Lyrus quirked a brow, but said nothing, and, after a minute of watching the bat girl, simply nodded and relaxed back against the wall. So, Noharu actually cared about something? Well, this day was just full or surprises. Nonetheless, Lyrus wasn't in the mood for a fight and, if those two had been here for as long as he imagined, he pitied the bat girl. Not Noharu, of course.

But, given the situation, he could at least try and get some answers. Closing his eyes and feigning boredom, he moved both hands to pillow his head against the wall, yawning before speaking. "So, where are we, anyway? And, er...who was that thing? Or what, even?"

---

Jaxom accepted the weapon, but frowned, eyeing it warily. This was Lyrus' knife. New, yes, but Jaxom recognized it--he had seen Lyrus threatening Coen earlier. Not that Lyrus had intended to actually hurt Coen, he thought, but still. "Lyrus wouldn't just give up this knife," he muttered, quirking a brow at Kilah. "And he'd throw a fit if he knew you gave it to me to take care of. What's going on?"

"I'm not sure where we are." The answer sounded honest enough. It was common knowledge for those who knew (and usually hated) her only one of her eyes was functioning, and that single one never edged away from the toddler beside her even the slightest. "Her name's Kajisha, I think. She's been ranting about something for a while. Something about a jewel or gem. A blue one, I think. Says it's been handed off to somebody."

As if suddenly realizing there had to be a reason she was now stuck here with someone high up on her shitlist, she raised an eyebrow and, "What are you doing here anyway?"

---

"Nothing that would concern you." She sounded it, but the words weren't just to be a b***h. Why would Jax care? He didn't like Lyrus, she knew that much. After that arguement a few days ago, no way he was concerned with her either. She decided he was just nosey. "Just keeping my word, Jaxom. Do I have yours you'll watch that?"

Oddly enough, he believed her. She had no reason to lie, after all. Though why she was here, he had no idea. As far as he knew, that imposter thing had no reason to drag her here. Unless she had been the one to steal this...crystal, she had said? But she didn't seem to know much about that either, so it was unlikely.

She had given her an explanation, he would give her one. Lyrus shrugged. "She seems to think me or Kilah stole her, er...gem, I guess. She was threatening to hurt Jax, not that I care, and was gonna take Kilah here until we could find the gem. But I came in her plaec, 'cause..." He shrugged and left it at that. It was enough. "I don't think I've seen any blue gems recently."

---

"You're handing me my brother's knife, which he would not part with lightly, and it doesn't concern me?" Scowling, Jaxom pocketed the knife and started to turn away, but shook his head and tightened his grip on the spear, returning his gaze to Kilah. "I can't just stand by. Give me an honest explanation, and maybe I'll take care of the knife. What's going on? And why do you have this?"

"Jax?" Noharu repeated curiously. The situation was a serious one, so laughing suddenly like she didn't quite seem appropriate. "You mean that boy who likes Akilah? You've got to tell me what's wrong with that boy." How Noharu had heard such things wasn't something Lyrus probably wouldn't know, but he would be able to see how much it amused her.

Someone liking that little b***h at all was amazing, but liking her like that? There just weren't any words for it! "Where's Akilah, then? Did she get killed already?"

---

His questions were annoying. Really annoying. Couldn't he just agree to watch the damn knife and leave her alone?! "Well, Jax, don't watch it then. It's no blood out of my veins when Lyrus finds out you lost it. Sure, he'll be mad at me, but as long as he's alive that's just fine."

Shoving her hand in her pocket, she pulled out one gem, then another, and another. The shapes were slightly different, probably how Kilah told them apart. "If you must know, there's a clone or something running around. Lyrus is an idiot. You know, kind of like you. So, he agreed to go with the dumb thing so she wouldn't take me instead. Now, I have to go save his a**, and there's an extremely annoying boy making me waste time explaining it. Any OTHER questions?"

"Yeah, him," Lyrus snapped, suddenly wondering why he had bothered to protect Jaxom in any way. "He's just a p***k," he hissed, folding his arms across his chest with a scowl. Bloody pink-haired son of a house cat. Lyrus was beginning to hope they wouldn't fine the gem, just so that shape-shifter girl could come back and murder Jax after she killed him. Good stuff. "Kilah's looking for the gem."

