She has to be babied so much that I find it ridiculous to bother with her. And by the time you get her good there aren't many chapters left in the game. To me being good for the majority of the game is better then being great for the end only.

I just find it sad how much s**t people give characters like Marcus and how much they praise Nino when he has the potential to destroy more chapters than she does and he doesn't require a large amount of resources like she does. I especially find it sad how afraid people are of touching Marcus but how willing they are to devote an entire chapter to Nino to catch up.

I know how strong she can become when she's babied and given Afa Drops etc. But to spend so much time on one character for her to be good for a little while feels like a waste to me.

Ouch. Nino gets no lovin' from you, I take it.

Well, Marcus isn't exactly eye candy, plus after a few chapters he just fades into the background. Nino's backstory, on the other hand, is pretty dark, plus with that skirt of hers, she's easily in the "Mile-High Club". I can see where favoritism makes Nino popular and Marcus a joke.

And yes, Heath's got that axereaver, but aren't they tough to come by? But, I'm probably being silly, trying to hold onto it for bigger battles towards the end.

I haven't played this game in a while... If I recall correctly, I remember Hector being really strong. And Raven.

I do clearly remember never attempting to train Nino. My sister did, once, and told me she was really good, but the point in time when she enters the game is just too late. I'm so used to having units that can fend for themselves that having to train a beginner again just isn't worth it for me.

Some people use the mine trick, on the level where Sonia is a boss, so that Nino can grow up in one level.

Yeah, I've heard about the mine trick. I don't find Nino worth it is all.

Pent is often much more worth it. Simply by the fact that he's still pretty damn good and he doesn't require much baby-sitting at all. It's been proven that Erk can beat him by one or two stat points usually, but that's one less character you could have trained earlier.

I love Pent. Easy to use from the moment you get him and still strong in stats.
Erk wins in some stats... but Pent wins in others unless the averages I have are wrong.
They're both great at any rate.

Personally, I always use Nino, and I can usually class her up in Night of Farwells, unless I'm short a Guiding Ring. I even had her defeat Sonia once. I don't really like to use prepromotes, but Harken is generally good. I always use Rath, since he almost always turns out to have really good stats, as do Florina and Heath. I also use Priscilla (if I'm not using Serra, but Lucius is ultimately the better Bishop between the two), Canas, and either Rebecca or Wil. However, I'm attempting to get all of the supports, so lately, my character choices have been based on getting the supports I still need.

I don't get what people say is so great about Erk... maybe I just don't like how he's uptight to the nth degree, but he never strikes me as particularly godly in battle.

Well, for me he basically ends up as a typical mage except a tad sturdier maybe, and I like using mages~ That's only in my experience though, I'm not really sure how his average stats compare to others...

The only GBA FE game I really like mages in is FE6. Lugh is practically a must-have for all the Knight bosses early in the game, and Lilina is basically Hector if he were a mage. ...And changed genders.

Erk comes in at a chapter where you can just send Kent or Sain to solo every last enemy in the chapter. The chapter after that, he may be useful in helping beat the Knight boss, but following that, Lucius comes in as a really speedy light magic user, the only unpromoted one in the game.
Then in Hector/Eliwood's story, yes, the the first magic user you get, but he's pretty squishy. Compare this to Marcus or Hector or Oswin or Lowen or maybe even Eliwood, who can all take a beating.

Eh, even if you didn't level Erk once during Lyn's campaign, he can do good when he comes in for Eliwood. Or at least neutral Erk with Thunder can steal enough of my exp to annoy me.

Last time, my Erk got nailed on Lyn's campaign, so I didn't bother with him.

(Does anyone think we have enough here to consider debate topics, or nobody really feels like trying one?)

Nomad Rath
I always use Serra until Priscilla comes.
I prefer mounted units.

Oh, that was too good to pass up.

Personally... I like Lloyd and Fire Dragon. Nothing beats automatic nearly undodgable 37 Damage. Get enough speed to double that over, and anyone is dead.

Lloyd is good for his stats. Nearly impossible to beat with Linus standing there, if he criticals, you're dead. And still without Linus he's good.

(...And became younger and cuter.)

I trained Erk, and he was about half as good at the same level as Pent. Which was sad...

Nergal, I have to thank you. I love your spell to death. And you're not too bad yourself... But Lilina can topple you no problem. 30 MAG against 27... Not cool for your reputation.

Priscilla and Nils have the most luck settling at 30.(And topsy-turvy world Ninian has 30 when she steals it from her brother.)

Ninian/Nils is good to have. Unlike Lalum or Elphin of FE6, they don't suck and die in one hit...

I forgot about Raven. Raven's pretty good, but I don't think he's very useful in the final chapter. He seems to be all offense and not so much defense to survive.

Guy's amazing, but for some reason I just don't like using him. I always wind up dropping him later on.
