She didn't stop as quickly as he did, but continued to take a few steps further then stopped. She turned back to him casting a quizzative look as he remarked on her question and comment. Her ears tilted in an odd manner for a moment as she didn't understand the problem. She said nothing about it though.

"I suppose there are," she bobbed her head for a moment, "But, there's differences in soquili from every region. It would be much too boring if we were all the same."

Misaki wasn't really a 'social butterfly' as she didn't go out with intentions of making new friends, it just always kind of happened. She always found first meetings odd, but normally warmed up once a topic of interest came up. She was a nurturing and kind older mare, the younger generations normally only spoke to her when they needed help. She didn't really know how to converse, just to converse.

She looked over to Ambroise as he made his statement talking more than needed. She just nodded in agreement, noting that this stallion apparently wasn't one for conversations either.

Ambroise was an observer, he spoke little but tended to see everything and acted upon it accordingly. Falling from the sky had not been part of his game plan, nor had he planned to lose a small part of his memory and thus he was a tiny bit out of sorts. Unfortunately the knock on the head had not been significant enough to make him talkative - although he would have to admit that if he did speak he would say nothing of interest.

All chatter was trivial.

He was boring.

Or at least that was the assumption he had made as a foal as he watched over the lands in the same fashion as his father. His siblings had chattered and played but he had never really been able to 'connect' or talk about the same strange topics. Berries - really he didn't understand what was so special about the sweetened food but his siblings spoke for hours on the subject.

"You state the obvious quite often, do you not?" One day he would become less abrasive, it wouldn't happen immediately but perhaps when he did he would be much more comfortable company.

Nevertheless, after this little 'observation' he continued to move through the undergrowth towards the borders of the forest. His reasonable size and wings were quite well equipped to cut a path through the branches surrounding him and what lay beneath his hooves.

She didn't really know how to answer the stallion, she nimply bobbed her had and stated, "I suppose you're right..."

She followed Ambroise towards the edge of the forest, it wouldn't be long and she would excuse herself to go on about her way leaving Ambroise to his thoughts and continued search for the results of his trial.

She'd never met a soquili that had been so difficult to connect with, well, other than the skinwalkers and kalona that would rather have her hide than hear anything she had to say. She cast a sideways glance over Ambroise. He seemed to be walking better, not favoring a leg or acting as though he might give out at a moment's notice. She concluded that he would be safe to leave alone.

Did it matter much what she thought though? He'd refused her help and it was clear that he wasn't much of one who wanted company. She turned her attention back to the path that he was cutting through the forest, walking along in silence behind him.

He was loathe to admit it on many occasions but he did appreciate the company of those he was accustomed to. Perhaps if he had been given the time to observe the mare before being in her company things may have been a little more comfortable. That was how it had been when he was a foal, the tiny filly he had bumped into had done nothing more than smile and follow his mother around - it had given him the opportunity to watch her and to learn about her mannerisms.

Farsiris was her name, she was perhaps the only mare who could endure his behaviour simply because she often left him be. He rather approved of daydreamers, their presence was there but more often than not they were lost in their own little worlds. While his mother loved her little charge dearly, found the daydreaming to be sweet...she also found it somewhat exasperating that he would hide behind another creature that didn't often speak (unless spoken to first). Really, Farsiris may have brought him company as a friend but the pair had done nothing for one another's social skills!

Just as well Farsiris had taken his mother's advice and had went to explore.

To be honest he was somewhat worried about his wayward friend that did nothing to settle his nerves either. Being grossly uncomfortable often made an individual miss the comforts they took for granted... He hadn't seen his peculiar friend in weeks! She had smiled in her normal manner and simply wandered off one morning to embark on her adventure. Then again Farsiris wasn't hard to spot...Not many have a big orange lily around their neck.

Maybe this mare had seen her in passing? A little familiarity or common ground was a good way to 'break the ice' or so he had heard...

"I do not suppose you have seen a striped unicorn with a giant flower around her neck, have you?" He enquired at last. "About so high," he motioned with his head at this point and then cleared his throat.

She had been in her own thoughts that the sound of Ambroise's voice slightly startled Misaki. She shook her head slightly as though clearing her own thoughts from her head.

