I hate politics. stressed

Sorry, just had to say it.

Monarchy seems to be the thing in my world, currently. At least on one of the continents. There's one empire, two kingdoms, one principality (once its own kingdom, now under the rule of the neighbouring kingdom), and one theocratic empire. Well, sort of empire. It was an empire, then their Empress did something to anger their god who killed half the imperial family and declared the throne empty until he says they can return. Now a High Priest(ess) rules it. It's sort of military as well because if the High Priest dies before he has chosen a successor among the clerical (or - as is the case in my story right now - refuses to choose a successor), a high-ranking general assumes the position as the ruler until the priest have chosen a new High Priest.

I just hope I get all this politics stuff right. I don't understand it at all. Still trying to organize the mage council in a way that could actually work.

Small edit: Just had an idea that I'll turn one of the kingdoms into an aristrocracy. Seems like something my elves would do.

Yeah, politics certainly is confusing. I wonder how many of our world's politicians in our world go home every night wanting to ram their heads repeatedly into brick walls?

In any case, politics is a game, and it's a very dangerous one.
Somewhere, someone or a group of people in a political position is being screwed over in one way or another. It always happens in films, anime, gaming, and in the real world. Politics causes no end of arguments, and because nobody can agree to disagree, we get war after war after war.
It's human nature isn't it?

Sadly, without politics in writing there's no clarity at all. The world would be dull and a rather pointless place to be.

Politicians ramming their heads into brick walls, what an amusing thought!

I know it's necessary. The world - any world - probably wouldn't work without politics. I still wish I could go without it. Alas, that is impossible so I will just have to read about it as much as I can, and at least try to understand.

I'd been writing my book, and somehow everything seemed far too...happy in the world. There were no conflicts of interest, no wars....everyone was content with one another. Mistake. Very boring. No wonder I was finding the plotline to be moving far too slowly. So, I restarted again (this was some time ago mind you) and have been trying to rework the plot by including some bickering with other countries as well, and working that into the main plot where necessary and relevant too.
