Mel is an avatar!anthro. Me. Me is me, this is me. I am no one else. Do I really need to talk this way? Ahem. The blue dragon was a creature that came time and again, not just as a result on those little personality tests, but in simple everyday life. It is not usually reflected by my avatar because frankly, I had lost hope long ago in ever being able to look like a dragon on Gaia. ^^; This anthro's name is a personal pun, and if you get it, you are a stalker and need to be shot. ;>> The nicks are ones I've picked up along the way though.

-[ Abilities ]-
Besides the ability to annoy the hell out of just about anybody, that or scare the hell out of them? He has a certain affinity, love, or simply feels some kind of pull anyway, to the forces of water, storm, and fire (the latter to stare at, sit by, etc. but not to use). There is also an affinity with animals and small children and often bonds with them in only sort periods of time.

-[ Attitude ]-
Oy. Bipolar? Nah... I prefer to call it 'unbalanced.' Or maybe your axis is the tilted one? O8 Yes, random rules. In general, when happy or excited about something, he can be a chatterbox, give a direct opinion, and tell bizarre jokes. Does not hesitate to set people straight, but if they need a hug, showers them with glomps, shares a bit too readily (though it may not be much ^^; ). On the other hand, he may go through long periods of depression where creativity and inspiration goes down the drain, leaving everything to rot, which goes for anything from sci-fi/fantasy "opera" novels-in-progress to experiments in art. In general, plans are centered around the family ("my boys" - the inhabitants of the 'Pocket of Nullspace'), though easily distracted by profound ideas, stray thoughts, and immediate problems so much of the time. He often prowls the halls, say on a mission ("from GAD"), or out of boredom, or simply because of an idea and not really paying attention to where he's going. OH. The swords, did I forget the swords? He carries a pair of katana. Even Sian and Amrit are wary of pissed-off-Mel (or defensive as the case may be) and keeps their distance. When defending an ally, he tends to black out and attack without realizing what he's doing, though preferred methods of revenge and punishment lean toward the slow, painful, and memorable. 8D <3

-[ Likes ]-
Wearing lime-green socks and arm socks at home (though the feet would probably have to be toe-less socks) is common. A vast love of books has lead to an awe-inspiring collection though only about half have been read, probably due to a love of anime and manga. Favorite subjects are meshable (and "realistic") sci-fi and fantasy, and the occasional horror flick with good plot (the Alien and Predator, Hellraiser, and Saw series in particular). A total pack rat when it comes to collections, loving shiny things including silver jewelry and pewter figurines. Loves green fire and often sits in to watch the necromancers.

-[ Dislikes ]-
Bigots, two-faced know-it-alls, icy stairs, getting up in the morning, going to bed before morning, being in large bodies of water, smothering, being short, compromising (does it a lot anyway), feeling emo abandoned or like feelings of emotional d00m, mob mentality and "sheep," being that which he hates, and some others we can't think of off the top of our head.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Internal weeping is common. External weeping comes once or thrice in a blue moon, and is hidden by smiles, friendliness, jokes, and inbred stubbornness.

-[ History ]-
Too much to tell, never enough trust to convey it. Short yet stormy, wrought with love, betrayal, and much angst.

-[ Basis ]-
Inari, fox-god of agriculture from Japanese mythology, known for dressing as a beggar and testing the charitability of men. Depending on the source, Inari may have been a god (agriculture) or a goddess (rice). For this reason, my Inari is listed Uke over Seme, in case anyone was wondering if that was a typo... The god Inari was associated with the fox and with the spider. His petpet, Yeta is also associated with the Inari mythology, specifically the beggar aspect of the myth. Any beggar on the street may be Inari in disguise and should be treated with respect. (information from the Encyclopedia Mythica online).

-[ Abilities ]-
Can cook with the best of them; the local Anthropomorphs' Iron Chef. ;3
Has a strange affinity with nature and animals. Can calm or befriend, "charm," any creature or person that allows him to (in other words, that is not openly hostile).

-[ Attitude ]-
Inari has an ever-present smile on his face that is partly his facial structure (slanted eyes, wide mouth, etc.), partly practiced mask. He can, if he tries, fake any pain with a smile, trick the eye into believing a sprained ankle is merely a spring in his step. It is part of how he has survived for countless centuries on his own. And you thought it was the cute tail and wings.