"Hmm?" she turned her head slightly, paying close attention to what the stallion was saying. Unfortuantely, she had not run into the mare that he spoke of. "I'm afraid I have not," she paused for a moment, "I actually haven't met many soquili at all from this area." She wouldn't be of much help unless he was looking for one of the handful of soquili she had met since returning 'home', none of which resembled the lady he spoke of.

"Have you lost her?" she asked curiously. She didn't mean to be so nosey, she just couldn't help but to inquire. He'd seemed so disinterested in every other topic so far.

Hm, maybe she suffered from the same problem as him then. He simply couldn't connect with people - he wasn't shy he just didn't like crowds. Whereas Farsiris was somewhat shy and seemed to 'fade' in the presence of a large group of soquili. They both had their problems and he was somewhat protective of the daydreamer given that they had known one another since foalhood. Best friends forever, or so he had heard his siblings claim once before. Really he found it a strange phrase but he was beginning to grasp its concept - slowly.

"No, I do not misplace things," he replied after a few moments. This statement would have been true if he hadn't 'misplaced' his memories. However he hadn't exactly caught on to this fact yet and as such, took her comment to relate to items or creatures. "She left home recently, my mother encouraged her to visit this place." He gave a small shrug of his shoulders and fell quiet once more.

"Our herd is small," this was not strictly true for the Islagiatt herd was huge; but, he was referring to the small number of soquili who lived high on the slopes such as himself. They were a tight knit band of the same herd while the others tended to dwell in the forests and lowlands below. "When one disappears for a time to explore we like to know if they are safe."

"That's quite understandable," she said bluntly. She knew that she would worry if one of her own had gone missing...Well, if she had any of her own. Her thoughts wandered for a moment, she wondered what her family had thought of her when she left. She had never planned on being gone for so long, she began to wonder if they even thought of her now.

"Hopefully she is well, and still just exploring..." her voice trailed off. She didn't give much of a second thought to his comment about not misplacing things. To be quite honest, she was more involved in her own thoughts for the moment. Would her sister even remember her? It had been years, after all...

He had clearly hit a nerve as the mare fell quiet, her tone had gone from being amicable to otherwise mimicking his own. Granted it lacked that 'abrasive' quality that he was so renowned for, but it was there and it was evident. For a number of minutes the stallion continued to walk in silence and permitted the mare the opportunity to mull over her own thoughts. He was a creature of solitude after all and as such he understood the importance of his privacy and the concept of 'me time'.

Nevertheless the silence did drag on and while the immediate quiet didn't irritate him he found that gnawing guilt to be terribly troublesome. He might have been abrasive and lacking in social skills but he had been blessed with a mother and father who were strict in their beliefs. They were firm believers in manners and as such, to insult a mare to the point of silence was unforgivable. It was one of those moments when Ambroise often wished he had been somewhat more rebellious as a child - perhaps then it wouldn't have matters quite so much.

Clearing his throat, the stallion lifted his head and flicked his gaze towards the mare. His neck remained stiff, decidedly uncomfortable but he had enough movement to turn his head just a little. It was only then that he noticed the distant expression and released a somewhat heavy sigh - not quite one of exasperation but it was damn near close!

"I apologise if what I said was troubling to you."

She blinked quickly, her ears flicking as his voice snapped her back into the moment as they continued to walk. She didn't mean for him to think it was his words that had caused her silence, they weren't..really.

"No, no," she paused momentarily, "It wasn't you." She snorted a bit, her gaze going past the stallion to the path ahead of them both. "I was just thinking of my own family. It has to be near a decade now..."

She didn't want to bore him with her history or the details of her journey. He seemed to have enough on his mind to worry with. She quickly looked over to the stallion and tried to offer her normal friendly smile, "This mare you seek, she must be special. It's not every day you have someone looking for you..." Her words, more meant for herself than him.

In a way it had been his fault then. Logically speaking it had been his words that had reminded her of her family. He wasn't sure of the immediate connection between the two, but perhaps she spoke of her own absence and whether or not they remembered her. Really he found the concept of a family forgetting one of their own to be completely mind boggling, but then again he had originated from one of the strongly bonded families he knew.

