For someone who didn’t know Liana that well, Highfog had managed to push all the right buttons. Indifferent to her aberrant condition, curious about her task, sharing similar views on companions and even inquiring about her territory (showing interest in meeting her again) had made the keeper secretly blistering with joy.
“Again I apologize, I’m keeping you from your meal. “ she said with a laugh and pointed at her basket with a wing. “You can go ahead and have the last mus. And I’d advise you to go check what that tall wildtype has brought. I’m pretty sure that’s Roguefeather and he breeds some delicious skurri.” She paused for a brief moment, wondering how to best explain where she lived. “I live in the South, right at the edge of the Notcold forest. It’s west to a small stream that runs through a clearing. But if you ask around, most know my name in the area so it shouldn’t be too hard to find.”

Taking good notice of this information, the Teacher slowly turned back to where she came from. “Alright! Liana, is that it? I’m at the border of the Enclave; just ask a Minder if you get there. And if I'm not there, I'm busy teaching... stuff.” She raised a wing to wave goodbye. “Have a nice night!” she said as she was going farther to try and get some food. She had really needed social interactions recently, and moving on sounded less difficult with a new friend. However, all this talk about rodents really made her hungry. It would have been wrong to ask Liana about Keepers who bred fat companions as snacks. She absolutely needed to find fat and juicy mice. Delicious.

“You, too.” She replied as the teacher bid her goodbye. “Hope we see each other again.” Liana watched quietly as the teacher left, flickering eartufs betraying her silence. For a moment, her gaze drifted towards the deep woods she’d met previously and as their eyes met, the keeper couldn’t suppress a soft chuckle. “Dash, ride with me.” She commanded softly lowering a wing. As soon as the small companion had a tight grip on her feathers, she lifted herself up in the air, firmly holding the basket with her talons. She circled the platform once to drop the last remaining mus on a small pile and headed home, singing a very old song softly under her breath.
“Listen child, hear the songs Hear the stories of the world Bards know more than they tell Things of old, hear them well
Catch the news from their beaks Close your own as they speak You will learn of the Clan Hunters, Prey and Noctus’s plan”
"She was nice, wasn't she?" she asked loudly, beak agape.
"Fog nice. Make master sing." Dash replied softly next to her eartuft.
Liana laughed again and proceeded to hum the song, one of the first she had ever written, flying with graceful excitement.
