Gemstone Which rod do you guys use? I'm using the basic, I bought it just to see how the game works, but I tried fishing in Gambino and it was murder to actually catch something. neutral First train up in Bass'Ken using your bog standard Basic Rod - then, when you think you're good enough, move up to Gambino and fish there (it's not that hard, honest). Don't think of going to Durem, since it's bloody murder, at least until you get yourself a Strength Rod. And never use anything bar the grade D bait, it's just not worthed. Ever. If you manage to upgrade your Strength Rod then you can sing yourself all the way to fishing nirvana, since the Strength+ is the best out there.

I'm using the basic, I bought it just to see how the game works, but I tried fishing in Gambino and it was murder to actually catch something. neutral I have a basic, a strength and a performance plus rod. After 6 hours of fishing the Durem and Gambino games, I found the strength rod was more than good enough to catch the three types of 'common' fish in each game, all with Grade F bait. The extra 40 feet of casting distance the performance plus rod gives over the strength rod isn't worth 15,000 gold. The Sand and Roque Bolders are easy to land with either the performance plus or strength rods. What's funny is that they are worth more than the tunas found in the Gambino game. I have only caught one icy tuna but landed more than 35 of each bolder so far. I've not been able to land any of the ultra rare fish so far, no matter what casting distance or bait I've used.

Well as Gambino's sixth best fisher... I used the Distance Plus.
And looks like the score is reset for January. Looks like I have a chance at number 1.
Oh look there's my crown. *KING NOTHING*

This being Gaia, the champion in any of the events gets... absolutely nothing! No matter how hard/loud you get to complain!
Totally sucks, mind you. Maybe they'll bring out some fancy new fish shaped helmets for the new crop of winnars.

Gah, you know I am gonna hate this whole day now because of the reset.
We have CRAZIES. Crazies trying to be King Nothings. Of course there is the whole trophy thing but I dunno how that works (is it one for overall and one for each area of Gambino or is it the top ten in each place gets a trohpy).
GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
SPLOOSH.

magnumT: That's the thing, I did fine with my Basic in Bass'Ken, then I tried Gambino and it was 400x more difficult. Then, as I stated earlier, there was an error of some sort and I lost my bait and what little I caught all in one go. xp How much do the upgrades cost?
fpgilmore: Ok, so you're another of several people to say the Strength Rod, and from what Kojiro said, it actually IS worth time as it can bring profit... In which lake do you find the Bolders?
Wyrd: If you win, I'll do something crazy like make you an avitar edit (absolutely crappy job, but you can humor me and my lack of skill, alright?) with some crown or something. xd
So then, Strength Rod, work my way to better locations, but which bait? Thanks for all the input you guys.

Upgrades are stupidly expensive. Something in excess of 10,000, and that's just for the basic rod+. For the strength rod I believe it's well over 11,000.
As for bait - use grade D, the others are just not worthed. Especially if you're fishing for profit and not, say, trying to capture the SUPER DUPER RARE FISH ALPHA.
Good luck, and happy fishing... 3nodding

In which lake do you find the Bolders? Only in the Durem Reclaimation Pond. And I don't think the 10,000 gold upgrade makes the Strength Plus rod worth more as a general use rod. I still don't get why the upgrades cost so much. Quote: So then, Strength Rod, work my way to better locations, but which bait? Thanks for all the input you guys. 99% of the time you're best off using Grade F bait. I've tried Grade D and A with no improvement to my catches. In fact, I tend to catch everything with Grade F bait. And good luck with your new rod!