"They are your family," he pointed out softly. While his tone remained gruff there was a slightly gentler quality for it. It was almost as though speaking of 'family' was safe ground for the stallion. Loyal and family orientated to the core, he considered the protection of his family and his homeland to be his duty. He was honor bound to watch over them all...it was just who he was, much like his father and his mother.

"Regardless of how much time has passed, they will still recall who you are with fondness," he lifted his gaze to the canopy and furrowed his brow ever so slightly. He had fallen from the skies and while no one had come to check on him, he was certain they had their reasons. He had not been the only one in combat, his father had been too and his mother lacked wings...she couldn't simply appear at a moments notice. "Blood is thicker than water - you will never be forgotten due to that link."

"Nevertheless, the mare you speak of is the only friend I have," he pointed out simply and shook his head. "We grew up together, she was raised by my mother after her parents struggled to care for her." He explained softly, offering a loose shrug. "One could say she is like a sister to me."

Her ears flickered as he spoke. He seemed like a solemn soul, yet there was a gentlness when he tried. A small smile crossed her mouth as he spoke of family and bonds.

"As far as I know....my sister could be passed. She was all I had left." she looked over to Ambroise with a solemn but thoughtful look, "I can only hope for the best until I find her."

She turned away, her gaze once again returning to the path before them. Misaki's family had been a tight knit family as well. The sisters were raised with the importance of good intentions and virtues as major cornerstones of their learning. Misaki accepted the fact, that if fate had chosen to leave her here alone, that there was a reason. She would learn from the situation and move on.

Tuning back in as Ambroise spoke of the mare he searched for, her head tilted at 'only friend'.

"Hopefully you will find her well. It's hard to keep from worrying over family." She understood that the mare wasn't blood related, but still family non the less. "Perhaps you could find help in looking for her?"

"If anything foul had befallen her your instincts would have told you," he stated simply, choosing to avoid further discussion about his lost companion for a time. His family had always taught one another to listen to their instincts...if someone was hurt they would know, deep down that something wasn't right. It was these instincts that often led his family to arrive in the exact place they were needed, they were always on time but they came eventually. He could only assume that the same could be said for other soquili though they wouldn't always recognise the 'jolt' when it came.

Nevertheless as she brought up the issue of his friend again he could only release a small sigh. A slight shrug of his shoulders and he would have sooner dropped the topic. His mind was already a blur from his immediate encounter and while he still hada firm grasp on his past, the short term loss of his memory was plaguing him. To say he found it infuriating was an understatement...combine that with the issue of his missing friend and he would be set for a foul mood!

"I have no doubt that there will be others searching for her, if something had happened to her I would have known by now," he could only continue to refer to his instincts. He hadn't felt that call or that sense of dread so he could only assume she was safe and comfortable for the time being. Alas, he hoped it would continue to remain that way as he had little intention of returning home until he had fitted the pieces of the puzzle together and he could recall what had occured.

...Although a part of him wasn't sure he wanted to.

"I am sure she is safe."

The edge of the forest was quickly approaching, Misaki could see the clearing of the meadows through the trees that began to become more sprase. She had no clue as to which way she would go from there, but, her travels weren't up to her. Destiny guided her, she merely followed it's lead.

She turned her head to Ambroise as they approached and he finished his words. "Yes, I'm sure she'll be fine. There's no need in worry, at least not for now." She smiled and turned back to the upcoming meadows.

Once the pair reached close enough, Misaki stopped and snorted. "Ambroise, thank you." She said simply with a nodd of her head. Normally she would say more and make a bit of small talk before her parting, but this didn't seem like the type of soquili that would be interested in such things. Short, and to the point. Misaki would comply.

"Good luck on your own journey. I hope you find what it is you're searching for...." She smiled and nickered slightly, "Here I take my leave. Journey well."

One last time, she lowered her head for only a moment before lifting it. She didn't wait for a reply as she slowly turned her body to head for the meadows. She didn't know what that stallion searched for, but she hoped his own destiny would lead him in the direction he needed to go as well. She would send a thought to the skies for him, that was all she could do.
