On the subject of yogurt, I NEED this (http://www.easiyousa.com/) yogurt making system/glorified thermos. Okay. I don't need. I just want. I'd love to be able to make my own yogurt. I buy stonyfield occasionally because it's the only commercial brand that doesn't include gelatin and it's organic. Still to have your own yogurt whenever you want would be pretty awesome.

There are directions for making yogurt, cheeses, etc., in an old book "Stocking Up". The trick with yogurt is to keep it a constant temperature for several hours. Any good thermos should work if the mixture is the right temperature when you pour it in. You can use the yogurt that you like for starter.

Where i get my information

So soy milk for me ._.

Just a heads-up: MilkSucks.com is owned by PETA, who has a long track record of misinformation and blowing things out of proportion. They get things right some of the time, but often as not they get it wrong.

However, I found an article at the Weston A. Price Foundation website, which supports some of the negative reports on milk.

Mind you, they don't rate soy too highly, either.

That might depend on your point of view and what works best for your body. It's higher in carbohydrates, lower in proteins and fats, and would be almost nutritionally worthless if it wasn't fortified.

For someone like me (I'm hypoglycemic), that's bad.

Thankfully I'm lactose intolerant because I really love milk and cheese.

What I've been getting lately is Almond Breeze....almond milk? almond juice? It's tastes real good and is lower in calories than soy milk. It also has great nutrients. I can drink the original flavor straight, which I don't like to do with soy milk.

well rice milk sounds really tasty, in my opinion. i mean, horchata is made with rice, right? it's pretty yummy.
i just got really grossed out by what i read here about milk, and i'd like to use something different lol.
i work at jamba juice, and we use soymilk, and it tastes AMAZING, i drink it straight all the time. but i don't think soymilk from the store will taste like that.
and now i'm worried about the hormone thing.
there's so much stuff to worry about! gonk

Almond milk is delicious... I make it from time to time, though it's a pain in the a** to strain (soak raw almonds in water overnight, grind them up in the water in a blender, strain, drink, YUM.)

We use both soy & cow milk in my home. One of my family members is alergic to all kinds of animal milk so they use the soy. I tried it & didn't care for it. At least not the brand I bought. We usually get the silk brand.

I like real milk, but if you're a vegan, there are other options than soy milk.
There's Rice Milk and Almond Milk too..although I don't know if there's any negative effects to those too.

Rice milk is really good though. To me, it tastes 10x better than soy milk.

I'm loving almond milk! But so far, only Almond Breeze brand. I tried some organic stuff from Trader Joes(not sure if it's their brand) and it was kind of chunky and flakey. It did not go good with my coffee, bleh.

I haven't tried almond milk yet, but I do heart rice milk and recommend it.

If you have to drink animal milk, you're better of with goat's milk. It's easier to digest and has much less of the type of fat that is found in cow's milk (which also contributes to lactose intolerance, there's something about the body breaking down the fat)

I'm going to price out and compare almond milk to goat milk. I don't think rice milk sits well with me and I'm going to do without it.

Here's a good article I found about goats milk compared to cow milk:
