rabbit sushi ComluibanGirl rabbit sushi ComluibanGirl I love the books and films equally but separately. When I read the books, I don't think of the actors, and when I see the film I'm not constantly comparing it to the books. Normally if I love a book series I don't like the book as much, but the Narnia films appeal to me on so many levels. I'm also fascinated by the life of C.S.Lewis. If any of you get an opportunity (and haven't seen it already), you might want to watch the movie Shadowlands. It's about his life and it's a brilliant film whether or not you have any interest in the author himself. My mum gardens for the bloke that wrote Shadowlands. [/useless information] Cooool. I love William Nicholson, because not only did he write Shadowlands, he wrote the Wind on Fire trilogy. I am one of those rare plebs who prefers the Wind Singer to Northern Lights, so I have huge respect for Mr. Nicholson. I love my Wind of Fire books. I read them before she started gardening for him, and when I found out I was all "do you reckon he'd sign them?" I'm one of those people that seeks to have every book signed by the author. xD My goodness, me too- to the point where when my mum went on a course about sugar-paste modelling, I made her get one of our cake-decorating books signed by the author, who was teaching the course. It gets to the point where it's like an affliction.

Well guys I'm almost done with The Silver Chair now. Lol
I like LWW, MN, and HHB most. Nobody seems to like HHB that much, but I understand why lol. I didn't like it until I re-read it :-/

It gets to the point where it's like an affliction. I'm (hopefully still) in line to inherit signed Charles Dickens book and a personal letter from him to a great-great-uncle. The only thing that stands between me and beautiful, lovely books is posh cousins and my Atheism. D: Ah, I would so get my Delia Smith books signed, they've taught me everything! I still want my mum to get one of her gardening books signed - the uathor's called Gay Search.

I've read only 1-3. The style of writing just completly turned me off, it was too solomn. I just really hated reading it. Also they had completly different ideals when those were written. Like when Santa Clause was giving out the gifts in #2 Santa told Lucy that she didn't have to worry about using the knife he gave her, because - I'm not sure about the exact words but- "Battles are ugly when women fight," is basicly what he said.
So I just stopped reading.

I have to say that my favourite books are LWW and Dawn Treader. Prince Caspian wasnt as bad as some said it was. (Or maybe I was busy reading between the lines and picturing Caspeter?)
And Magician's Nephew and Horse and his Boy bored me. >[

I've read every single one of the books in the series, and I have to say that I love them all. Of course, there are some that I love more than others, such as the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe, the Horse and his Boy and the Dawn Treader which are my favourites in the series. There is just such simplicity in his writing that appeals to me, and it always reminds me that I do not actually have to complicate things in order to feel successful. This is why they are my favourite book series of all time, despite my age.

I've read them all three times. Ha ha. I love Narnia. <3 My dad bought the set for me when I was 9, and I read them then. My second time was when I was 12 or so, and then a little before I turned 16. It's good to have a few years between reads~. I haven't read anything else of C.S. Lewis's stuff, though.
I don't think it's all that good an idea to watch the movies and then read the books. My mom saw the two movies out and then read Prince Caspian. She thought it was really slow because the movie was sped up a little. (A movie can't be 4 hours long.) It took her forever to finish. And she only finished because I harassed her to. I'd recommend reading the books first, but for many, that's too late.
At least read The Last Battle before the movie! gonk

anna bandana And Magician's Nephew and Horse and his Boy bored me. >[ Yeah HHB was pretty boring. I didn't like it until I reread it. I liked it mainly cause it told about Calormen. I also liked Aravis (she's stuck-up but I like her) and that I could see Susan, Lucy and Edmund as adults. Other than that it was pretty slow I didn't really care for Shasta/Cor. I'm gonna reread VoDT I can't remember much about VoDT besides the ship, Eustace, Eustace as a dragon, and the ending. And what I do remember isn't at all detailed. It's probably because I finished it during a long car ride to Legoland. Lol I remember more about Legoland then the book, sadly. Horrible trip. Cold weather. Oh yeah and I finished The Silver Chair.

I was reading the book set all in a row and I suppose I was getting weary. I kept thinking Aravis was the horse instead of Hwin. -smacks head- I'm already envisioning the Dawn Treader movie and its bound to be action packed. The giants in the Silver Chair were entertaining.

Same here, and I am quite ashamed of that, because he's supposed to be my favourite writer. Unfortunately, I don't have much time on my hands, so I'm going to have to save that for the holidays. However, I am definitely planning to read more of his stuff. Quote: I also liked Aravis (she's stuck-up but I like her) and that I could see Susan, Lucy and Edmund as adults. My main interests in that book were the fighting scenes and the interactions between King Edmund and the Prince Corin. To be honest, I actually prefer Prince Corin to Cor for some reason. Same here, I'm really looking forward to the Dawn Treader movie. Darn... I can hardly wait for it after the successes of the previous movies. When is it coming out?

GDI, make it December or November so it wont underperform like with Caspian.

Yes, I love them. I have a lovely hardcover all-in-one edition and two companion special pop-up art books. I also have a paperback all-in-one edition in French, which I'm currently working through.
Everyone should read them!
