Tae often wore a cool calm demour, but she broke it slightly by allowing a small smile to ripple across her maw, trying to imbue the larger male with confidence. She let her gaze fall upon him and remained fixed there.
'So you say you spend most of your days alone? Is it just in the evenings you spend your time with your family?'
It had been so long since Tae had had any contact with another wolf. She generally wondered the higher lands alone, enjoying the solitude, however strange that seemed to other wolves who had to succumb to their natural pack instincts. But some deep set instinct in her was coming to surface and she couldn't deny it any longer. Perhaps it was company or perhaps it was something more, she had never had much of a desire to belong to a pack or have a litter of pups herself but lately she felt a desire to pass on her knowledge to someone else, perhaps a pup or perhaps just another wolf.
Tae shook her head and tried to return her thoughts to the present rather than mulling over things as she was so prone to do. At time she'd take one day at a time but at other times she had a deep set nature of breaking everything down and trying to make sense of it. The two different qualities often fell out with each other, but for now her flowing, day by day nature was taking over.

He grinned as she smiled and now it was clear to any who watched that Butterfinger was no omega, just incredibly shy at times. Muscles built from swimming had formed beneath his rich orange yellow pelt. He was a stark contrast to his brother, but now he did not see himself as bad compared to good, Tae reinforced that they were simply different not better or worse.
"Yes in the day I do a little morning patrol of the area and then spend most of the noon fishing. Before sunset I normally go to store my catches and then head to the den to watch the pups and play with them while the others hunt for some dinner or snacks. We always try and keep one or two of us in the den."
He smiled fondly thinking of his nieces, nephews, and cousins. The pups were growing though and still they held that childish sparkle, they always hung to his words and played with him. Butterfinger was glad that he had found his distant family, glad to have a pack and home so filled with love. He watched Taw for a moment, was she happier alone? In a pack would her calm soothing nature be stifled or like the water would she simply pass the rocks with calm moving along her course? He wondered if she didn't have the same ripples, rapids, and falls that the river sometimes displayed.

Tae sat quietly, turning her gaze from the male she watched the river run it's coarse. Perhaps it was only natural for her to start to desire company, in what ever form life threw at her and run with it for a bit and stop denying herself it. Yes, she needed her time alone but she could still find that even when she started to form relationships with other wolves she just needed to choose the right ones to form relationships with, that would understand her. Perhaps this wolf would understand her... it had been too long she told herself... run with it for a bit and see where it takes you. She smiled and turned her head back to fix him with stormy grey eyes where now it look almost as if clouds were beginning to roll.
She rose and waked over to the fish had caught so far and turned her head back to look at Butterfinger over her shoulder. 'Let us put these someone safe and then we can have some fun...' She bend her forelegs and bowed down to gather a few of the fish in her mouth, she looked at him and waited for him to lead the way, her eyes fixed to his expectantly.

Butterfinger moved and gathered up the rest of the fish, he debated against taking her to where he stored his catches, but the area was within pack boundaries and he did not fear that Tae was any sort of thief. He led her into the territory, not too far in simply skirting the edge and towards a place where the water remained icy cold in the summer, and froze on top in the winter. Here Butterfinger dropped the fish a small dam made of crisscrossed thin logs kept the fish in and the water flowing.
He sat back on the bank and grinned at Tae curiously "What fun?" He had not played with another his own age in many moons. His brother had become troubled over his pups and their mother, and the two had since spent time in quiet contemplation and camaraderie then at play like young pups.

Tae slipped down the bank and hung on the edge while she lent down and carefully placed the few fish she had in her mouth into the small dam which was already holding a great deal of fish. She stared at the silvery creatures for a moment before retreating back up the bank and coming to Butter's side.
She sat next to him for a moment, simply absorbing his presence and then after a minute or two she turned her head and fixed his dazzling blue eyes with her own, the clouds now near bursting point. She let a grin slip up one side of her face, the expression was extremely rare on her and seem to knock several years off her usual attitudes. Suddenly she jumped from where she was sitting and snapped playfully at Butter's ear but before he could react she bounded down the bank, her speed rather unexpected for such a small wolf, but then she was very fit and her lean muscles well tuned.
Two paces away from the river bank she leapt, judging the distance perfectly and came to land in the swallower part of the river, this would work her muscles well, she began to run as best she could, downstream in the knee high water. From the best of her knowledge it was just over a mile before this river came to a small fall before supplying a rather large lake, now she would see what Butter truly had in him; would he jump.
Turning her head for a split moment she tried to see if he had taken her bait and was giving chase.

Butterfinger sat a moment enthralled by her eyes, and surprised at how much he enjoyed the company of another. Not just any other though, normally he disliked having his peaceful moments by the river intruded upon, but this wolf was different. She was like a part of the river he loved so much, before he could further contemplate the thought he felt a tiny sting at his ear and grinned.
His back legs were in motion before he could even process what he was going to do. His mind was still dazzled by her smile, but his legs were already racing after her with wild abandon. He leapt and sprang along in the water his fur wildly mussed as always gleamed as the water clung to his coat but barely managed to penetrate it. Such a diet of fish had left him as sleek as an otter when it came to the waters.
He smirked as he dashed past Tae and with only a grin and a glance back at her he hurled himself over the small fall before the water could sweep him.

