Sakyh Zombicide Sakyh Zombicide It's self-explanatory. Why must it be explained? Anyone in denial of Halo being overrated is severely retarded. severely stupid you mean. Nope. I mean severely retarded. The only way you don't notice that Halo is overrated is if you have a severe mental disorder. Even hermits who have lived out in the woods all their lives know that Halo is one of the most overrated anythings in the world. My brother is severely mentally retarded man. So's mine, actually, although it bothers me if anyone refers to him as "retarded." I guess it's because I was using that as an insult years before he was born. And I thought everyone knew that about you...

Now though, because everyone ignorantly uses the term wrong, they wnat to chane it to "cognative disability." I just get so tired of having to change things because of ignorance and stupidity. Teach the ignorant so that they understand, and find a cure for stupid. >< Okay, vent over. Seriously? I honestly cannot recall ever mentioning that my little brother has severe mental retardation. Ace Paladin I use "Developmental Disability" D:
'Cause my Psych teacher works at Bancroft and says that's the correct term. My mother teaches kids with MR. (Mental Retardation) What your saying is kinda true: its an umbrella term. When a kid is born, if they have something like MR or Down syndrome, they have waht's known as a "Developmental Delay" If the delay is permenant, then it's a "Developmental Disability," but multiple things fall under that category. It's like using the term "white." Three people could be white, but one could be Irish, another German, and the third could be French. A lot of different disabilities fall under that category, therefore while that is what the disability is, it's not specific, it's general.

Our teacher was saying "retarded" is another one of those used-to-be-but-no-longer-acceptable-medical-terms. At one point, "looney" and "crazy" were considered medically appropriate.

(and Down syndrome, & autism) Sorry, I was unclear. I meant I thought everyone knew you didn't like that word being used as an insult. And I'm with Ace on this particular issue. "Retard" is not an approproate medical term. If anyone called my little brother a "retard" I would be offended to no end. If they called me a retard, I wouldn't really care since I grew up with my older brother calling me that constantly. EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not trying to make the case that we should all be allowed to say it without it bothering you, Sakyh. I believe Language is a powerful thing and should be used sensitively.

Well Mental Retardation is the correct term. Metal Disability is something else though. That's something either caught on or something is going in the brain. Mental Retardation is genetic so is the correct term. The problem is though Retarded I think came from the word "Retard" which means slow in French. However I can't guarantee because of the Root which I think is Latin.

Sakyh tangocat777 Sakyh Zombicide It's self-explanatory. Why must it be explained? Anyone in denial of Halo being overrated is severely unintelligent. severely stupid you mean. Absolutely right. The "R" word is us in such a hateful and twisting way these days, isn't it? (hint to everyone out there) whoa. Tango I'm impressed you remember that about me. 3nodding Yes, I have the miraculous ability to remember things that re useful. I really do mean what I say, though. People say the word with the intent of coming back at someone and hopefully hurting them. I don't think it's a good way to respond. drinks some Dr. Pepper* I'm just taking the moral high ground today.

Any disability that affects ones intellect is considered a Menal Disability. It's an umbrella term, many things fall under that category. What's sad is that the leading (preventable) cause of Mental Retardation (and Down syndrome) is Fedal Alcohol syndrome, which is caused by women smoking or drinking during pregnancy. That wasn't the case with my brother though. Purely genetic.

The term "retarded" used to be purely platonic, but then, like Tango said, people used it to be hurtful. The word is fine, which is why I defend it. It alone is not a hurtful thing, people twist its meaning around and make it somethign it's not. I.E. mean or otherwise cruel/hurtful

Zombicide tangocat777 I've been gone too long. Has Daxel made a reply to this? Hey, Zombicide, what are you playing lately? Well, I got all the Quake games on my PC, so mostly I've been playing Quake III and the first one. Thinking about getting the Half-Life 1 set from Steam too. I've been gone a while as well. Feels like I haven't seen you guys in ages. I didn't ditch you all for Quake. I swear. D; I see. Hey, have you gotten Haze? How exactly do you think it compares to the Halo franchise? Then what did you ditch us for? I'd probably leave you all if they made another Battalion Wars...... naw....... White text!
