving my best...ex-best friend, I don't know why but it had to do with the reason she stopped speaking." A reason he didn't know much to his frustration. "I wish I could tell you but neither of them ever told me." He shrugged, if Kagami wanted the other female to know she would tell her herself.

"Not too long after that the two of them got into a fight and left. I being the idiot I was let her leave. She was smart to leave, the pride fell apart not too long afterwards. The queen grew sick and the elders would not except Suijin as their king." It was a long, and rather complicated story but she had asked and he was going to tell her, even if he left a few things out. "It was then that I decided I was going to follow her, Suijin joined me. At that time we were still on good terms but that was only because I was blind to the way he treated Kagami." He paused to laugh dryly at himself.

"Anyway...Eventually the two met up again and had a rather bitter confrontation judging from the way he was acting. I always knew that he was sadist and cruel but after seeing her again he took it to a whole new level....Eventually we met up again, my sister and I and I realized how badly things had been for her." He paused with a sigh as he looked over at the purple female. "I confronted him, she ran onto the scene and ever since we've been on the run so to speak, from him. It's amusing really how much such a smaller male can frighten me. I'm twice his size yet...he's so vicious. He's out for blood I swear." He growled his features twisting into a snarl. "He plans on reviving the Hitoshirezu'bakufu which is why we will never return. I won't put her through that again."

Kagami nodded to confirm what her brother had said, just in case her new friend didn't believe the words that left his mouth. Those were times she would have been all too happy to forget, unfortunately it haunted her. He haunted her, ever step she took she swore that she had to be constantly looking over her shoulder for him. As though he'd jump out of the shadows and eat her alive.

The bright red adolescent listened as intently as possible. She was careful to store every single word of what he said to her limited memory as, for some bizarre reason, Kagami's story interested her like nothing ever had before. Sanuye would never have admitted it, not even to herself, but she was very curious about the pretty purple lady. She longed to know everything about her, and then more. It irked her a little bit that she had to hear it from Akira, but she managed to shrug it off successfully as an inevitibility. She resolved, however, to hear it all from Kagami's own lips someday. And, if she had anything to say about it, that day would come soon.

The more Akira explained, the more pleased she became that they'd agreed to to tell her. She wasn't surprised when Akira admitted that he was too cowardly to protect his sister. Most of the men she knew weren't warriors. Although, she was a little intrigued by Akira's description of Suijin. Sanuye couldn't imagine being afraid of any male, even if he was as viscious and bloodthirsty as Akira said. She was a giant of an adolescent; made almost entirely of muscle, but with a little bit of extra fat, and utterly fearless. When she finally grew into an adult, she'd be an impressive force. Sanuye was certain now that Kagami belonged with the Kunanda'Nakhun. She would be safe with them.

"You are running now, then," she asked softly, chocolate brown eyes fixed on Kagami's face, "running from him."

"It is safe here." It was as close to an invitation as she could give, as Sanuye suspected that she might have to ask for permission from one of the Adhi-Raj before allowing either of them into the depths of their pride lands.

A frown decorated her features as she looked down, but ahead, into the distance with a dazed look upon her features. It was hard on her thinking about the past, about the feelings she once harbored for her ex-prince. Now all she felt for him was sadness, fear, regret and a string of hatred. She knew she shouldn't hate anyone but with him, with what he had done. It just couldn't be forgiven. What he could, and would, do couldn't be forgiven either.

Suijin was simply...unforgivable.

When Sanuye spoke she turned her attention towards her blinking slowly as though she forgot that others could speak. Her statement made her sigh inwardly as she slowly shook her head. She was running and felt as though she would always be running. She never wanted to, he just gave her no other option.

It is safe here.

That statement brought Kagami too look directly at the red female as she furrowed her brow. It was a tempting offer, there would definitely be safety in numbers as well as the fact she would get to spend more time with her new found friend. Glancing at her brother she tilted her head.

Akira remained silent through the whole ordeal as though he had suddenly taken up the vow that his sister had. He had so much to consider, so much to think about. Glancing over at the purple female he smiled weakly at her. "She'll stay. But I think it would be best if I wasn't in the same place with her anymore." He could lead Suijin on a wild goose chase.

"Would I be able to visit?"
PostPosted: Sat Dec 06, 2008 6:10 pm

Sanuye watched the pair of them closely and strained her own mind as she attempted to determine the thoughts swirling around in both their heads, according to the expressions on their faces. As a warrior-in-training and a decent huntress, she was naturally pretty good at anticipating the actions of her foe or her prey. But, Akira and Kagami were neither of those. They were, until she decided otherwise, extremely likable strangers. It was hard for her to guess at what they might be thinking.

She hoped that Kagami would agree to stay. Of course, they'd need to speak to an Adhi-Raj, but Sanuye was almost definitely certain that they would not turn Kagami away. She needed the safety the jungle and this remarkable pride could provide.

