Vampires are also held to the same laws as mortal humans. So blood sucking animals may lead to trouble by animal rights groups or be considered animal cruelty... and if the animals are privately owned by someone else or wildlife it can also lead to big problems with various groups.

Have there been people who drink blood? Yes, of course. Were they vampires (as in undead immortals). No. But they fancied themselves to be. They age and die along with the rest of us. That teenage blood drinker who killed his girlfriend's parents is aging despite his belief that he's a 500 year old vampire. What was his name? Rod Ferrell. He was 17 and he looks 28 now.

But it's doubtful that an animal as large and with complex nutritional needs could survive on a blood diet. We need protein, carbohydrates along with various other materials to keep us going. And the bugs I know that are actual vampires do it to feed their babies. Vampire bats... I'm not so sure about them. Chupacabras? I really know nothing about them.

The fact that they were "undead" comes from the fact that diagnosing death wasn't so reliable in the ancient days. People often went into deep comas and were pronounced "dead." But later they woke up from their coma and OMG, they are "undead!" Such is the case of zombies. It was found that the victim is made to ingest the toxin from such a creature as a puffer fish in a dose that isn't quite lethal. They victim "dies" and in reality goes into a coma. They are buried. Then they are dug up just in time for them to wake up from the coma. They are told they are now undead. Are they? Well... they never actually died.

Nowadays we drain the body fluids and replace them with poisons so the body really is dead when it's put into the ground.

Also the human body when it decays goes through a lot of bloating and other gross details. So if a body is dug up they can look freshly dead with a bit of blood escaping from their lips but it's really the fluids from the decaying body escaping and not a victim the "vampire" fed on.

People can die and come back... but it should be noted that when they do they are the same exact people as when they died with no appetite for blood or with mindless zombie drone feelings. Although they do have fantastic stories about seeing "the light" and feeling the presence of family and friends who have already passed through the great beyond. And usually they no longer fear death having experienced it once.

There are psychic vampires. My ex boyfriend was one without knowing it. He'd often work people into a frustrated frenzy as he got more and more excited and energetic. They'd leave the experience feeling drained and listless. He also had emotional problems which is why he's my ex.

People do often feel "immortal" but in reality they are just as prone as the rest of us to death. That sentiment is often found in teenagers and especially among males. I've been reading books about people who have died in the Grand Canyon and Yosemite National Parks. Often the victim is a teenage to early 20's male who's last words are, "Nothing will happen to me." It's sadly ironic just how many young men have said that before they fell 500-1000 feet into a mile deep canyon. Then the park service has to go fetch the body out of the canyon. As you get older you have to face your mortality. It's a sad day. I was young when it happened to me... 18, because my close friend (who was 17) committed suicide. So I had to come to terms with death and come face to face with the whole "we're all going to die... I'm going to die" realization. That and a couple of near death experiences and now as an adult I have a healthy fear of dying as a result of stupid mistakes or risks.

I think the human body is an amazing thing. But I don't think we are so amazing that we can eternally cheat death by deciding to drink blood one day. I don't believe it's the fabled "Fountain of Youth." Medical science is getting better at keeping us alive, but they aren't THAT advanced. And it should be noted that none of the truly vampire critters (leeches, mosquitoes, spiders (bug blood... mmm), ticks, fleas, etc) are immortal.

And it should be noted that the current popular romantic view of vampires didn't exist until Bram Stroker wrote Dracula... and indeed Dracula's charm comes from the era the book was written in late 1800's. That era is called "romantic" for a reason (characterized by raw, emotional human feelings). Before Dracula was written humans who became vampires were either psychopathic mortals with blood lust or mistakenly identified decaying corpses.

umm sereach the web for "otherkin" you will get a lot of information and help about what your going through. I'm not human myself *cough* polymorph *cough* but that dosent make me immortal. I'd love to hear your experiences.

only as hollywood understands them.... vampires come in all shapes and sizes and variations of education... vampires are human too.... ^^... and such a young one still has to be taught, if in fact she is a vampire....

well i have a story but its about me and the connection to a vampire... it seems as if all my paranormal abilities are going away except for the seeing and dreaming ones but this new "ablility" is starting to develope. a month ago i was cleaning my room and i found this key attacthed to a note. the not said:

now whenever i get around blood i feel dizzy but not the sleepy dizzy the dizzy as in temptation. its really hard to explain... and ever since i've had that keep my skin has been colder and my body tempature is 3 degrees lower than average. did i mention i have all the vampire teeth... all 4 of them. i've only told one person this and it was my BFF cassidy... and she seems to thinks its vampireish. this guild is the only other people i've told


So....can I ask a quick question....which story are you going with? I was looking through stuff in the guild and you've posted this before....you are a liar!

Leloi, great post. It' could be very true that the idea's for the ever living vamprie may have come from the fact that diagnosing death wasn't as reliable as it is now. I also like that you threw in the NDE partion, in many ways they are the same person, but may feel like they have been changed. smile Might I also add though that there were illness that might have lead to some of the idea's behind vampires. There are those who were and are sentive to sun and light, had low blood counts or iron and such. Now we know these things could be signs of other illnesses, but that wasn't always known.

Queen of demon, I think you could find more answers vie way of just asking the questions to the things you'd like answers too. You wouldn't to get to indept about hows and whys of your own background. Just simple things like What is it you really want answered?
