As the excitment was contagious, Kirjava heard her son's challenge. She smiled brightly before she bound off after him. The crimson lioness had given her son a couple seconds head start as her longer legs would definitely catch up to him quickly.
With her son in her sights, she called back playfully, "I'll beat you, Aapep!" She kept one eye on him and one eye on their surroundings. She could feel the ground soften beneath them. Sand wasn't something she hadn't messed with since her time in the desert. But it didn't take her long to hear the crashing of the waves. "The ocean!"

"You can try!" He called back over a shoulder, noting that hsi mother did indeed seem to be catching up. A smile spread its way across his face and he turned back just in time.
The ground began uneven and soft and slowly the grass gave way to dirt that gleamed gold. And then he too heard the sound of lapping waves and he slowed, enchanted.
The ocean sounded beautiful. He'd never experienced anything quite like it in his life. It made him crave for more. "Is this is, mother? The ocean? Is that what it sounds like?"

As Kirjava made her way to her son's side, she nodded. "Yes! That is the sound of the ocean!" She spoke softly under her breath, "It's just like everyone said it sounded like." She was eager to see it.
Her gaze travelled down to the sand, it was golden but nothing like the sand of the desert. This sand was much nicer, in her opinion. She smiled softly before she looked at her son, "Well, let's go and greet the ocean together then!" It had to be close, since the crashing of the waves on the shoreline was nice and loud.

"It's beautiful..." He whispered. He never thought he would tire of that sound. Now he understood what Jiza had meant when she said it was inspirational.
He'd have to bring Mawi here sometime.
He nodded and with a squeal of excitement he quickened his step, set off balance by the shifting sand beneath his feet. He almost fell on his nose a couple of times, forcing him to slow and suddenly the ground sloped upwards and he moved up to crest a dune, pausing for breath and to drink in the scene before him.
"The ocean..."

The sand underneath her paws was familiar, as Kirjava had spent a good portion of her life in the desert. She was used to the feeling, but she wouldn't ruin this moment right now. This was not the desert, it was the ocean. Her gaze travelled from her son to the sand beneath her paws. She scooped up some sand and watched it fall in-between her toes.
With a shake of her head, she turned her attention back to her son. She took a few steps towards him as they came to the top of a dune. At the top, she stopped and gazed outward. The sight that greeted her was nothing she ever could have imagined. It just took her breath away.
After she awed at the ocean, she glanced at her son, "We're here...we made it!" Now it was time to go and find Ravi.