When Akira announced that the purple lady would remain, Sanuye couldn't hide the brilliant smile that lit up her youthful face. Sanuye sensed that this was the beginning of something incredibly important. For somebody who spent a great deal of time alone, the prospect of having the likes of Kagami as a kind of companion was more than a pleasant idea.

"You would be able to visit, I think," Sanuye nodded at Akira. She chose her words carefully. It was important for him to accept her advice as the truth. If he did not, the consequences might be disastrous. "It would be a bad idea to wander into these pride lands without an escort. We are all warriors here. You, as a strange male, wouldn't make it passed the borders unharmed."

She paused and then, watching Kagami carefully from the corner of her eye, continued with a sigh; "It might be wise for you two to arrange a date, so that we could meet you back at this exact spot. After every visit, you could set a new time."

How many moons would Kagami be able to sleep away from her brother?

"Good." Akira replied before turning just about to leave and let Kagami have some alone time with her new companion. Then the others' words stopped him. A date to meet again? He wasn't sure if he would be able to meet her on the days that he told her. When one was constantly looking over their shoulder it was difficult to say what would happen the next day.

He sighed glancing at the floor as he tried to come up with a solution to what should be an easy problem. Unfortunately for him it was much to difficult. "I honestly can't be sure that I would be able to meet her the day that I promised. I never know where I am until I'm there." He stated with a slight shrug.

It wasn't as though she needed him, she could fare for herself quite well. She always had been able to, well at least until Suijin showed his darker side. He was the one thing that Akira was worried about even though he knew he didn't need to be.

He heaved one more sigh before he decided on his answer. "When it's almost the full moon come looking for me here. I can't promise a specific date but I can give you a general idea. Is that alright?"

Kagami had let her gaze drift back and forth between her new friend and her older brother. She could see that he was troubled by the slight frown that decorated his maw while the rest of his features remained blank, expressionless.

While he could almost always tell what she was thinking she always had difficulty reading his mind. What she did know what that he knew that she could care for herself without him, even if having him by her side helped. She had done so for so long before they reunited. Now they were parting after such a short reunion. Of course it was to be expected, they were separate people and they both had different ideals even if they were siblings.

At his suggestion she nodded without question. It seemed like a good idea to her. Especially since it was the full moon. The light given by the moon would provide them both with some protection against Suijin.

Of course it all depended on Sanuye, whom she looked over to.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 21, 2008 11:38 pm

Sanuye knew very little about Suijin. Kagami's and Akira's anxiety concerning the strange male did not bother, nor influence her. She had no reason, so far, to be worried about the nasty creature they fled from. It pleased her immensely that Kagami agreed to stay not only because they would have many opportunities to become closer, but also because the other female demonstrated a great deal of faith in the abilities and strengths of the Kunanda'Nakhun Pridelands and, therefore, in Sanuye herself. The bright red adolescent swore to herself that she'd do her best to look after Kagami, and ensure that her transition into the pride went as smooth as possible. All she needed now was to get ahold of one of the Adhi-Raj.

"That's a fine time to meet," she nodded sincerely at Akira, "If you're late, we will linger for a couple of days. That is, if Kagami would like to."

She couldn't help wondering how they were going to get along, without him there to translate. It was a good thing Kagami was so beautiful. They hadn't known each other for even a day and, yet, Sanuye already found herself charmed into patience by Kagami's very presence. Whenever the older lady glanced her way, everything she felt instantly subsided into something strange and fuzzy. It'd never been easier for her to keep a check on her temper.

If she was going to be totally honest, Sanuye would have admitted that it frightened her a little.

He nodded agreeing to her terms. "I appreciate it. Everything really." He paused his purple eye flickering over towards Kagami before going straight back to Sanuye. She would be much safer with the other female, in the safety of a pride, than with him. He had already lost one fight with the dual colored male. He had a feeling he would lose again.

It would always be a challenge for him to win, if only because the other knew him so well. When he had the general idea of what a person was like he could find their weaknesses rather easily. It was even easier when he actually knew the person.

Shuddering he nodded. "That sounds...perfect." He paused stepping towards his sister and nuzzling her lightly a sad smile upon his features. "I wish you the most happiness Kagami." He whispered in her ear before stepping back ready to leave.

"I hope you can heal her in ways I never could." He stated looking at the red female once more before shaking his head to himself. "I'll see you around." With those parting words he turned and disappeared into the shadows.

As usual she had remained silent, simply watching the exchange that passed between her new companion and her brother. Occasionally her ears would flicker back and press against her skull before returning to their upright position only a moment later. A part of her was sad that he was leaving and another part was not. It was better for them to part ways.

She was also thrilled to be able to spend, if not live, with Sanuye. Something about the other female just captivated her and she couldn't but want to stay by the others' side. She wasn't sure of the feelings she felt whenever they locked gazes or she could feel Sanuye's gaze upon her but she knew it was a pleasant one. One she couldn't ignore.

Nuzzling her brother good-bye she nodded before moving towards her new friend ready to start her new life.
