LuLuLu I think it's a good opportunity for new people to join the comic community. Watch it in the movies, if you think it's interesting then wiki the article. If you're still interested, just jump right in. At least that's what I did. =p See? This is how people should be doing it. Not like my idiot classmate who thinks he knows everything just cause he watched the movie(s) scream

POPTO IS TO POPTART I have alot of friends who (in the past) though my love for comics was sorrta dumb, but all of the sudden its " Whens the new batman come out?!" or "Ironman is so cool!." This makes me mad cause i used to be the only kid who walked with his head tall wearing a hellboy shirt. Now, I see 10 a day.
I can definitely relate, in a way. My resentment isn't from the fact that they call themselves fans or anything, I think that's great. Not entirely accurate, but great. My issue is would come from the fact that in elementary, I used to be a huuuge Spiderman fan. Everyone knew this. At the same time, it was something to tease me over. I'd get made fun of and such, which I'd say I brought upon myself, and so I naturally became less and less interested in it. A year later, the first Spiderman movie comes out(which I did not watch until several years later, for the above-mentioned reason) and suddenly everyone is all up on the Spiderman bandwagon. The same people who only a year earlier would chastise me for it.Of course I'd be upset.
Continuing with the topic, as far as movies go, I think they're great. Not always completely faithful to the comics, but they help bring people into this sub-culture. A decade ago, being into these things would have been seen as somewhat of a negative trait, labeling you as a geek or something, but because of films, people who are into comics and such can be more easily accepted. Sure, I've always liked the idea of 'excusivity', but overall I think this is for the best.
