Typhoon bent his head down as she left, preening the hatchling carefully. The little one wouldn't be flying anytime soon, so it wasn't necessary, but feathers felt much better when in position. He peeped again, and Ty chuckled.
While she was gone, Ty had managed to nudge the hatchling into the curve in the trunk of his tree. The indent was just big enough to hold a hatchling without fear of the child falling out, and that was what he had carved it slowly into the tree for.
When Meadowsweet returned, Ty gave a grateful smile. "Of course, Meadowsweet." His smile showed that he remembered how easily distracted she was, but he didn't mind. This fledgling, no matter how impatient, could wait, just as Ty could.
"Ready for some food, little one?" Typhoon asked, and by the frantic peeps Snowpeak was obviously ready for food. He ripped the shrew into bits, feeding the hungry hatchling.
In between ripping the prey into smaller pieces, he thanked Meadowsweet. "You've made my night quite a bit easier. Thank you, dear. Where will you be off to now?" His dark gold eyes sparkled a bit, knowing that Meadowsweet was young and enjoying life.

The gentle question was all Meadowsweet needed to put her back on track for the evening. Laughing softly, she nodded and nudged the squirrel over to Ty with her will. "For you, too," she said, rather redundantly. Then she preened her wings and smiled at both Ty and the little fluff. "Yes, I think I really ought to be going. I have things to do that won't get done otherwise, and I could distract myself all night with this handsome little thing." She grinned broadly and turned to leave.
"It's been wonderful seeing you again, Pa Ty," she said over her shoulder. "I should come and visit you more often." Nodding amiably, she smiled, stretched her wings, and dropped from the branch. "Have a good night!" she added after-the-fact, in an attempt to be polite the way she was raised.
And then her thoughts were off of Ty completely. Maybe that handsome male was still hanging around somewhere. It wasn't too late for her to catch him, if she went looking hard enough. After all, she had her talons in him once already, and the lads were so much easier to catch the second time round.
