{Lazy Day for Someone...}
Stretching, Pika yawned and rubbed at her eyes. Reaching for her glasses, she half stepped out of bed and wobbled to her desk in the dark. Pale light just barely showed around the edge of her window curtain. Putting on her glasses she turned on the light and called out, "Good morning every critter!" as she looked around the room. One of her geckos glared baefully at her from inside his terracotta pot-cave. Pika had forgotten to feed him last night.
"I did not forget!" she replied to his glare. "You are going on a diet remember? You sleep all day and don't get enough exercise so that's that."
Swooping back beside her bed she leaned over and picked up an egg. A rather larger then normal egg that had been sitting infront of the heater. The room definately needed the heater as it was getting closer and closer to December. It had even snowed for one day already but the rain had quickly gotten rid of it. Cradling the egg in one arm she traced her fingers over the bronzy-golden symbol on it's surface. "I wonder what you are," she whispered to herself.
Today was going to be a lazy day, Pika sorely needed one. All week she had been at school till 11pm at night working on assignments. Padding to the bathroom she laid out her comb, toothbrush and toothpaste and stepped into the shower with her egg. Pulling on the warm water knob the relaxing jets of water ran through her hair and down her body, over the egg as well.
"Doesn't that feel nice?" she asked the egg. The egg seemed to wiggle in response. 'Eeep'ing Pika clutched it tighter.
"Don't let me drop you in the shower! I am going to give you a sponge-bath ok, so no wiggling!" Carefully she grabbed the lavender scented shower gel and squirted some on the bath-puff. Placing the bottle back on the shelf, she reached for the puff and unhooked it from the shower stall wall. Rubbing it over her neck to lather it up, the scent of flowers hit her nose like an explosion of purfume.
"Mmm smells nice, right?" she directed towards the egg. She began to rub the puff over the egg in small circles. It seemed to vibrate a little but not enough to make Pika lose her grip.
"I bet you'd like a bubble bath too, huh? How about later tonight then." Rinsing out the puff and her hair Pika placed the egg in the tub and stepped out to dry herself with a towel. The egg began to roll in circles on the bottom of the bath under the shower. Getting dressed, Pika shut off the water and used a towel to pick up the still rolling egg.
"Hey hey now! Don't tire yourself all out just yet! We are going to go by the Mysterian shop after breakfast and see who we see. Won't that be fun?"
Wiggling, the egg seemed to agree.

{Meeting new people...}
The egg began to roll around slowly. Pika eyed it on the carpet and saw nothing amiss or endangering and so turned back to the book. If the cover had been showing it would have said, "Journal of _____ ". Reading over what she had just written, Pika scratched her cheek absently and put the pen back to paper.
Quote: Shortly after we entered the store a mummy and a dragon appeared behind us! The dragon's name turned out to be Arrakis and she was very nice. She made us some tea. The mummy vanished almost as soon as I saw it, back out the front door. While Arrakis and I were talking a blue dragonish looking woman entered with a small angelic child. The angel's name was Kohaku and she seemed to connect to egg very well. She even sang for us! I'm making sure to make a list of people to invite over for egg's hatching day. After that we came home. ...'egg? I really must pick better names,' Pika thought. 'Ah well'...

{ Our Mosaic... }
Heading down the hall to her studio Pika noted the rainy grey sky through the skylights. Sighing she craddled egg in one arm while she pushed open the smooth oak door. Crossing the dusty and paint splattered floor she gentle laid the egg in a wooden bowl on the table to keep it from rolloing around too much. Rocking back and foreth the egg seemed to be in a playful mood.
Pika went to the shelving along the wall and took down a small but heavy box, placed it on the table and then grabbed a bag, also heavy, and a sponge.
"So egg, guess what we're doing today?" she said smiling. "What? You have no idea?" Pika gestured at egg while shrugging. Rolling her eyes she said, "We're making a mosaic! In a bowl!"
The bowl in question had been sitting on the table for some weeks now. It was a relatively large, white ceramic bowl that she had found in the trash near the potter's studio a few streets down. It had a small crack at the bottom center of the dish, but other then that is was fine. Perfect for a mosaic.
She took the small box and dumped the contents all over the table top. Small squares of glass tiles tinkled and shone as they spread out. Pika began to flip the downside-up ones over and sort them into sections based on colour.
"What's you favorie colour, egg? I was thinking of using a whole lot of colours for this mosaic in lines around the inside of the bowl."
She held up a tile that appeared to be red. "How about this red one?"
The egg gave no response.
"What about the blue one? It's the colour of the water and sky."
At this the egg quivered a bit.
"Ok I'll put the blue at the top most circle then so it has the longest section."
Sorting out the golds and blue, whites and oil slicked greens, Pika kept glancing up at her egg and wondering what was inside. It seemed to be rather good natured from what she could tell. It didn't roll around too much, if she berated it for making her chase after it. And it didn't knock her stuff around as it easily could have, being on her desk or tables for most of the day when Pika was at home. Sometimes its bronze coloured symbol shone, like when she gave it a bath or washed it in the shower. That made her wonder if it liked water alot.
All the glass tiles lay in colour-matching sections now so Pika went to the sink and grabbed a cup and plastic bucket. Filling the cup with water she made her way back to the table and set them down near the end. Taking the heavy bag she slashed a top corner off and poured a little of the powder into the bowl. This was supposedly supposed to make some sort of motar/cement like mix to stick the tiles to the surfact of the bowl with. Slowly she added water while stirring with one hand (she put rubber gloves on first) until it seemed all wet and not too runny. Then she spread some in the bottom of the bowl and began sticking tiles on with her other hand. In a matter of a few minutes the motar was too dry and Pika had to repeat this process quite a few times to get all the tiles on.
Al last all the tiles were stuck on, and Pika held the bowl up to catch the light coming through the window. A rainbow of colours shone and she grinned, delighted as the egg rocked back and foreth, like it was laughing. Setting it down to dry a bit before she applied the grout, Pika swept up her egg and tossed the gloves into the trash on thier way out and down the stairs.
"I don't know about you egg, but I'm hungry!" she said tossing egg up in the air and catching it two-handed.
Egg just vibrated a little as Pika went into the kitchen to make tea.