-[ Likes ]-
Though he is the cook, the way to Inari's heart is through his stomach. It is about his favorite thing in the whole world, and as long as it was prepared with love, even the worst-tasting food will be relished. He prefers rice (inari-sushi of course) and is a tea connoisseur. It is partly his fault that the shop is so well-stocked with such a wide variety of teas. He also has a bad habit for sticking out for the little guy, playing the vigilante by pretending to be frail when really he is not, just to attract the right predator to punish with his own brand of justice.

-[ Dislikes ]-
He really has a hard time allowing people to wallow in their own self-pity, which leads to one of his larger vices, that of his tendency to meddle in other people's business. Usually this is focused solely on those he considers close family and friends, and especially those whose problems should never have been allowed to continue for so long.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Strange as it might seem, Inari would rarely risk his own life for anything if given the choice. For a close loved-one yes, but not for a cause or idea. He relies on his wiles and a sense of opportunism; to die in the process of seeing his own ends meet would defeat his greater purpose (whatever that might be). So while his sense of justice and loyalty are great, he would rather see an opponent win the battle than give up his chances at winning the war.

-[ History ]-
It is unclear whether this Inari is the Inari. All that is known is he is a monk of sorts for the cause and has been wandering for ages. It is only more recently that he has relented in his wandering to settle down, though he still likes to travel back and forth with Pierre to France. For all anyone knows, this could all be a "temporary" thing in the grand scheme of his life.

"Pierre" is a French version of the name, Peter, which means stone in Aramaic. Besides that, I have no knowledge on his basis, as he was literally created by Imagica (see below).

-[ Abilities ]-
Even at an early age, Pierre was capable of phasing in and out of reality, or through objects. He seemed able to float on air, whether or not he could perform such feats as levitation or flight. He has a peculiar inability to articulate words, like an animal, but from a young age learned to express his thoughts and feelings through growls, yips, and gestures. (It also helps when one's lover is so empathically tuned with him as to be almost telepathic.)

-[ Attitude ]-
Pierre's personality is like a finely balanced mixture of human and animalistic tendencies, stalking with fine grace and lolling tongue offsets complex emotions and ideas that in some cases cannot hope to be properly expressed. For all that he was born only a short few years ago, he has lived a lifetime while managing to keep an almost childlike optimism. Or perhaps he merely lives in the now, unlike many of his peers.

-[ Likes ]-
Unknown, beyond that which should be censored.

-[ Dislikes ]-
Being mute, a condition that has often made him envious of even his own mate. Inari is sensitive to this and tries to accommodate by speaking only when he cannot help it, or when he must explain a point in detail. He has also offered to help him learn things like shorthand and keyboarding.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Unknown, except perhaps to Beau and Imagica.

-[ History ]-
Pierre was created by a gravarr (like an anthropomorphic feline) sorceress named Imagica. Together with her beloved dragon Beau, raised the young wolf and taught him worldly ways. At a tender age, infancy by many standards, he was, shall we say, not innocent. Yet he maintained an animalistic innocence that is rare and cherished by those who can understand its significance (and not mistake it for a simplistic mind).

Inari was one of those whom could appreciate the beauty of Pierre's soul. In the wolf's wanderings into the Anthropomorph shop, it took little time for them to connect and fall deeply in love.

It is unclear how long it took them to find, build, or otherwise procure their cottage in France, but soon enough they had begun to divide their time between their two homes. Because of this mild case of wandering, they were out of the country when the Nullspace imploded out of existence.

Roleplay archive: The French Countryside

-[ Basis ]-
The name Ignatius comes from the Latin ignis, meaning "fire." Originally it was a family name of Roman (Etruscan) origin. Brand, his petpet, has a name with a dual meaning: the name referring to the sword (which is how he uses his tongue), or the word meaning "burn," both of which are German in origin.

-[ Abilities ]-
Ignatius is the element of fire, or seems to be something close to it. Capable of anything from creating waves of heat and a light breeze to full scale firestorms, forest fires, and some rare infernos capable of melting metal, his powers are only so powerful through many years of careful practice and control (and many, many mistakes).

-[ Attitude ]-
Iggy has a bright, almost childlike personality, coupled with a highly social flirtatiousness. Unfortunately, his naivete (or rather undying hope for the best) tends to get him into trouble especially in matters of the heart. He has a communal mind, wants his friends and family in the same area so they can always be together. And when they can not or will not, it hurts him deeply. He is a little too empathic for his own good, wanting everyone to be happy and often putting himself last, which makes some wonder how he ever made it as an Alpha. They probably don't want to know...

