"Oh...okay..." She felt a bit awkward, but she smiled at him anyway.
"Well then...I'm Julia." She furrowed her brow a little bit. She knew she had met him once before, not in the forest, but she guessed they hadn't ever introduced themselves. She found this to be a bit odd, although it didn't really surprise her.

"Nice to meet you Julia," Tabor said, bowing his head slightly. He knew he'd seen her somewhere before, but he'd always been poor with names, so if he did ever learn her name it was just his luck to forget it. Though he had to remind himself that forgetting names was common when you've only met in a short amount of time, so he'd no need to blame his luck on that.

Julia tried to relax, and smiled at him again. This was not something she was used to.
"Well...nice to meet you too...Tabor." As strange as it seemed, making a friend, she guessed that's what this was anyway, wasn't so bad. Or maybe putting it that way was getting her hopes up too much. She shook her head a little and tried to put things into perspective. She'd probably never see him again anyway.
"So...were you wandering to any place in particular?"

Tabor shook his head, "Just away. I wander away every day just to get away from everyone for a bit..." he looked to his right and sighed almost sadly, mumbling to himself, "Just so I don't hurt anyone..." He was kind of worried he'd hurt Julia while they sat and talked like this, his luck almost always did it seemed. She was nice though, different from the others. She seemed to have her own personal demons, inner voices and problems like he did.

How familiar, again, his words sounded.
"You don't...like being around others?" she questioned. It wasn't that Julia didn't like being around others. She was afraid, but she would never admit that. Not to someone she just met anyway. She sighed and thought about the last part of his answer. What did he mean by hurting someone, she wondered. Was he dangerous? Would he...hurt her? He didn't seem like a bad guy, and she decided it wasn't right to jump to conclusions. Beside that, something insider her gave her a feeling that he wasn't bad at all. He was someone nice.

Tabor shook his head, "It's not that I don't like others. I enjoy the company of other Namir, my room mates included. I just....I'm just afraid that if they hang around me that something bad will happen. That's what always happened as a kid. So I try to stay away from others to prevent that...." he looked sad to remember that, to tell why he kept away from everyone like he did. "I suppose that doesn't really answer your question though. Well as far as liking being around others...Yes and No. No because of what I just said, and yes because being alone is kind of...Lonely." By now Tabor thought that Julia must think he was a freak. That he was completely insane and socially inept. Though that was never really the case, he couldn't help but feel odd, talking this much to someone.

Julia only stared at him for a moment, trying to understand what he was saying. This must be what he meant, when he said he didn't want to hurt anyone. Some sympathy washed over her as she realized how lonely he was. Lonely and afraid of company, just like she was, even if it was for different reasons. She still didn't understand why he would hurt anyone though. But she knew for sure that he wasn't the type of guy to hurt them on purpose, so their had to be another explanation.
"How would you hurt someone? Physically? Emotionally? You're not making any sense." She raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you afraid of attachment or something?" She wrinkled her nose at the idea. That was silly she thought. She almost wished she hadn't even asked that question.

Tabor frowned, he'd always had trouble answering questions like that. He'd always been afraid of letting anyone know what happened.
"Can you keep a secret Julia?" he asked, feeling he could trust her with his story. He'd never told anyone, he'd never even considered until now.

Julia raised an eyebrow at him again. A secret? He was going to trust her with a secret? This was something new to her. Actually, a lot of things about him were new to her. She figured someone who was willing to trust her must be worth trusting in return. It only seemed fair.
"Yeah, I guess..." she shrugged, trying to keep her tone cool, although she was utterly curious to what he was about to tell her.
"It's not like I have anyone to tell."

