User ImageKuro quickly muttered the incantation to the kido and once again began focusing his reiatsu into his palm. A ball of blue reaitsu formed in his open palm once more, hovering for a brief moment then suddenly bursting forward creating a large blast of destructive power. The blast rushed toward the targets, this time taking out three targets at once. The explosion was larger than it had been during his first attempt, this time being powerful enough for Kuro to consider dangerous to an enemy. His vast amounts of reaitsu allowed him to release such powerful reaitsu based attacks, though if performed repetitively they could drain him quickly. He would have to be careful about how often he used the attacks.

He lowered his hand and turned to Nagi after listening to his answer. "Squad 2, huh? That would mean you were specialized in speed and stealth based attacks." He cracked his nuckles and slid his hands into the pockets of his robes as he thought about his own past. He then noticed that Nagi seemed distracted by something.

"I originally joined squad seven right after Daven was made captain of the squad. I was in the same squad as your old captian, Buru. He was a rather stranger character. I found him rather annoying to say the least. Before I was able to gain a seat I was promoted to captain of squad eleven because of my love of battle and incredible strength." He stared into the distance for a moment and then turned back to Nagi.

Nagi let out a small laugh to see three of his targets taken out at one time. He figured that there must have been a good reason why Kuro stopped using kido for the man would most likely take out an entire division if he didn't hold back. His accuracy wasn't questioned either.

As he watched, Nagi listened to what Kuro had to say. He merely nodded in response to Kuro's statement about what Nagi used to specialize in. Though Nagi's nimble speed was what helped him along there, he could never get over the fact that he was a klutz and that he spent a lot of his time reading and studying the demon arts in secret.

At the mention of Buru's name, Nagi felt a wave of chills go up his spine. Though his memory was terrible, he could never forget what happened that day when Buru finally revealed his true colors. The man had once been his friend until he had been promoted to captain by unknown means. The day when Buru strode up to him and tossed a badge in his direction, Nagi knew that things would never be the same again. The circumstance in which Nagi became captain himself was unfortunate. At times it made him feel a bit shameful of his position. He had gotten it too early in his own opinion. Nagi had always seen himself as the low profile type and not the kind to lead. However, now that he'd been in this position for a while, he was finally starting to get the feel of what to do.

Deciding not to let all that get to him right now, Nagi focused more on the last little bit that Kuro had said.

"Battle eh?" he asked curiously. Deciding to join in on the target practice, Nagi's right eye began to dilate as his spirit energy began to drain into his right arm- preparing to fire off a kido. "I'm surprised that you still aren't captain of 11th division. What made you change your mind?"

"You shouldn't talk to yourself, people will think you're crazy..." Nagi grinned while walking through the range gate. It was a good day with a nice cool breeze and some cloud cover so he didn't bother wearing his tinted glasses today. As always, the bag of water was lugged over his shoulder next to his bamboo shinai.

He had been anticipating this training all afternoon. It had been a while since he got to train someone from another division and was actually looking forward to meeting this new student.

"Hey, I'm Nagi and I'll be your instructor." he greeted as he approached the boy. He left out the title "captain" since he really hated formality.

((The crest there confused me for a moment. You aren't a captain are you?))

"Nice to meet you, I'm Yoh Zala of the 9th squad. My ranking is 5th seat and I'm ready to work hard sir." Yoh said, as he introduce himself. Being sure to not talk to himself out loud, Yoh did not want to be consider crazy. With respect he bow to his new teacher, just glad to be learning the art of kido.

((Usually, yeah, the captains use those so dummies like me don't see it and get confused.))

Nagi shrugged as the boy bowed. He supposed the simple title of "sir" worked for him. At least it wasn't "Nagi-samma." He never really understood what that suffix meant. For all he knew, it could have been an insult. In that case, it would have been funny since a lot of people would have been blindly offended.

"Well, first thing's first." he proposed as he sat the water bag down and lightly rubbed his tingling shoulder. The bag wasn't heavy but it always managed to make his arm fall asleep. "What kidos do you already know?"

((Haha... did you say you were in fifth squad by the way?))

(Opps that was a typo, EDIT)

"No sir, I currently do not know any of the kido destruction or binding spells. However I would like to learn of the spells up to number 80. I think that would be all of the spell I could be able to handle at my rank." Yoh spoke, as he was ready to learn some kido and work.

((Basically, everyone knows kidos up to ten automatically. It is stated in the guild rules.))

When Yoh explained to him that he didn't know any kido and that he wanted to go as high as eighty, Nagi couldn't help but chuckle a little. As much as he admired his student's ambition to learn, rules were rules...

"I'm afraid I cannot go that high with you." he explained while shaking his head with a smile. "Seated shinigami are restricted only to number forty and below. Anyway, I have a good one in mind for you so let's get this thing started. First you have to pass a small yet very simple test before we can begin."

With that, Nagi rose his right hand as his right eye was already dilated. Resting on his palm was a glowing white, volleyball sized spirit orb. He had summoned it so quickly that it looked as though he pulled it out of his haori or something.

"Obviously, this is a spirit orb." Nagi explained. "All you have to do is make one of these and you pass. This proves to me that you are capable of focusing and controlling your spirit energy. If you weren't any good at learning kidos back at the academy, I understand. If you can't do this, we can start from the very beginning."