-[ Likes ]-
He loves making people happy, mediating being one of his greatest achievements (and worst frustrations) as an Alpha. Cute, fuzzy, soft things. Snuggling. Bunnies, kittens, just about any baby animal. The Easter holiday. Ancient Egypt, though he rarely mentions this (and only David, Keahi, and possibly David know about it). He falls in love easily (if he lets himself), and does not fall out of it: he only falls into despair.

-[ Dislikes ]-
Alcohol, for its dangerous affect on his flame; water for its opposite affect on his flame. Discord, chaos, anger, spite. Those who would hurt another for his own gain or entertainment. Anyone under his jurisdiction disobeying a direct order (pisses him the hell off o_O; ). Having to use force, though he has no qualms using it...

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Iggy is secretly(?) a worrywart, something that his closest friends have seen a little bit of. Again, it goes back to his need to make everyone happy. If they aren't happy, somehow it must be his fault and he feels a desperate need to fix the problem. He is also afraid of hurting others physically, which might be why he likes to "spread the love" as it were. All of his emotions, good and bad, he feels intensely, and this is tied in closely with his control of the element of fire. He fears that to lose control would mean the destruction of property and the loss of life. He might have something there...

-[ History ]-
Like many of the residents, Ignatius' past is shrouded in mystery. How old is he? Just how did he, who seems too soft-hearted for the job become the alpha of cats? It is rumored that alphas have to "give something up" when they attain their station. What did he give up? Is that long-suffering look something he picked up "recently," or has he really suffered for a long time? Nobody knows.

Once it was hinted that he has been to Egypt. He seemed to know something about the worship there of cats in ancient times. Perhaps he has firsthand knowledge...

What is known is that he has a lot to learn about people. In his desire to keep those closest to him together, he thought that perhaps he could snag two mates at once. He ended up losing both...

He does have one son (of twins) who has tried to pick up the slack of being an alpha without his beta. Kudos to Keahi for giving up any semblance of living life for the sake of living...

Jimi's additude is purposely quite repellant. The walls he has erected to keep others away have succeeded except with the most empathic and determined of individuals. Who would want to strike up a conversation with someone who sits in a dark corner all day playing dark and depressing music? Or who has nothing but negative things to say, eyes you with a golden-eyed glare that just dares you to pick a fight? Very few...

Rock 'n' Roll, American Football, alcohol (beer mostly).

-[ Dislikes ]-
Pink, frills, ruffles, goths. Okay, most goths. Angsty whiners. Yes, this includes himself, even though he doesn't whine. Polygamy; despises it. Hates cats in general, thanks to Haru and Ignatius.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Jimi is passionate deep down, something that often shows in his music when he is not careful. Haru is also good at bringing that side of him out of him, though he is still reluctant to show it. This has nothing to do with Haru, it is simply Jimi being Jimi...and afraid to let go, to trust anybody, not Haru, not his friends, and least of all not himself.

-[ History ]-
Much of Jimi's history is unknown, simply because he won't talk about it. Those who know about it are not the type to discuss it unless he brings it up.

Ancient history will tell you that he was the leader of a motorcycle 'gang'. They generally kept to themselves unless they were tearing up the streets on their hogs, or random bars on Friday nights.

More recently, Jimi started a "band" with some of the other anthros in the Nullspace and called it Asphalt Candy. Almost everyone plays guitar, so it can't really be called a true band. No one plays for cash, just to get their feelings out, though Horea used to be the front man for a real band that played small venues. That was how he met Jimi years ago and... right... we weren't going to talk about that.

Jimi finds his time is taken up fixing up the Nullspace, trying to maintain good relationship with his son, hanging out at Ed's bar downstairs... and looking for a real job. Whenever he's alone he thinks about Haruna, or Horea, which he really hates to do. Goddamn them both. Better to be busy all the time, or drunk... which is impossible, considering his mythical constitution.

-[ Basis ]-
Val is a cosplay of Vincent Valentine, a character from the Final Fantasy 7 series by SquareSoft. Vinny was as a sniper (and former Turk) with were-beast tendencies and a clawed arm.

