She drifted her way to the water and looked down at her reflection before taking a long drink. There was no way of knowing when her next water source would be found, if there even was one to be found after this seeing as her luck wasn't always the best. Her pink nose hovered over the surface for a moment before the raised and continued to gaze into the waters' mirror.
Her eyes rested of the counter part of Kiuma. Light eyes tracing over her face and studying it, only noticing the strange scars the traced from eye to jaw. How strange. They were symmetrical, like they couldn't be from a fight but purposely done. Lamigisa was listening to Kiuma's story of how she found the place, mildly distracting her from the scars on her face.
"You have cubs?" She asked, genuinely interested. Lamigisa had never had cubs, herself, and hadn't made plans on having them with a mysterious stranger. Things just didn't seem to work for her that way. She would just be left to fend for herself with a belly fully of babies. "Waterfalls sound lovely,but..." she smiled, but her mind was still on something else, "How did you get those scars on your face?" She hoped to the gods she wasn't crossing any lines.

The red lioness nodded as she glanced at her companion before looking back over her lands.
"Yes. I've borne two litters. My first litter was five, four males and one female. My second litter was six, four females and two males. The first litter... well, they're long grown by now, living their own lives. My second litter is back at the dens, cared for by one of the other lionesses." She seemed lost in thought for a moment, remembering little bodies. They were so soft and round, tumbling over each other in play. It had been like a vision of Paradise, safe in the den with the little lives she'd brought to the world.
The question about her scars made her head tilt as she thought about her answer. "That is rather a long story there... A little while ago, I had a companion and she was hurt by a male. To comfort her, we exchanged scars on our face. They are... symbols." That seemed to work as a short answer, giving what was important without going into the sort of detail that would be painful. The short love she'd found with Baala had ended so ubruptly... even if it hadn't been the same as when she lost Tanaka, it had been painful and still was.

Two? Five? Six? Eleven? Two litters with eleven cubs. Such a large number. So many little paws and so many magical moments. It sparked a bit of jealousy that was soon drowned out by just thinking about it. If she couldn't care for herself, what would she do with cubs? They would probably die within days due to her lack of direction and forgetful mind. What kind of life would that be for cubs? For herself? A miserable one, thats what.
A Symbol? A painful symbol for everyone to see? Lamigisa flinched lightly and averted her gaze. It didn't seem right to stare at something that had a story behind it. A story that felt so private, yet so hard not to look at. It made her stomach twist into knots that would take a while to relax into a normal shape. her heart beat fluttered a beat, and her paws shifted awkwardly. "It sounds... so..." She couldn't think of a word. Not one that could describe how she was feeling at the current moment in time. Not a word, not an emotion. There was nothing.

Kiuma stiffened at Lamigisa's words, taking them a different way than they were ment.
"I'm proud of the scars on my face. They are a visible symbol of my life and my commitment." Turning ubruptly, she paced back to the pale lioness with red eyes bright in earnestness. She traced a claw down her cheek as she spoke, her tail lashing in a need to make her understand. "The scars look like the track of tears and when my cheeks were cut, I bleed tears of blood. Like all the pain in my past, the blood and tears I've shed for the people I loved. I was cut by one I considered a sister of the heart even as I cut her scars the same way. Even as she hurt me, I hurt her, and both of us were able to forgive the other and still love each other."
The red lioness shook her head as she dropped her paw, a low sigh slipping from her. "Like I said... they are symbols of my life and this pride I'm trying to build. I'm not ashamed to wear them, I'm proud of them." Kiuma turned away then and went to the water for a drink to soothe herself. "She's gone now. Until my daughters are old enough, I'm the only one to wear them."

Lamigisa shrunk back, obviously she had offended the female. Something she was trying her damnedest not to do. Her outlook on the scars was more sympathetic than anything. They had a story behind them. They were symbolic of every painful memory that had latched itself onto the brain and sucked at it, depriving it of a way out. A Parasitic memory that wouldn't leave you until you breathed your last breath.
A Shiver shot down her spine. Her heart went out to Kiuma, a sign that staying longer meant staying forever. Something that she couldn't let happen. No, Not yet. There was so much more needed to be done. Lamigisa's mind shot out an idea. Without so much as a breath the words floated into the tense air.
"Will you give me one? One to remember you? One to remember that I have a home if I need it? One so I have the choice to come back and become intertwined here?"

Kiuma's head jerked up as she turned to look at Lamigisa, surprised and wondering.
"Give you a scar?" She murmured, trying to process the request. No one had ever asked her for them, though she knew a few of her daughters were eager to get theirs. They were a source of pride to Kiuma, but they were also a binding symbol, something to tie her to the others that wore them. It made her wonder... Perhaps this female was destined to be one of them, or intended to be, but for reasons of her own, couldn't just yet. To bear the scars while away would be a visible mark that she was part of them... And even as she thought about it, she didn't feel repulsed by the idea. Rather, she felt accommodating, as though this were the right thing to do.
"Alright." She said as she decided, stepping closer and sinking back to sit. "But to give these scars to you, you'll have to reopen mine. The Tears of Blood aren't meant to be given alone, but shared... its part of what makes them what they are, you see?" Reaching up, she traced a claw down the pale female's cheek where the scar would go, a frown of thought on her face.
"Cut me where the old scars lay, then I will do the same for you." She said softly, watching the other with her red eyes as she waited.

Lamigisa's heart stopped. Though she had asked, she never thought that the idea would be accepted. Her stomach was twisted in knots at the thought of the pain and eased at the thought of having a home if she ever needed one and a sweet comforting thought that was.
A shiver went down her back as Kiuma traced down her face it wasn't because she was frightened, more eager and wanting to get it over with. This was such a nice place to be and one she never wanted to forget and a story she wanted to tell about the first place she felt like she had a home.
There were no words to describe how she felt, and if there where, they were hiding in her throat and wouldn't come out or make a sound. Lamigisa sat down and put her white paw up to her face tensing and tracing down one of the scars of Kiuma's face just hard enough so a tiny cut formed. Such a strange thing, purposely hurting someone she called friend.

The red female whinced as the claw cut into her flesh, parting it smoothly to offer up a welling of blood. It began to drip down her face like tears of red and she let out her breath slowly when both cheeks were burning with the cuts. It was a good pain, a bracing one, but the greater pain was emotional when she was reminded of the first time she'd gotten those scars, when she had opened the face of her dear Baala... but that was past now and something she'd rather forget.
Sitting back, she reached for Lamigisa and took her face between her paws, the inner claws along the side of her legs resting in the perfect position. Extending the jet black tips, she drug them down her face in a quick motion, cutting both at once to perhaps lessen the pain, or atleast quicken it. She sat back as she looked over the slashes with satisfaction, then leaned forward to press first one cheek then the other to the matching cuts.
"We've shared blood now, and you will always been like a sister to me." She said quietly, feeling a strange heaviness in the significance of the moment. "And you will always be welcome in my pride."
