Demy cringed at the tap on his muzzle. He -was- a monster, just look at him! He was something straight out of his drug induced nightmares and somehow that was just fitting. He deserved this, didn't he? For screwing up the band and his life...
The boy let his friends lift him to his feet, simply hanging limply until his paws were steady on the ground. At the mention of his guitar ears went flat and fresh tears welled in his eyes. "I...d-don't have it." Maybe if he left it at that there wouldn't be futher questions. He didn't know if he could handle telling them what really happened to it.

"What d'you mean you don't have it?" Lali asked in a sharp voice. Something about the way Demy had phrased his answer and the fact that he was tearing up was sending off tiny warning bells in her brain as she helped him to the bike.
"I'm going to have to put my arms around you while we're on the bike, cutie. But I promise to be careful of the wings. And I think I still have a few of your shirts and stuff from the last time you stayed the night..."
She reached out a paw and gently squeezed Spence's arm gratefully. She knew she'd have had no chance of getting Demy anywhere safe if the taller male wasn't here. And given how Spence wasn't exactly Demy's biggest fan these days, she was beyond grateful to him for being as gracious as he was about having to load the kid onto his precious bike.

Spence bit back a comment about making the boy clean off any blood he got on the bike. There would be time for that later, out of Lali's sight. At the squeeze to his arm, the elder audio smirked a bit. It appeared he had gained some points with the girl just by helping the stupid druggie that had once been his dearest friend.
Climbing onto the front of the bike, he helped lower Demy to the seat behind him.

"I...just don't have it----" Sighing heavily, Demy finished in a voice barely above a whisper. "I sold it..."
Once on the bike, the boy slumped forward a bit to hold onto Spence. Surely the other wouldn't appreciate this, but he was just so tired and sore..and what the hell else was he going to do?

Barely a whisper or not, Lali was close enough to hear and she bit her lip in dismay. He must've been in a really bad way if he'd sold his guitar. But, rather than answer, she simply climbed on behind him and hugged him. If she could, she'd try to get him to tell her where he'd sold it and try to help, but that would have to wait. Still...
"When we get home, I want you to tell me where, okay?" she whispered in his ear. "I won't ask why or anything like that, all right?"
Settling herself on the bike and making sure that Demy's wings wouldn't catch up on anything, she gave a nod.
"I think we're ready back here, Spence. You remember where my apartment is, right"

Lucky for the boy, Spence hadn't caught the whisper. If he'd known that Demy had sold his once precious guitar to feed his drug addiction, the elder audio likely would have yelled at the youth quite extensively.
At Lali's direction, he swiftly started the bike and drove off down the wet road. "Yeah, I remember..." he answered shortly, his attention distracted by Demy's hug-like hold on him. The youth's slight touch brought about a somewhat nostalgic memory of when he'd first acquired his motorcycle. He'd offered his little friend a ride and-- Spence shook his head, breaking off the thought. Dwelling on the past wasn't going to change his attitude about the the boy now.

Sandwiched between the two, Demy kept his head resting against the back of Spence, careful not to stab him with his horns. "What good is it going to do? We won't f-find it...I don't DESERVE to find it...it's my own stupid fault and just..." Demy broke into tears, now simply murmuring to himself about his lost guitar. It really -was- his most treasured possession..how could he ever give it up for something so stupid?! Shouldn't someone have been protecting him from al this? ...But no, it wasn't anyone's fault but his own. He had a perfectly good band!...Before he screwed that up. He also had a perfectly good home with Lou until he was kicked out. No...this really was all his fault. He should have listened to his friends earlier.
"I...I miss you guys....you h-hate me, d-don't you?"

Shaking her head, Lali couldn't help but smile.
"Pfft! You are obviously underestimating how resourceful a woman can be when need calls. And I don't want to hear a thing about you "not deserving" help or anything."
She was silent for a moment as she considered his last question. Did she hate him? She didn't think so. Or rather... she hated some of the things he'd done, but that didn't mean she hated the person. The fact that he was admitting to having made mistakes rather than laying the blame on others spoke for a lot too. Somehow, whatever had happened to him had forced his eyes open. So, that was what she todl him in kinder words.
"Nah, I don't hate you, cutie. What kind of friend would I be if I couldn't forgive when I need to?"

Spence glanced back at the boy, considering the question. Certainly there had been animosity between the pair, but was it really hate? Memories danced fleetingly through his thoughts. Good or bad, he couldn't tell which outweighed the other or if it even mattered. They had grown up together and despite everything the youth had done, he had to admit that he still considered him a friend. The tall audio looked back at the boy once more. "Don't say such stupid things, dumbass..." Not the nicest reply, but at least his tone was gentle.

"I don't deserve my -guitar-..." But it was pointless arguing with Lali. Once her mind was set on something it'd take a miracle to convince her otherwise. Besides, he did want to find it, he just didn't think there was a good chance to do so.
"...Yes Spence..." The boy fell silent except for his occasional sniffles. No longer talking, Demy was left to think about what had happened..and the pain.

"Well, I think you do, and I'm still your friend, so there," Lali put a gentle teasing note into her voice, wanting badly to cheer Demy up. Hoping to at least point his brain in a cheerful direction, she rambled on.
"You look like you havent' eaten in a while, so I'll make you some tacos and maybe I'll bake some cookies too, I like baking. We'll get you a nice hot shower too and get some of the dried muck off."

The elder audio's ears flattened slightly as the boy resulted to silent sniffling in the seat behind him. His attempt to play nice hadn't quite worked out as he'd expected.
Spence's ears perked at the mention of tacos and he glanced imploringly back at Lali, wondering if he was invited to stay too. Dinner at her place beat the leftover Chinese take-out sitting in the fridge at home.

"I like tacos...and cookies..." Demy cringed, shifting just a bit in the seat. "I...I dunno if I can stay standing for a shower..." Even if he REALLY needed one at this point.
Demy stayed silent for a few minutes, thinking over a few things. "L-lali...is S-spence staying for tacos too?...I'd like that..."

"So we sit you down in the tub and hose you off. Or we can sit you on the rim and take it in steps. We'll figure it out, cutie."
She had to smile at Spence's imploring look and Demy's slightly stuttered request. Winking impishly at the older male, she adopted a mock-serious tone of voice.
"Of course Spence is staying! I'd be forced to kick his a** and knot his arm behind his head if he tried to refuse!"

The waiter smiled a bit, imagining Lali trying to kick his a**. "Thanks." He was a bit stunned at Demy's urging to let him stay. Why would the little dumbass want him around? They hadn't gotten along very well since the band broke up...and perhaps before. Why would he want the elder audio around now?
"I'll help him," Spence offered. If he left Lali to help bathe him, the little runt might try to talk her into a full body sponge bath and he'd be damned if he'd let that happen, even if it meant having to bathe Demy himself.
