Deep Despair getting the dvds is a numbah one priority on my list......... i hate watching dubs..... and i dislike funimation, tho it is better than most..... too bad i cant download them..... stare I know where their are still subs smile

you can also get DVD rip-quality subs at KAA up thru episode 38...and... oh, where did i find the rest...? Devil's nest, i think it was called. i don't know that they are still up tho...

i don't care for what FUNI did with hagaren at all... Ed's voice is passable (and i do have a lot of respect for Vic Mignogna that he actually took the initiateive to watch the subtitled version), but AL's voice is mumbly and has very little emotion to it, IMO, which was extremely disappointing, since that's the only way he CAN protray any emotion, being that he...can't make facial expressions...? i suppose that, like most dubs, as the characters develop further, the voices will meld more to them... maybe it's just me, i've always preferred listening to the japanese version... i will admit now that i have seen a few epsiodes in passing that it does seem like the hagaren dub has improved...but i will always swoon first for Ohkawa-sensei... heart
all in all, i don't watch many dubs, because i just don't like most of the actors they choose to voice them. if disney and don bluth can cast voices well for animation, why can't ADV, FUNI, and RighStuf? what's so hard about finding a decent VA to dub anime? so many of them are so bad, i just find it baffling. i will say that Cowboy Bebop was done well. So was RuroKen decent and Trigun not too shabby...but they are rarities in the field. hagaren is decent...but for such a fantastic anime, i had such higher expectations for how it would be dubber...
they should get the fans...like us! to dub stuff. you know, the ones who have seen the show the way it was originally done...the ones who know the characters inside-out... the ones who have such undying passion for the themes and stories presented in the plot... pff...i wish somoene would tell me where i sign up... man, they wouldn't have to pay me...just let me at that mic. i'd do anything to do what these actors do... crying

Yeah I've read up to chapter 40 (I think?) of the manga...but I've been forced to follow adult swim for the anime so far. I bought the first DVD....my boyfriend and I love it so much we are going to keep buying them as they come out smile
I was soooo mad though because I missed the first half of ep. 14 last week and that is where Envy is first introduced gonk gonk And he's my favorite! I was waiting to see him forever. And I missed it xp