Tabor took a deep breath and nodded. This was going to be a bit difficult, but he felt like he could finally tell someone.
"When I was a kit I got lost in some bad places. I was raised by con artists who taught me how to do what they'd been doing for years. I was a lucky kid, easily tricking Namir out of things in bets, cards, dice...When I was a teen I ran into a female Namir. I made a wager against her and she accepted. We played until she....she caught me cheating..." he paused for a moment, trying not to make a huge deal out of it all, "But I didn't know she was special...She decided to play a game of her own. For each Namir I'd ever conned, I got thirteen points. Those points influenced how bad my luck was. To get rid of them, I had to go out and help those I'd hurt. But I wasn't the only one to get bad luck. I caused it to others...I hurt them with it. I never meant to, but it just kind of happened...." He was holding back tears now. He'd hated causing harm. He'd always thought with his cons he'd been doing good, teaching them all a lesson of greed and such. But the two to have raised him weren't telling the truth. And now, the misguided Tabor had had to suffer for it.

Julia listened intently until he had finished his story. She didn't know what she had been expecting, but what he told her was nothing close. She could tell that he was fighting back his emotions, but despite the fact, Julia almost wanted to laugh. She couldn't help it, and a small chuckle escaped her lips.
"So...you...got bad luck, for...cheating? And now you're scared of hurting other namrah with your bad luck?" Julia couldn't help but think he was a bit superstitious. She then noticed the big white thirteen he wore on his hind leg. She recalled the bit of his story he had told her about getting thirteen points for every namir he had cheated. Her eyes showed the seriousness that she now felt.
"You must have worked very hard to get rid of all those points," she whispered, not being able to resist the urge to touch the white numbers. When she realized her actions she quickly withdrew her paw. She then gave him a somewhat nervous smile.
"Well...you don't have to worry. I'm not scared of you. I make my own luck," she added with a smirk.

Tabor frowned almost darkly, "Yes. But when I was young I was taught that I was doing something good...And I never wanted to hurt anyone...." When her expression changed his did too, it went from dark to the same sad look he got telling the story, "Those last thirteen are from cheating the female who cursed me. I've yet to find her...." He watched her touch the number, giving a distant, solomn smile. The smile turned warmer as she spoke her last sentence, he was glad to have someone understand, "Just be careful. I don't know if I want to risk hurting a kind Namir such as yourself..."

Julia watched the expression in his eyes change as he talked. He seemed like he was really sorry for what he did. She could understand that. Hurting innocent namrah wasn't something most namrah would be proud of. But what about this last female he talked about? He couldn't possibly want to help her could he? She put a curse on him! Julia frowned. She wouldn't want to help someone that had cursed her. She sighed and turned away.
"I'm not kind...I'm..." she paused, staring at the ground, keeping her eyes hidden from Tabor. "I'm selfish, and...I avoid others. I hold grudges. I'm not nice like you seem to think...no one likes me, that's why I should just...stay away from everyone. I'm better off by myself..." Suddenly she felt like crying. Her eyes burned as she fought her tears. She turned and started to walk away from Tabor. He didn't need to see her cry. He'd probably just leave her if he knew how she really was.

Tabor frowned. He was a gentleman, and if there was one thing gentlemen didn't like, it was to see a lady cry. He could hear it in her voice, he didn't even need to see to know the tears were coming. As she walked away he got up, twinging at the pain in his paw, and limped towards her.
"Julia. You're a very kind Namir. You stopped when I tripped and tried to help. You helped me talk about my problems..." he shook his head, "No one is perfect. I know that..." She reminded him a lot of himself when he was younger. After he'd realized what he'd been doing all those years. He felt so terrible he just wanted to get as far away from everyone as he possibly could...But then he realized he had to go back and fix what he'd started. "I know that...I like you Julia. You're...you're a good friend....."

His words took her by surprise. No one had told her they liked her before. She didn't think anyone would ever say that to her. An emotion bubbled up inside her that she wasn't used to feeling. It felt...good, but it only made the tears come on stronger. She didn't know how to handle it, and it made her angry. She buried her face in her paws, trying to shield herself from his attention, his pity. She didn't know if she could handle that.
"You can't...really...meant that, can you?"
