Typhoon cast his gaze to the side, trying to not intrude on her thoughts. He felt a certain bond with this other Ghost Sentinel, their feathers were colored so similarly, and he tried his best to make conversation with her and still not intrude on her privacy.

"A ranger? Scouts and rangers perform about the same task, don't they?" Typhoon had to admit to himself that he didn't know much about the combatant tasks, and felt a little silly not knowing more about them. But his life was the fluffs and the fledglings, and that he wasn't ashamed of. "I don't know much about the combatant tasks, unfortunately. Maybe you can fill me in a little?" He asked, preening an out of place chest feather.

The Ghost gave an odd shrug with her wings. "Somewhat," she began and she blinked her nictitating membrane. Her eartufts perked slightly, which sent the Hunter's Talon dancing non-the-less.

"Both tasks patrol for anything uncommon or curious, but their courses and... patrol territories differ. Rangers go all over; they aren't restricted to a certain area and are normally around borders and less populated areas," she informed, her seriousness and stern undertone rising up again. "Scouts are normally in their own given area, and then patrol outward in differet directions from that major point."

"...The task of Ranger is also not as... highly held compared to the task of a Scout."

Typhoon nodded, taking in the information. He was always happy to learn things, especially information about tasks he could pass down to his charges, if they were interested in these tasks.

"So you've gained a Scouting Territory and a good bit of respect. Neither sounds too terrible. Is your plan to become an Elite someday?" Typhoon saw from her upward movement through the combatant tasks that she was probably still on the move upward. She seemed good at what she did, or at least good at pretending (and Ty sorely doubted she was lying).

His ear tufts twitched, and the Ghost Minder asked, "Or are you happy being a Scout?"

The Minder's initial question surprised the Scout greatly and her feathers slicked down in response as she held back a small 'Hoot.' However, she couldn't stave away the little bit of excitement that swelled down inside her; her eyes grew larger while something glittered brightly behind them -- though only for a second -- at the word "Elite."

The Ghost Minder knew how to read others too well.

"An Elite... yes," she said, nodding her head faintly as her feathers rose out of their slicked positions. Her voice, for a moment, lost almost every ounce of its gruff and stern exterior, and revealed something mild and fair. But it didn't last long, and her usual tone returned as she went on, "It's something I've wanted for a very long time... but something that won't be coming anytime soon."

Typhoon's eyes flashed in excitement when he finally caught onto something the Scout was genuinely interested in. He hadn't met any Elites up close, although he'd seen a few from far away. They were even more dedicated to their Task than even fair Ladyhawk was. That sort of dedication was a bit frightening to Typhoon...Elites seemed like they would do anything to protect the Clan, but he supposed that those few who gained the rank were of able mind to make the right decisions.

"What is necessary to become an Elite? Just doing a good job at your Task?" Ty's head bobbed slightly, curious to know. It seemed that the Elites who were in Deep Woods had always been there. There was a certain mysterious quality to them that he saw a little of in LadyHawk.

LadyHawk liked to think that she had at least some solid information on how to securely become an Elite, but in truth she did not and she wasn't one to lie. "As far as I know, there isn't a step-by-step guide," she began. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other and sleeked her dusty plumage slightly. "If there was... I would have followed it many moons ago."

She paused for a minute and looked out into the forest, like an old war veteran reminiscing on their code of duty from way-back-when. A small, almost wistful expression flitted across her eyes, but it disappeared when she started up once more. "One has to show skill in their task, of course, but I believe that they must -- above all -- show a type of altruistic quality in their actions as they aid and protect the Clan.

You can think you have what it takes, but you just never really know..."