The orb vanished as he lowered his hand.
"So, let's see it then." he grinned as the pupil in his right eye shrank back to normal.

Yoh listen closely as it would seem he misunderstood a few things. He would not let this stop him and his drive to learn. Yoh then copy what Nagi did with his hand and begun to focus his spirit energy. He slowly release energy bit by bit as the center of his palm begin to glow, and spirit energy form the size of a tennis ball. Yoh made sure his energy was under control because one wring move could kill him surely. Focus.....focus were his thoughts as he channel more energy to the size he need to pass his test.

Finally his palm trying reach the correct size and his task was complete. The orb was the right size, he slightly smile as Nagi hoping he would approve and allow Yoh to move on. Yoh waited to hear the next step of his training as he was all ears.

((Better.))

Leaning in to examine the orb closer, Nagi could feel the energy radiating from the ball of energy on his face. It looked and felt as though it were well balanced. This was good enough for him.

"Awesome." Nagi smiled as he backed away, looking pleased. "All right, now down to business. I think a good kido for you to start out with is Hado 31, shakkaho. It's a basic sort of kido though it requires an incantation. I think it'll be great to practice your aim with since it doesn't require that much spirit energy to use. The trick to this kido is to turn that little spirit orb into fire and release it as a projectile. Remember to always keep a clear mind and focus on your target. As an instructor, I am required to show a demonstration of what the kido should look like."

With that, he took a few steps forward, facing the target lane. His eyes were focused on a white human shaped dummy about seventy meters away.

"Ye Lord! Mask of blood and flesh," he began to chant as he focused a small portion of energy into his right arm. "All creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, The sea barrier surges..." Once again, as it always did, his right eye dilated as he rose his right hand, facing his palm at the target and his fingers together yet curled slightly. In the center was a red ball of light that seemed to grow larger and larger as he continued the incantation. "March on to the south!"

At this point, the ball of energy was about the size of his whole entire hand and was so bright that his fingers were no longer visible from the red glow. The whole time Nagi recited the incantation, he did not take his eyes off the target for an instant. "Hado number 31, Shakkaho!"

With that last word, the ball of energy suddenly burst forward in an eruption of red fire and hurled its way over to the target. The kido hit the wooden dummy with such force that it was knocked from its post with large hole burned through the center.

Lowering his tingling arm, Nagi ignored the wisp of black smoke emitting from his palm. Smiling, he glanced back at his student.
"And that is how it's done." he said. "It is your turn now. You may take a moment to remember the incantation if you must."

Yoh step to the line as he was now focus on a few things. His spirit energy, the target, and spell were all on his mind. He begins to chant the words just as Nagi did word from word, but his tone was very low.

Yoh raise his right hand as his palm was aim for the target, he also place his left hand on his right arm. This would enable him to become more stable aiming for the target. Yoh was very careful of his spirit energy control, release not too much but bit by bit.

"Hado number 31, Shakkaho" Yoh spoke, he was not ready for what was to come next. With the sudden burst of red his right arm raised some when firing the spell. The blast hurled into the air as it was off course "I didn't know it would be like that" he added on. What goes up must come down, and just like that the red shot came upon the target taking out the right side out. The other half remain on the board as Yoh stood there shocked of the outcome.

((Sorry if I'm a bit slow this week. Work has been wearing me out so I've been napping a lot. Haha))

Nagi chuckled a bit as the kido went well off its path. He didn't expect Yoh to get it the first time considering nobody got it the first time. Though this kido wasn't that difficult, that first burst of energy was starting to anyone. It had a good kick to it, that was for sure.

"Good, good." Nagi nodded. "If the force is too much for you to keep your arm steady, there's nothing wrong with using both. Though using one arm to keep the other steady was not a bad idea, you're still shooting that kido from only one hand. If you use both to fire, it will cut down the recoil by one-half. I admit that I only use my right because my left is lousy for channeling spirit energy but its taken me years of practice to get it right. Anyway, try it again using both arms and lets see how your aim improves."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 21, 2008 8:58 am

Yoh listen to what Nagi said as he begin to chant once more the words needed. This time he would let the spirit energy flow through both arms. The time he needs to perform this kido would be shortening. Yoh was ready as the last time he was not sure of the out come, he simply focuses. Both his arms rose as the palms were c**k at the target and center just right.

"Hado number 31, Shakkaho" Yoh spoke, he was ready for what was to come next. With the sudden burst of red light his palms fire the spell. The blast dash through the air right on course "Gotcha" he whispers. Just like that the red shot took out the target with great aim.

Nagi smiled as he was glad to see that his advice was taken and successfully used. However, he was just a bit concerned how much spirit energy this boy took up while doing it. The kido in use wasn't the most powerful, but for someone as inexperienced as Yoh, it would drain him in another shot. Surely this would hinder him from moving on to the next lesson. Especially since Nagi was about to bring out his partner in the next exercise.

"That's good." Nagi said after reaching inside his bag to retrieve one of his bottles of water. He tossed one to Yoh. "You're going to take a rest now. Even though you mastered your aim, you have yet to master your spirit control. Surely you must be exhausted."

((I am stating this because it is a true fact. Those who learn a kido at your current level in just a few posts gives me the right to assume they're rushing too much.))