---

Jax raised a brow, staring at Kilah in open confusion. Lyrus did something nice? Something that didn't involve him looking out for only himself? Well, that was a one in a million chance. Even if it was to keep Kilah safe. There was a brief moment where Jaxom considered returning to his room and laughing when Lyrus died, but he quickly decided against it. Lyrus had been nice for once, he could do the same. "Yeah, I met the clone. She was pretending to be you. What does she want? I'm going to help."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2005 6:32 pm

"Oh, is that what you think she'll do?" Noharu laughed again. Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. Wasn't that the saying? Maybe that's why she seemed positive she knew the Sin'aeis better than her little friend here. "And even if she does, did you ever stop to think what the b***h wants the gem for? Do you know what will happen if she gets it?"

---

"HA! Like hell you are!" Kilah raised her injured arm and waved a hand as if it dismissed the subject. Her other held a total of five gems, each of which she dropped. They clanked loudly on the floor, and once settled there lit up. The music began as it had once before. "Go away now, I need to focus or I'll mess up." And who knew what would happen then...

Lyrus scowled, reopening his eyes to shoot Noharu a glare, but remained silent. Kilah would find the gem and get him out of here. He was sure of it. And then the conspiracy theories set it...But, NO. he wouldn't believe it this time. The boy blocked his thoughts to the various plots plaguing his brain, instead focusing on what the girl would do with the gem when she got it. True, he hadn't thought about it, but gems weren't the most threatening of things, generally speaking. Right? Right. Harmless.

---

"No. I want to help." He didn't sound completely genuine; his interest was on the gems right now, not the situation. Shiny musical things. Jaxom liked them. He quirked a brow, watching the gems curiously, but finally pulled his eyes away and glanced back to Kilah. "What's she looking for?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2005 6:48 pm

"STOP IT! LET ME GO! RULER AND KIKI WILL BE MAD AT YOU FOR THIS!" Following the loud screeches, one of the two doors creeked upon, and slammed shut once the girl was tossed inside. Aggravted, she sat on the ground and pounded her fists on it a few times before realizing anyone else was there.

First, she examined Karoko and Noharu, who didn't seem to hold her interest for long. Next, Lyrus, who was a completely different story. "HEEEEY!" With the sudden yelp, the tanned girl launched toward Lyrus, stopping only an inch or so infront of him. The fox ears tangled messily in her purple hair twitched, her tail swaying. "I remember you! You're Kiki's friend! Ooh!"

With no respect for personal space, she reached up and pulled on his hair lightly as if to confirm it was real. "And you have hair now! It's a pretty color! It matches that gem I gave you!"

---

"Well, if it's an annoying, nosey boy, maybe you should come along!" Sarcastic and then some. The music stopped, as did the glowing, the gems lying motionless on the floor. "Look, the last spell I cast, I ended up with this." She motioned to the blindfold carelessly. "This one, if I get it wrong, might just kill me. While I'm aware you don't care, you can at least be decent enough to go away."

Lyrus' eyes turned towards the door as the shouts began. He quirked a brow, watching boredly as the girl was uncerimoniously dumped inside. She looked somewhat familiar... The boy actually jumped slightly when she pratically dove atop him, straightening up against the wall and eyeing her warily. Now he remembered her. Oh, goody. Sighing, he relaxed someone, eyes idly following her hand towards his hair. "Yeah, I did, and--"

He froze, mouth dropping open. No way was it that simple. In an instant he was on his feet, nearly bowling the girl over as he stepped past her, running a hand through his hair while he paced the room. What had he done with that damned crystal?! And how was he going to let Kilah know? "It's your fault we're in this mess," he suddenly snapped, whirling on the girl. Then, sighing, he turned away and resumed his pacing. Dammit, where had he put that gem? It had been too big to fit in his treasure box...

---

Jaxom scowled, but the threat was enough that he backed off. He didn't know what she was doing, but he certainly didn't want her to die in the process. Nodding slightly, he took a step back, then turned and headed back down the hall towards his room. "But only until you're done with...whatever you're doing. I'm going to help. Somehow."

"WHAT?! You mean you've got it and forgot?! You stupid little b***h!" Well, so much for not cursing. Bad Noharu. The bat girl beside her jumped, clutching to her guardian's arm despite her being the source of the startling yell. The older of the two fox demons present growled, watching the boy pace.

The younger of them looked hurt by the accusation, then confused. "What do you mean, lamby lamb? Those people are after you? Don't worry! They went away to get somebody. Um, a boy and a girl. Yup!"

