With another snort, Cohna stared at the other stallion and shook his head. While the golden horse stood between him and Samsara, he didn't move from his position. Instead he just narrowed his eyes some before speaking in return.
"I have no reason to hurt her," he started after Samsara had given an explanation, "I heard a foal cry in pain, and came to see what was going on. We may not have many predators, but that doesn't mean a hungry one wouldn't try going for a foal."
Twitching some, he glanced over towards the foal before turning back to her father.
"If it had been some hungry wolves or a bear, would you have heard her cries then? Or would she have just been in the belly of a beast by now?"

Haya's temper showed no sign of abating. If anything, the other stallion's words seemed to have incensed him more. His nostrils flared then narrowed and his hooves stomped up and down around his cowering daughter. "If there were wolves or bears... I would have smelled them! Do you think I'm really so irresponsible that I'd leave her somewhere with predators around? It's only..." His tail smacked against the ground, raising a swirling puff of dirt behind him.
"It's only the soquili like you that I or she has to worry about." His movements stilled but his anger had simply gone cold, not left him. "Wolves are easy to avoid... but rotten soquili are everywhere." Everywhere and you could never truly tell which were which. At least he wouldn't let this one continue to be near his daughter.
Still beneath her father, Samsara looked at Cohna in quiet apology. He had been frightening but she hadn't thought he would really hurt her. She tried to raise her voice to say as much but she could only manage a choked squeak. It didn't even seem like her father had noticed the sound, so intent he was on the other.

Keeping his attention on the golden stallion, Cohna just smirked in amusement for a moment or so. Sure the other male had kalona in him, and he seemed to be rather angry, but he still wasn't about to be intimidated by him.
"Smell? And what if you happened to be upwind?"
As the other stopped thrashing somewhat, the darker stallion let out a bit of a scoff.
"Heh. I can't say for certain how 'rotten' I am, but even I should be the least of your worries. Besides, she'll need to toughen up sooner or later; you can't always be lurking around the nearest bushes to keep her safe."

"Toughen up?" The nerve of this other stallion struck a nerve. He thought that he could tell Haya what was best for his own children? With his temper flaring Haya could barely keep himself from lashing out. It was only his daughter beneath him that kept him restrained. He didn't want to lose himself to anger with her around. She... was sensitive. He didn't want to frighten her.
"If she does need to toughen up I'll be the one doing that." He glared at the other stallion, as if daring him to disagree. "It's my job as her father to look after her... and I won't have you bothering her."
He wasn't bothering me... well... he was, but... He had been bothering her and even scaring her a little... but Samsara didn't like the way her father was acting because of it. It was almost as if he was bullying Cohna and Sam didn't like bullies.
She began to climb back up to her feet. Even standing to her full extent she could stay beneath her father. It was the flutter blood in her that kept her small just like it was the kalona blood in him that made him so big.

Cohnachan stared at the other stallion rather cooly. Out of the corner of his eyes, he noticed Samsara standing up beneath the belly of her father. It was a little odd to see that, but he just brushed that off and focused on the golden colored stallion once again.
"The way you said that makes it sound like you're going to beat her. Like I said, you may be her father, but she won't be 'daddy's little girl' forever. When she grows up, who knows what'll happen?"
It wasn't a direct disagreement towards the other, but it certainly still was a challenge of sorts. He could sense rage bubbling up, and he wondered just what it would take to get him to snap.
