The compliments on her hunting weren't lost on the lioness and it seemed to soothe her, since she stopped her thrashing and lay still, save for a little twitching here and there.
With a mind that was often so like a child's, it was no wonder that such a strange beast would scare her. Warthogs weren't unusual in the jungle, as they seemed to like all the soft ground to root in. It was part of why Shai stayed off the ground when she could, traveling by fallen trees or low limbs that were thick enough to support her. She wasn't a leopard, but somewhere the lioness had learned the virtue of moving like one.
With really nothing more to say, the silence stretched as Shaitani lay quietly, her eyes drifting to glittering red slits. One might think her sleeping, if not for that tell-tale glint of red. How long as she lived as one of the Coven, a leech on the lives of those unfortunate enough to come into her claws? It seemed beyond remembrance, truly. Drakul was the beginning of her life as she was now, the end of everything before, if truly there had even been a 'before'. Had she once had parents of her own, like little Ukoo? Like the adolescent beside her, had she been stolen to sate the blood-lust of a vampire? Perhaps. Had she been one of the pride that had spawned the old king, or just some outsider he'd found? Again, the answer lay somewhere in the jumbled mind and bits-and-pieces of memory there.
A soft sigh escaped from the bloodied lioness as she thought on her own insanity, softly wondering at it.

Ukoo watched as Shai slowly began to see to fall asleep, though the same red of her eyes was visible. She decided, that now as a good time for her to shut up and go to sleep-if anything... to let Shai wander away. She nestled down against her paws, making it a point to yawn wide-before nuzzling her nose under her paws.
It was odd... the quiet of the night was soothing... though as a child she was afraid.. now... she was becoming accustomed to it. She almost, liked it. Which was sad and frightening for her... because she was changing now. She'd be a mother soon.
She sighed, feeling sleep starting to steal her concerns away...

It was hard to say what finally woke Shaitani, the raggedly kept body rising from the dirt to look around curiously. Blinking a few times, she finally turned her head to see Ukoo curled nearby, asleep or near to it. Well, wasn't that just adorable? Something to warm the heart indeed, to see someone trusting enough to sleep around the demented lioness. Even when she was pregnant and in Afritti's care, the queen had made sure Moses was there to protect her when she slept and was rarely alone with Shaitani.
Some memory might have triggered then, or some motherly instinct that had been roused with the birth of the cubs she'd had taken from her. Eyes intent, but soft, Shai walked on soft paws to stand over Ukoo, gently lowering her head. With a mother's kindly touch, she smoothed the fur over her forehead with gentle strokes of her tongue, grooming the sleeping face clean and composed. It was a tender touch and a tender moment, though there was no one around to truly appreciate it.
As soon as she finished, Shai lifted her head and looked over the young mother for a moment before she turned and padded into the darkness of the jungle, disappearing into the shadows as though one of them, for all her bright pelt.
The incident was promptly forgotten, that or stored in some part of her jumbled mind that recorded such things, a part she couldn't touch.
