[ ]I'm not looking forward to my first actual pelvic exam, since I'm very self-conscious about my body. I've been going to the gyneocologist for about two years now for my birth control to help with acne and periods, but since I'm not sexually active, there hasn't been a need to do anything more than the basic check-up/ask questions stuff yet.

Well sexually active or not, once you're 18 you need to get a pap.

[ ]@TacoGod5: Well, that's good to hear. I know it only takes about 5 minutes, but still...
@PFF: I went there earlier this year (Turning 19 next month) and they didn't make me do that. They said that I wouldn't need anything before I turn 21 unless there seems to be a problem or if I do become sexually active before then.

well they/he/she are only gonna see a certain part of your body..the rest is covered by clothes and a paper blanket thingie.
its uncomfortable, but you get used to it, cause its really for your benefit.

Well that's just... off. I've always been told once a girl turns 18, they need to have a pap. Just like men over 40 need a prostate check. It's just to make sure everything is okay, sex or not. That's just weird to me that the doctor would tell you that you don't need one. Maybe I'm just... not up to date. *shrugs*

[ ]@Pretty When I Cry: I know, I've always been required to wear that sheet thing that opens in the front everytime I go (Only clothes I've been able to wear are socks). It's just seems like a very uncomfortable place to be examined by someone else, especially when you're a virgin and you've been the only one dealing with it for so long. I think it's also the fear that they're going to find something wrong, you know? Cysts aren't uncommon for women in my family...
@PFF: Yeah, I don't know...

Speaking of shots, I got the one that's recommended for college students (It prevents meningitis) last week.

I never get shots, even in like grade 6 and 9. My parents read books that say that shot lead to allergies and autism and such. My immune system is better for it. And the only reason I know about Gardasil is the side effects.

I'm guessing the area where you live doesn't require them? Everywhere I've lived required certain shots to be able to attend school.