From the corner of her eye she caught a glimpse of yellow, he was giving chase and a the speed he set himself at he would easily over take her. A moment later he pasted her, proving her right. She admired him then, he wasn't so shy now and some how he appeared larger and was due more respect than that due to an omega, which is behaviour had at first displayed. She smiled and sprang upwards, lifting herself from the water and then landing, sending jets of water out from herself as the weight carried her under before she came back to her full height and added more speed to her run, her muscles working at full force.
Losing sight of Butter as he leapt over the fall, proving to her their was more to him than at first met the eye she charged forwards and took flight, her hind legs pushing her forwards. Free falling for what seemed like a split second she hit the water below and sank down into it's depths.
Moment later she pushed her nose up out of the water and took a large amount of oxygen into her lungs, the rest of her following she began to paddle in the deep water and searched about for Butterfinger.

Butterfinger chuckled and gasped for air before dragging himself on the shore, he shook off and grinned as he saw Tae push her nose up. He leapt back into the deep water and swam after her, his legs cutting the water with ease. His head he dipped into the water and tossed it up spraying the droplets about.
He chuckled and swam over to Tae "Quite a rush!"

Tae caught sight of Butter swimming towards her and a small smile flickered across her jaw at his comment. She closed the gap between then and suddenly with her hind legs she forced herself out of the water to her ribs and lunged at Butter, bringing all her weight down to push him under the water in play.

Butterfinger went under and nipped at her tail beneath the water playfully. He bobbed back up laughing and brushing against her with joyful abandon. He felt oddly buoyant and not just because of the water, his spirits were lifted as well.
He swam back towards the shore and flopped up onto the riverbank with a chuckle. "That was fun..." He stood and shook himself off his fur puffing wildly before slowly settling into waving spiked patterns. His coat gleamed with health and his eyes were bright from the shared moment.

Tae span her head about to stare down into the water beneath her as she felt a sharp n** at her tail, flicking it about as if trying to disperse the feeling. She watched as Butter came to the surface, brushing past her and then making his way to the bank. So there was more to him than at first met the eye, but that didn't surprise her, her years gave her the wisdom to see such things. She swam slowly back to join him on the bank, enjoying the balance that was always present between sinking and floating.
With calm grace she climbed out of the water to come alongside the larger male, her cool exterior returning. She did not shake the excess water from her coat for the moment, she allowed the air to snap and bite the cold creating a tingling feeling across her body but before it could take a hold of her she shook the excess water free, her coat becoming ruffled. She sat herself down on the ground next to him, looking out across the water.
She had denied herself the pleasure of another's company for to long now, she could not avoid that truth now. As much as she enjoyed her own company, she was just the same as another wolf at the end of the day, she needed this connection. Turning she rested her storm grey eyes upon his dazzling blue and blinked once before pulling in close to him, running her nose into the thick fur of his neck and leaning in close.

Butterfinger froze at first surprised by the cool nose against his neck, he gave a soft smile and let his tail give a waver of happiness. Slowly he turned to nuzzle the bridge of Tae's nose. How peaceful he felt, no need for words to explain the fragile bond that they had seemed to have formed.
He slowly wrapped his tail around her side, the cold air didn't ruffle him at all, he was used to icy waters, and lakes heated by the sun. "This is nice..." He murmured softly against her ear.

Feeling his tail wrap about her and rest upon her back foot, the thick hair tickling. The way his throat rested upon the bridge of her nose and they way his warm breath sent a tingling sensation down her back as he spoke softly in her ear. It was these things she missed most, how long ad it been? A small voice answered her and she sighed softly, too long.
She leant in closer to him, her ink black fur mingling with his yellow, she allowed herself to pass on some of her weight, to feel someone close to her and take a little from her. She held herself there in that moment, she felt totally content, the peace of the water and finally the bond with another. She took a little of the weight back and running her nose back up along his neck, she tilted her nose upwards, enough so that she licked the side of his lip, softly. Holding her nose an inch or so away from the bottom of his lip she whispered a, 'Thank you.'

Butterfinger smiled softly as she leaned against him, he enjoyed the way her warmth seeped into his fur, into his skin, deeper, deeper...until it was his very heart that felt it. They sat in a comfortable silence, no awkward silence, no need to chatter mindlessly. His eyes closed for a moment as he savored the time, place, and above all company.
The lick surprised him slightly, he opened his eyes and gazed at her a long moment before giving a soft nod, smile still in place. He gave her muzzle a tender lick in return.
((shall we leave it like this and start another where he could try and convince her to meet/join the pack?))
