Ashling lifted her head at the inquiry, before smiling, oh so knowingly, to herself. While she held no ulterior motives to her statement, she did know quite well what her comment might cause to a male who may or may not have been expecting something from her.
"Mmmm.. I'd hardly say that I'm 'alone' out here." she replied, a light shrug across her shoulders before settling once again with a slightly content smile on her face.
Ooooh, 'romantic', eh?
Well not really, as she continued with the notion.
"I just went out for a walk, but I will be needing to return to my son sooner or later.. though sooner rather than later." Ahh, the 'single mom' card, wasn't it? Though there was no reason for her to disclose that said 'son' was adopted.
He didn't even look the part of 'adopted', though all irony of the situation aside there was good cause for that they looked alike as they did.

The mention of a son gave Zeus only a slight pause before he grinned widely and stretched where he lay.
So she was a mother, eh? Well, that could only mean that she was experienced, even if it was only a little. Its not like he was looking to take her in or be a father to cub. If anything, he wanted only a single night with her, or maybe some very pleasant companionship, and then he'd be off again. What did a son matter? She'd said she didn't have a man to come and rough him up for invading his territory and that was all that really mattered.
"Is that so? A son? Mmm, you make a most lovely mother, Ashling." He purred. "That thought is infinitely tantalizing. I can't understand why you don't have a male of your own, when any lion could go crazy with the thought of your lovely form cradling copies of it." He chuckled, his voice deep. It really was a lovely picture in his head, even if he had no intention of being father to any cubs.

Not quite 'experienced' yet, however. She was closer to being experienced in ways of motherhood on a terrible key than anything else, unfortunately. But she'd remain happily oblivious to such for some good company.
Perhaps not a 'night', as she'd return to her adopted ward before too late, but long enough to be good conversation and allow some contact, as was the case currently. The sun could tick by for a while before she'd run off to go back to being a 'mother'.
"Mmmm, I handle myself well enough without the male figure looking over me or the child. It is easier to feed and care for two than three."
Implications of having no need for a constant male figure in her life? Certainly so. She was handling things just fine on her own, so she'd handle them as they were without the extra distractions.
"Besides, not ever male needs one singular female, so it's only fair I don't play the same card until I'm fully ready for it."

Zeus chuckling in surprise as she voiced her opinions, lifting his brow in an expression of interest.
"And here, I thought a male would make things easier, since he could do half of the hunting and caring for a cub." He chuckled, his tail gently flicking. Shrugging heavy shoulders, he leaned back as his jaws split wide in a yawn. "I suppose I can see your point, about a male having multiple females, but isn't that just the way of the world? A male may share himself with many females, but a female only really needs one male to father her cubs and protect her. And can you really say that you wouldn't like a strong, steady figure to keep you company and help you?" He offered her a teasing looking, his smile curling over his face.
With the sun falling from its great height, the heat starting to slack off and this female with a less than welcoming attitude, the hold the place had on the orange male was weakening. It was starting to feel like time to move on, to find a greener oasis so to speak.

Ah ha ha, yes. There was the idea of moving on to a place where there would be many females to a male (which actually wouldn't have been a pleasant layout of life to herself), but either way brought the lioness to sit up, her body groaning from the tired effort.
She'd never felt so old as a cub.
"Ah, yes. No matter the lion, the lioness will always be the mother. There are no matters to that, no..." she mused, her own eyes turning to gaze at the sun. Hmmm, perhaps it was best that she not keep herself staring out at the sun for too long, mm?
No, she rather liked her eyesight at that time, and would be better for her to know which ball of white fluff it was she was chasing after... .... ...
"The sun is getting low.." she said, pointing out the obvious, but making sure to imply a tone that was very.. firm in pointing out what it was she was meaning in an undertone.
It was getting dark and she had a cub to go tend to. There was no 'good' mother in the world that would have left their young one alone like that after dark (no matter how much the boy would have enjoyed it)

Zeus seized on her implied dismissal with relief, a broad smile splitting his face.
"Too true, too true." He said as he almost bounced to his paws, stretching leisurely. "You have a cub to get to, I'm sure. I wouldn't be much of a gentleman if I kept you from such an important responsibility. You are to be commended for being so attentive." He said, putting warmth into his voice.
Turning, he offered her a cavalier bow, dipping head low. "I hope we meet again, dear angel. Perhaps we might converse more then, or explore other ways to enjoy ourselves. I hope you and your child keep well until then."
He wasn't going to hold out much hope of seeing her again. He usually didn't see a female more than once, but the idea didn't really bother him. Such was the life he'd chosen for himself.

And to his bow, she offered one of his own. Certainly he was delightful company in some ways, but like him, she had no need to attach herself to one person just to be tied down forever. No.
He could be free as a bird, she would be free as a bird.
But with their parting words, it was time for her to be off again, sighing deeply as she rose to her feet to start through the grass in the failing light of the sun. She'd had a little 'snuggletime' away from the child, now it was time to return to rearing the little booger.
But she enjoyed him.
For who knew how long it would last. Just like meetings with wandering womanizers (not that she was much better) and other things that passed over the savannah.
Short times.
Short meetings.
And then things moved on, just like the world was meant to.
