Just as she was about to walk forward, Naga'nika heard Dakarai's challenge. With a small smile, she bound forward after him. She kept him in her sight, not wanting to lose him. But, his color stood out against the grass compared to her own.
It didn't take her long for her to pick up the scent of the watering hole, she knew it wasn't that much farther away.

Likewise catching the scent of the watering hole, he pictured where he was in the relation to home. It wasn't too far, which was comforting to the cub. Thinking of the watering hole itself, he remembered their day there, and all the flowers that could be picked so close to the tasty water. Now thirsty at the thought of said water, he kicked it, looking back to make sure he didn't lose Naga'nika.
While that took only a few seconds, it was long enough for the golden cub to trip and tumble unhurt into the water that had come up quicker than he had expected. Startled, but none the worse for wear, he looked up and around as if the water had moved and pounced him rather then how it really happened. Moments later he shook off as much of the water as he could, timing right the water could 'pounce' another victim in the form of the pale green cub he was playing with.
Exuberance, he was learning, doesn’t lead the paws reliably.

Just as her lime eyes caught the water up ahead, Naga'nika's attention was shifted towards Dakarai as he tripped forward into the water. Once the water had settled, she nudged him lightly, "Are you alright, Dakarai? That wasn't nice of the water to trip you!" She stuck her tongue out at the water before she realized that she had some water on her from Dakarai.
She turned to look at him, "Oh? Trying to get me wet, huh!" She giggled.

Being nudged, he was instantly comforted, at least he wasn't as embarrassed. Smiling he nodded and mentioned, "It must have wanted to see me quicker then I could get to it." Laughing at her antic, with the ripples from the water droplets it really looked like the water was reacting.
With a very wide smile, he responded, "The water just wanted to say hi," He didn't deny trying to get her wet because to do so would be a lie. However, he could phrase it other ways. Looking away only a moment, to look at the flowers, he saw plenty of verity around the watering hole and nudged her gently towards them, maybe he could see which one she liked best so he could show her how to pick them if she didn't know already and offer one as a gift. His Momma liked flowers so he assumed most lions would like them as well.

At his words, Naga'nika laughed. "That must be it! It was excited to see you!" She put on a fake sad face as she looked at the water, "Well, hello to you too!" She pawed at the water playfully.
Once she felt Dakarai's nudge, she turned her attention to him and where he wanted her to see. Her eyes widen in surprise, "Wow! Look at all the flowers!" There were plenty of colors and varieties of flowers. She walked closer to them to get a closer look.

Watching the water ripple out in now waves because of the bigger disturbance made by her paw, he laughed more, the water was waving back. Well, it would look better if it wasn't waving in the wrong direction but that was hardly the point.
Happily he kept to her side as she approached the flowers, giving his observation, "The like it near the water, though I have seen them scattered about elsewhere. The hoofed thing and even rabbits eat them." Making a face, muzzle wrinkled up and tongue out for effect, he expressed his view of eating flowers. Yucky stuff, the only bit that was alright was the stem if you didn't bite into it. Weird how something that smelled so nice could taste so bad, but it managed it.

Once she was close enough to the flowers, Naga'nika stuck her head to the closest one and inhaled. Ah, it was so sweet and nice! She smiled before she heard Dakarai's words. She looked back at him with a horrified expression, "They eat the flowers?! Why would anyone want to eat them?" She couldn't even begin to wonder why, or even if they tasted good. To her, the flowers were beautiful.
She tilted her head, "Do you like the flowers? I've seen others wear the flowers."

Pawing lightly at a particular white flower, he caused no harm to it but did get a nice whiff of the flower. Seeing her expression, he remarked as gravely as a cub can, "I don't understand it either." The flowers didn't taste good, but were great to look at. The hoofed things liked them though, who is to wonder about their logic?
To her question, he remarked, "I like them, they smell wonderful and are very pretty. I bring them to my Momma a lot as gifts." They were perfect for everything, while he may not want to wear one, they did also look wonderful on others.