{ Christmas Carols... }
The snow was softly falling outside as the lights twinkled along the rows of shops and houses. The fresh scent of evergreens and peppermint filled the air as Pika deftly unloaded ornaments from boxes and danced around the tree to find them each a perfect perch. The tree was in the main foyer of her shoppe/home in one corner and it already twinkled with small coloured lights and tinsel.
Upon the counter sat egg, half wrapped in the tree's skirt. Beside egg there was a small girl, a Go-Go named Kurimu. She was leaning on a glass jar full of candycanes wishing they weren't quite so large. They were much easier to eat of Pika smashed them into flakes for her.
Pika was starting to hum Christmas songs as she hung the shining golden balls. Egg started to rock back and foreth to the melody. Suddenly there was a knocking on the door and music could be heard. Music much better then Pika's humming. Opening the door, the house was filled with song. Pika greeted the carollers and swept up egg to listen at the door. Nodding along, they both felt the spirit of the season in the lights and sounds, the warmth of the hearth and the cold of the snow, and in each other.

{A hatching....}
It had been a long day, Pika had been late for an appointment, caught a cold and missed breakfast while trying to avoid being late. Her feet were sore and so was her parched throat.
Unlocking the front door to her shoppe, she stepped inside away from the chill night air. Kicking off her shoes, she headed upstairs and unlocked her room and went inside. With a sigh she plopped her bags down and then headed for her loft bedroom.
It was strange... she heard an odd sound coming from her bed above. A soft sort of chirp and yet gurgling sound. It was unlike any sound she had ever heard of. Her hesitation soon brought about her curiosity, and anxiety. Gripping the ladder she slowly climbed up to her bed.
On the ground a few meters beside her bed heater lay two small figures; their bodies looked quite sticky from egg fluid... that they had just come out of. Their eyes were closed, and the soft sounds were coming from the pair. Twins.
She knew they were going to be twins and yet she couldn't hide her surprise. Moving over to them, she went to pick up the egg pieces so they wouldn't cut themselves but stopped as she realized that the two little ones had no legs... And where their legs were suppose to be were long elegant fins. Mermaids.
It took a second to get past the shock. She then realized she needed to get them into some water. Slightly panicked, she scooped them both up gently, and hurriedly moved down the ladder to the bathroom.
She lay them both down on a soft towel and then turned to the bath tub. She hesitated again. 'What if they needed salt water? Did it need to be cold or luke-warm?' Her mind reeled.
Pika decided fresh water for the time being, and then turned the tap onto luke-warm. Plugging the bottom of the bath tub she then scooped up the babies and gently put them into the water. The water helped to revive them somewhat. They wiggled in her hands and one then the other, opened their eyes slightly and chirped again. Pika could help but give a soft 'awww' at the sound.
Though it was soon apparent the babies could swim on their own they had trouble coming up to breath steadily. The little boy slipped out from her hand and then started to flail about in the water. Gasping, Pika scooped him up again and then decided perhaps she better get on in with them.

{ Yum-yum Tuna... }
Stroking the girl's soft wavy hair she examined them with her hands as they floated around in the water. The boy placed his small webbed hands on her thigh and made a chirping click as he made a move to gum her fingers.
Giggling she though, 'Oh dear they must be hungry!' and gently loosened his grip. Staring into his aqua eyes she told both of them she'd get them something to eat.
Stepping out of the tub they both grabbed the edge and peered at her as she dripped out the door. As she entered the kitchen she could hear them splashing and squealing at each other.
'hmm...fish, fish, fish...shrimp?' Pika considered as she debated what to try first. Feeling rather elated at how beautiful her two merbabies appeared she decided to go with the tuna as she had more of it them shrimp at the moment. Opening the cupboard she grabbed two cans of tuna and the can-opener. Taking off the lids she forked the tuna into a bowl and added some mayonnaise from the fridge. Mashing it in the bowl she walked back into the bathroom as the twins started to pull each others' hair.
"Now now none of that you two!" she sharply cried at them. Actually, she though it was quite funny that they were fighting already.
Sniffling the boy came over to the tub edge with his sister hanging on still. Pika took some tuna in her fingers and held it toward's him. "Mmm tastes good right?" she asked as he sniffed her fingers and gummed on to them again. His sister let go at this pointed and sqeaked at Pika for ignoring her.
Giggling Pika said, "Oh, so now you want some too huh? Well no more hair pulling then, ok?" The mergirl looked dubiously at her.
Putting down the bowl she took some with the free hand and offered it to the girl. The boy was licking her fingers now so she offered him some more. They made her feel both nervous and excited about how life would be from now on.
"I think I should call you..." she considered aloud. "Opal," she said to the little merboy, "for your paler face and hair. "And you are definately a Ginger," she said to the mergirl. "Sassy and bratty already," she grinned.
Feeding them the rest of the tuna she wondered how she was going to fit them in the rest of the house if they needed water all the time. 'This was definately going to be interesting...'