-[ Abilities ]-
Flight (he has two sets of wings!), inhuman agility. Uncanny aim and ability to shoot just about anything that used gunpowder (I'd like to see how he does with a cannon or bazooka). Nocturnal, mysterious, private, and other qualities that make people wonder if he's really a vampire (he is not). He also seems to get along with kids rather well... they and other loners seem to open up to him fairly quickly.

-[ Attitude ]-
Val in general tends to keep to himself, curling up in a chair, watching people interact, or watching the water over the Mer tank. Usually he is quite introverted to the point of seeming extremely shy. Few people have gotten close enough to understand why he is so unwilling to interact with others in a normal manner. When he sees a friend or any underdog in trouble, he jumps in without further thought to his own safety. He generally dislikes using his gun and often leaves it at home. Guns are for killing, after all, which he has an aversion to.

-[ Likes ]-
He likes people in general, which is why he watches them so much when he appears. In the shop setting he prefers the water also, the calming sound and fluidity putting him at ease no matter his mood. Darkness, small places, and the wilderness make him feel safe. When away from the shop he rarely can be found indoors.

-[ Dislikes ]-
Being so introverted and morbid, but that's life. Injustice, sadists, and bullies. Farfarello. Sian. Amrit. Rufus.

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Val tries to hide everything. One thing that has come about is his development of a more versatile mechanical arm. He crafted this arm himself (the latest in a series) and has developed a knack (and liking) for such things. If you want to know more, you'll have to ask Reno.

-[ History ]-
Anyone who knows the story of Vincent Valentine knows his story, so we'll go ahead and skip all that. Two things should be noted. First, his metal arm is an amputation (honestly I don't know if this is canon or not but it's true in my continuity). Second is his change of name to Valentino - shorter, not quite the same, harder to trace... though he has run into almost everyone from Seven fame. So much for that idea. Maybe he should have changed his name to George...

In his years since coming to reside at the Nullspace, Val has sought a place of his own in the world. On one hand, people look at him and see a beautiful if quiet individual. Underneath he knows the truth, that his anger can lead to bloodshed on a vast scale. Luckily he lives with those who know what it's like... On the other hand, through years of enforced solitude he has fallen into the habit of shrinking away from others and dwelling on the past. No matter how he tries to shake his past, its imagery floats before his eyes. He does not want anyone to see this side of himself, and yet because he does not show it they are left with a facade of sorts.

And of course, whenever he finally does come out of his shell, people like Reno find him and pounce...

Yes, Raven is based on Eric Draven from The Crow. Even though his story is so dark and murderous, I suppose my choice to make him a demon instead of an (avenging) angel is questionable. My take (and my anthro) is such that he never was able to attain his revenge, and therefore cannot die or go to heaven. He cannot forgive himself and has consigned himself to (eventual) hell. However, because of the nature of his Crow escort (in this case, himself), he has the feathered crow wings.

-[ Abilities ]-
Flight, bulletproof..?, longevity. Killer guitar skills (not literally).

-[ Attitude ]-
Open-minded and friendly unless given a reason not to be, Raven can find himself making friends with just about anybody. He finds social situations a way to release some pent-up energy and stress in a friendly atmosphere instead of shouldering it like so many of his brothers. By comparison, it keeps his emotional burden light, making his gothic appearance and upbeat attitude towards life seemingly in conflict with one another.

Parties, dancing, theatre, rock music

-[ Dislikes ]-
Aggression, needless fighting, those who take advantage of others

-[ Hidden Self ]-
Raven has never been the type to knowingly conceal things about himself from his friends. The only exception might be his past, wherein lie several painful memories he simply would rather not think about. More recently, the loss of mate and sons has taken a heavier toll, but again he does not hide himself from others, and that is pretty apparent in the way he hides himself in his room...

-[ History ]-
In a previous life, Raven was engaged to be married. His wife was raped and murdered... and he survived. After a fashion. Long story short, he failed to complete his mission and failed to die like he was supposed to do.

Years later and attempting to put together a new life, he found a new mate for himself (they were adorable together, ask anyone) and had a few kids. But time has a way of pulling people apart and once again he found himself alone, with one son whom no one could ever relate to. A creepy son at best who could see ghosts and grew up staring into space half the time.

Raven tries not to blame himself, but it tells in his music and the fact that even though he is able, he rarely goes out anymore.
