good white magick, bad white magick, good black magick, bad black magick
this is real, a truth about magick, this dose really exist.
most of this is true. the part about white and black being at diffrent times...but the good and bad part is wrong.
most of this is true. You just mixed up the names. Bad is black, and good is white.
You have the right idea, but the names are totally diffrent!
None of this makes sence and i think you are totally way off.
I really dont know. I was never told this before, or never thought about this. This is a new consept for me.

Agreed - when I refer to magic as being black or white, I'm simply referring to the connotative meaning of 'negative' or 'positive'. Admittedly, I think there's a huge 'grey area' (<---epic pun), but when trying to describe to someone who's trying to figure out the basics, I try and keep things as simple as possible and expand on them later.

I do not think that magic can be 'black or white' in a literal sense. It's like saying that any magic that invokes a spirit vaguely related to fire is 'red magic' or something. :XP: As I said above: I mean black and white in the connotative sense only. It's easier than saying "magic with good intentions" and "magic with bad intentions". Hence, you may call me lazy, but not a fluff, thank you. smile

since my last post, last night, i have been given some new information.

It has come to my atention that I must have not explained myself well when i said i do black magick, which i totally didn NOT mean to say. Most of my intentions i feel are that of black magick. Over all, i feel it breaks someones will. let me further this by explaining that i am mostly a selfless person. I have little desire for what i have myself, but greatly enjoy helping someone else with what i have. So my magick would be focused on helping someone else, and without permishion, which i could never get, i am hopeless to do black magick. So i often avoid from doing any magick with fear i will end up angering the gods and harming myself.

I to do not belive magick has an actual color. I only said color to possible not have to re-write black and white, that is all. I i do understand that the "color" refers to positive and negetive. The only question here was basicaly about if there was any other way of naming day or night rituals, spells, and what not. That was my main intention.

I mean, if the efects of my spell were to be directed more towards something under the gods rein, such as to strengthen my defences against illness, i think i would do it in the day. But if my spell were directed more towards something under the goddess's rein, such as a suscefful recovery from an ilness, i think i would do that at night. This is only to give it that extra element to get one in a good mindset, and focus on the reason for the spell. Dose that make sence???

I also heard the word fluffy bunny used...and m not sure how to respond, but to each his own...

and to reiterate...this was not my idea, just a friends, which i wanted a second oponion on...

i don't know if i can give a dignified response....... rolleyes

magick is not black and white.

life is not black and white.

example 1: a tornado hits cleveland, killing millions. evil?
example 2: a wolf kills a rabbit to feed it's cubs. evil?
example 3: a witch casts a spell of prosperity because her car is broken and she doesn't have the money to fix it. evil?

the heart of the user determines how the energy is sent out into the universe. none of these things are evil. they can be selfish, naturally occuring, and survival. but none are evil.

I find myself looking at magick like I do most tools.

I can be either used for good or bad, that isn't for the power to decide, it's how it's used that decides it.

I say that it really doesn't matter all that much. Magick is magick, and yes, I know that black can often be associated with dark magick, it doesn't mean that that's completely set in stone. Magick is whatever you want to make of it.

You mentioned knowingly doing magick that involves someone without their permission... I have done it before, but still don't believe it's a good thing to do. But, having done it before (and i don't regret it) I won't give you a slap on the wrist, either. I trust your judgement, but urge you in future to avoid it as much as you can in future. i wouldn't class it as black magick from what I've heard... your intentions seem well and that's what matters. I believe that (to an extent) if the major part of a spell is good intention, and it would directly cause something negative, it may not go through.

And just to clear up the colour thing - the discussion (from me at least) was mostly directed to other people's responses in this thread, rather than directly to you.

I think that doing a spell under the sun/moon will definately make something more effective in your examples - although not strictly necessary. It would be particularly effective, if it is a spell done in daytime that requires you to call power from the god. (my opinion anyways)

Sorry about some of the heated discussion - people have conflicting views on things that are discussed in the guild, some feeling very strongly...

"True magick is neither black or white. It is both because nature is both"-The Craft

Even though this quote is from a movie it makes A LOT os sense. As wicca is created from nature and a earth based religion it self , it makes sense that being from nature wicca carries the same property of nature. If its a windy storm or a peaceful sunset wicca is both. It can be giving like nature or it can be cruel like nature.

*groan*

Nature is not both. Nature is neither.

i frigging hate that movie...

*mutters to herself*

Good and Evil are human concepts and they are ideas of self-actualization. About the only thing animals can attribute to 'bad' is pain or something that's so unusual it frightens the animal (like ghosts).

Have you ever seen an evil dog? (omit hollywood Cujo.) what makes the dog evil? perhaps it is a part of it's nature. say the dog was abused, and it attacks any 'human' it sees on sight. somehow it correlates 'humans' with pain or fear.

but evil? hardly.

sometimes they seem evil, but kids, that's either watchdog training or rabies. twisted
