Here's a couple of fun books I have:
Kanji Power by John Millen--It has a couple hundred basic kanji for beginners. I'm still studying from it. sweatdrop
Outrageous Japanese by Jack Seward--It's absolutely hilarious! It's really small, but it's worth it. I learned my favorite Japanese phrase from it: Toufu no kado ni atama wo butsukete shinde shimae. (Hit your head on a corner of tofu and die.) It has insults and swears listed categorically with some...helpful comments and examples from the author.
Kinki Japanese by DC Palter and Kaoru Slotsve--It's a basic dictionary of the dialect of the Kinki region of Japan (aka Kansai). On top of sounding either like a comedian or a gangster, it's fun to see the looks on peoples' faces when they see and misunderstand the title.
I completely recommend all of these books (especially Outrageous Japanese).

One, my Runin Kenshin (I can't spell it off the top of my head) manga which has the meanings of Japanese words they use in the back. Two, I got yelled at once for using '-sama' too much, and then bitched at about how high it is. And three, a Japanese Forgein (sp?) Exchange student that I hang out with. I asked once. 3nodding You mean Ruroni Kenshin? And could someone at least teach me the "title" thing like, Shugo-kun or Shugo-chan (I barely know what those mean)

It says right there in that post you quoted, Shugo. biggrin But just to review
chan - a diminutive nickname (kind of like calling someone named Nick "Nicky" or Thomas "Tommy") used mostly for little kids, and girls often use it with each other. Term of endearment
kun - for young men (I think you can use it for a girl if they're tom-boyish just to tease them)
The word for your older brother is "oniisan" and for older sister it's "oneesan" and I've noticed in Manga, younger siblings replacing "san" with "chan" so they call their older siblings "onii-chan" or "onee-chan"

Making all these rules about copying books... xp Anyway, to order it at a book store, you need money-which I currently lack.