At Dakarai's response, Naga'nika was elated. At least she wasn't the only one who thought that then! Her sister, Tiamat, wasn't as adamant on her affections of the flowers as she was. To Tiamat, they were just there and that's it, but to her, they were something else. She leaned forward and blew a little breath at one, watching it sway slightly.
Her eyes travelled back towards Dakarai, "Oh you do? I wonder if my Mommy would like any. She probably would, since Daddy like to bring her gifts some days." She pondered for a moment on it before looking back at her friend, "How do you bring them to her?"

Watching the flowers, he reflected on how much his mother enjoyed them, so felt assured when he said, "I am sure she will, my Momma loves them and their friends." Perfect logic in his mind. Besides, he suspected that just the action of giving a gift made it special, not just the gift itself.
Her question allowed him to show a new skill he had been shown and had perfected as far as he was concerned. "I'll show you, any flower can be picked, but the longer ones work better." Now, the teacher crouched down and used his muzzle to coax a bright yellow flower to lean to the other side. The actions also temporarily move the petals up enough to bear the green stem.
Opening his mouth, his sharp white teeth were bared as if he were going for the throat of a preybeast, rather then the delicate task at hand. Part was to exaggerate to demonstrate. Biting down on the stem, the teeth to the bottom of the plant bit down more so and he tugged his head to the left in a sharp movement, breaking the plant off from the bottom of where bit.
With a big grin, he put the flower down by her paws and nudged it forward, "For you." He offered it to her as a gift as well as the lesson.

With a nod, Naga'nika was reassured with his words. Plus, it would be a nice surprise for her mother. She wanted to show her mother just how much she loved her!
Then her eyes widen happily as she smiled, "Ok!" She sat there quietly, watching Dakarai carefully pick the flower. She made sure to take careful mental notes as she didn't want to do it wrong and hurt any of the other flowers. That would make her sad.
Once Dakarai had the flower in his mouth and placed it in front of her, she jumped up in surprise, "Really? Thank you so much Dakarai!" She reached out to nudge his shoulder in gratitude.

Flowers were one of his favorate tokens of affection for his own mother. One of his many little goals was to find many pretty things he could bring home to give to his momma.
Proud of his teaching job, he beamed brightly as she nudged his shoulder, "Your welcome!" He was delighted she liked the flower, and that he could help her by showing her how to pick the flowers so there would be many more chances for picking and giving the gifts.
Before the parted paths, it was starting to get late after all, he wanted to make sure there was nothing more he could do that day, "Would you like to try picking a flower?" He could see how well she got the concept, and help out if there was something he didn't make clear.

At his question, Naga'nika nodded her head slightly. It would be good for her to try and put the things she learned to use. Plus, she'd get to pick a flower all by herself! "Yes, I should try and see how I do."
Her gaze swept over the flowers as she decided on which one she'd pick. After finding the perfect one she wanted to pick, she smiled. She took a few steps closer to the flower before she bent her head forward. Once her muzzle was near the stem of the flower, she opened her mouth slowly and wrapped it around the stem. She chewed on it till she felt the stem crack. With the flower in her mouth, she looked at Dakarai with a large grin, or as much of a grin as she could muster with the flower in her mouth.

The wise teacher watched his exteremly clever student practice the skill he had so taught, all sagely done. When she got the flower on the first try, he cheered and jumped up and down once, careful of the flowers around his paw. Impressed, he smiled brightly as he inspected the flower a moment.
"Great job, Naga'nika! You got it perfect!" She was a great learner, he saw, and he was very glad for her.Almost purring with delight at her achivement, was fully and enthuastically happy for her learning so well. Now she could get gifts for her momma as well, wouldn't she be impressed!

At his praise, Naga'nika couldn't help but feel her face flush. It was a good thing, at least she had gotten it right the first time! She would have been really embarrassed if she hadn't! Not that Dakarai would have cared, he was her friend afterall and friends overlook silly, little stuff like that.
Gently, she put the flower on the ground. She didn't want to ruin the petals before she brought it back to her mother. She had also noticed how late it was getting, "I guess we should probably head back before our moms worry about us." She nodded slowly, "I had so much fun!" Her face lit up in a smile, "I hope I see you soon, Dakarai!" And she hoped so, he was her best friend! After Tia, that is. "Bye Dakarai!" She needed to get a nickname for him.
She picked up both her flower and the flower that Dakarai had given her. With both of them in her mouth, she looked at him once more before she turned and headed off in the direction of her den.