---

Kilah said nothing. All she had to do was wait and hope. Wait until the idiot walked into his room, and then hope this damn spell would work. All she needed was--

The screech from outside broke her thoughts, two of the five gems suddenly shattering, apparently a reaction of the spell being canceled. "Gizmo?!" Who would even know where they are?!

"She gave it to me!" Lyrus argued defensively, jabbing a finger accusingly at the girl. "It's...It's on my shelf," he decided, slowly lowering his hand. he had to have put it there. it wouldn't fit in his treasure box, but it was a pretty gem.. He wouldn't have hidden it away. "It has to be there. They..They'll find it, and we'll be out of here in no time." He brightened up somewhat, but it was clearly forced. Jaxom wouldn't think to look in Lyrus' room and, somehow, he doubt Kilah would as well.

His 'smile' fading, he glanced back to the girl, confused. "They went to get... but they were giving Kilah time to find it!" He shouted to no one in particular. Snarling, he stalked over to the door, banging loudly on it. "We need to get out of here and help. Or at least get to the gem first." Okay, so knocking was useless. End stupid moment. Calming somewhat, Lyrus set about inspecting the door for any weakness...

---

Jaxom jumped visably at the sound of the shattering gems, whirling around to see what had happened. The sight wasn't very informative. Screw the spell--he doubted she could cast it without those gems anyway. He quickly returned to her side, holding his spear in his uninjured hand. "What'd Gizmo say?"
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2005 7:26 pm

"You can't go out there, little lamb!" The girl wailed loudly, dashing over and grabbing the hand he was pounding on the door with, attempting to pull him back. "Be quiet or they'll bring Her here! She does bad things! She'll hurt you!"

---

"Somebody's outside." Kneeling down, she brushed her hand along the ground. One...two...three. Hm, five seemed the minimum for most of these damn spells to work, but she could manage if she tried hard enough. Back on her feet, the three gems remaining in tact burst into life again. "I'm going out there, too. Go back in your room and stay there."

Scowling, Lyrus tugged his hand free. "We have to get out there and help Kilah." And Jaxom. Maybe notsomuch Jaxom. But oh well. "Something tells me if there...er...the people get to that gem first, they won't be letting us out of here any time soon." If at all. "It's worth the risk." Still scowling faintly, he turned back towards the door. Maybe he could pick the lock...?

----

"Yeah, right." Jaxom rolled his eyes, forgetting she couldn't see. "I've already told you I'm going to help, and I'm going to help. Atear says he'll meet us outside." Exactly when Atear had said this, Jaxom didn't bother to point out. The kitten had, and that was all that mattered. "Let's go."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 19, 2005 7:44 pm

Sighing in defeat, the girl moved to the side and from then on seemed content to observe. At the same time, she was convinced Lyrus wouldn't be able to do too much. For a place that lacked technology, they sure made good locks. "Little lamb should just sit down," she finally said softly, ears low. "They'll hurt Kiki and the other one. We can't do anything..."

---

"Piss off, Jax." It was all Kilah had time to say before the song ended. The remaining gems and the Sin'aeis vanished. She must've been lucky, because that spell had worked for the second time. Just transported outside the house, not another time or anything.

When something suddenly knocked her over, she changed her tune fast. Scratch that part about being lucky. "Leave Gizmo alone!" Kilah demanded in a hiss, wincing as someone slapped her across the face.

"Shut up, you little demon!" Noyama's voice hissed sharply at her. Seems Ms.Shapeshifter had picked up a new disguise. "Where's the other one? And what you stole from me? Your time is up!"

"Shut up!" Lyrus shouted, whirling on the girl once more. However, this time he wasn't satisfied with just a yell. A quick yank severed the cord of his necklace, and without a second thought he threw the glass pendant for the girl--or so it seemed. In fact, the pendant sped right by her and shattered against the wall. Snarling under his breath, Lyrus shoved past her and over to the mess of glass shards, brushing them into the palm of one hand with nor regard for the few slivers that actually cut him; he was used to it.

Returned to the door, he crouched beside it and began working the glass slivers back together. The product, while slightly jagged and lumpy in places, was a narrow rid of glass, hooked slightly at one end. A few more touches, a few more 'hooks', and Lyrus began fiddling with the lock, movements slow and careful. He didn't want to break the glass. Not that he was entirely sure what he was doing, but Isto had explained it to him once... Maybe it would work.

----

The instant Kilah vanished, Jaxom broke into a run, heading downstairs and outside, taking only a short diversion to meet Atear on the way. Still, it would be a few minutes before he reached her...
