What if all these thoughts of being animals and dreams are just and emptiness we are trying to fill as human beings. What if we aren't satisfied as humans that we resort to acting like animals and dreaming of being free in the wilderness. But what if we are just imprisoning ourselves in our own prisons. Maybe if we just stopped and marvel the gift of human life, we can finally appreciate it. That's probably why we are all so screwed up in the first place. Maybe we are simply just a result of hating who we are inside. Don't hate what you are! If you love yourself......you can finally be yourself. I'm not disrespecting your belief of being a therian. I am the vice captain of this guild and the last thing I want to do is break this guild apart. However, I feel some would use this guild as a simple shield to disguise problems in their life. As I said before, a dissatisfaction in life, so you put on an emotional mask. Well I too have joined this society because I believe in my animal connection. I love animals. But what I have come cherish has driven me away. I read on about how you have dreams of being animals and attacking others. As it ever occurred to you that most of the dreams spoke of have been of violence or related to violence. When I think of this guild, I believe in it's connection to animals. Not the desire to become one! What I believe is found in here is an obsession rather than a love! All I ask is that you turn an eye to how beautiful man and animal can become one rather than one dominates the other! That is just a sign of human corruption and the animals you portray to have a connection with will suffer. But I am not the owner of this guild and I only wish to explain my concern to it's members. So thank you to all who have listened.

Yes perhaps some would use Therianthropy as an excuse for a violent imagination, but I don't think you quite understand the concept of shifting and sharing yourself with an animal. I cannot speak for all Therians, but my animal does not see things the way a human would. A natural reaction for an animal when faced with trouble is to fight. So shifting and attacking someone or something is a release. Animals fight their enemies. That's how it has always been and always will be. And, if you haven't noticed, humans do the same; they're just sneakier about it. And life itself is a long, drawn out dominance struggle where we beat each other down continually in the hopes of rising up, just like a wolf pack with too many alphas. You speak like one who has never experienced a shift of any type with your animal, if indeed you have one. So until you find that profound connection that all Therians share, I would ask, as founder and owner of this guild, that you keep your "constructive criticisms" to a minimum. This guild is not about criticizing each other anyway, it's about connecting with others of our kind because true Therians are few and far between. Sagehawk has every right to tell us about dream shifting and killing her quarry if that is what she experiences as her animal. I highly doubt this guild would collapse just because you stated your high-minded, patronizing opinions. If this guild were to disband, it would be because I disbanded it with the counsel of my other crew members. If you have problems with what goes on here, take it up with me privately as guildmaster or just leave the guild.

Hi! I'm new here. I joined Gaia a couple of days ago, because a friend wanted me to, and I'm really into software design, especially games, so I was interested in such a site. I've been in the therian community for about 3 years now, and I'm the head admin of Therian.Wikia (you should edit there).

Why do I say Dragon Therian, yet Were Raccoon? I guess I feel that describes it better. The Dragon part of me is kind of a constant thing, but deep deep inside, at a very core level, while the Raccoon part of me is alot more towards the surface, and what you might describe as "shifty". It's kind of like being 2 different things at once... heh...
Anyway, nice to find this here, hope to get to know you all...

I should add that my name carries meaning. It means Thinker in French which is very appropriate although I did not choose the name for that reason. So I tend to speak very little but instead absorb all that the discussion is about and process it.

Joined just today. =3 I've been a Wolf theriotype since I was a small child. 'Bout 10 years old when I found out about therians. That's what I get for growing up in the sticks in the middle of nowhere. It's not a bad thing though. Not in the least bit. *grins* Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Oh, and I know that my avatar is of the feline persuasion, I just like to switch it between wolf and cat, since being a cat is easier on gaia for some reason. *sweats and scratches back of head*

I dunno...I think they're totally missing the market. Every now and again I post in the Suggestions thread, and it's always the same..."MORE WOLF ITEMS!" Really though, they need more of every animal. As in a shop dedicated to nothing but fuzzifying your avatar. WOOT! :3
