The girl swung in a downwards motion with as much power as she could call forth. The power was too much for her weakened body to handle. What she had refused to do before, Zoku had come to now; She fell to her knees. The hard sandy ground that barely gave root to any grass was hit by the heavy thud of her knees. She felt the hard ground scrape up against her dry skin and cut the surface. The pain was nothing compared to what she had just been through. Zoku tried to recall the unbearable attacks that this creature had hit her with. The adrenaline in her body kicked up as she clenched tightly onto the wooden fence post. The splinter wood dug into her hand as she gripped it like a normal child would be doing to their mother's hand. Not Zoku... she did not grip her mother's hand like this. She had never gripped anyone's hand this tightly unless she was trying to break their bones. Bones. The thought hit her hard as she took the fence post with both hands. "ARRG!" she screamed out like a true warrior as she brought the post above her head once more.

The warriors cry was merely that, just a cry. Again Zoku hit nothing but hard ground, cracking the fence post slightly with her blow to the earth. Her vision was far to blurry to even see an inch out in front of her. As she hung in head in fautigue, the faint smell of blood hit her nose. The spots where her father and cut the creature. She could smell its rusty blood pouring out. Her father had told her to feast upon it and so, she would. Dropping her head down to the body, Zoku began to peel back the skin from the cut in the creature's body. The heavy pain brought the man back to life, his eyes wide as he witnessed the little Meho tearing into his red flesh with her white teeth. The site was such a site that the man passed out once again into the blackness that Zoku's father had first sent him.

As the warm gooey flesh moved around in her mouth, Zoku closed her eyes. Why did anyone cook food? It seemed to ruin the true flavor of the meal. Once she swallowed, the young girl did not wipe the blood away from her mouth. She let it drip down her chin back onto the fallen monster that had attacked her. That's when Zoku noticed the paleness of the man's skin. It was skin that Zoku had never sewn before. Now more than ever, Zoku wanted to beat the man's face into a pulp. Once he was dead, she would skin him! His flesh would be hers and she would make it into a beautiful bird. One of the white birds she often saw here on the island near the the shorelines. The bird would not be normal though. Oh, no. It would be a hideous rendition with strange protrusions coming out of its body just like its owner had. Zoku cringed at the thought of the bones, but she wouldn't let herself fall victim to the memories everytime she looked at the doll. With her hands grabbing the frayed fence post, Zoku felt a new strength in her!

Zoku just couldn't do it anymore. "Dad..." she said with a whisper, turning to her father as she leaned on the fence post she had ripped out of the ground. "I.... I can't.... I can't feel my arm," the girl said as she felt all the strength in the arm she had been stabbed in go away. Her other hand was touching her arm, but she could not feel it. Zoku had been in one-sided battles where she dominated her opponent, but never been in such a helpless situation as this one. Her strength was leaving her and she knew that she was going to pass out soon. Even if eating the flesh of this creature, she could feel her morale and her physical strength leave her. Zoku was a female amongst a male's clan. This was the first time she had ever been treated so roughly. Her father had smacked her around a few times, but it was nothing compared to this type of damage. Zoku pressed her hand over her would and huddle over the fence post like a dying samurai.

Rakkou had finally seen the true face of his daughter, cowardice. " You always wanted to be a warrior and now that you find something stronger than yourself you become a whimpering mess! Meho never back down, we fight till our last breath! So what does that make you? " The cold blooded Meho offered no fatherly comfort nor chastisement even if it sounded that way, his speech was simply a challenge for his daughter to become a Meho. With a fire in his eyes the mighty father of Teizoku tightened his grip around the Kaguya's throat, the sudden lack of oxygen shocking him back to consciousness as Rakkou suddenly roared out. " NOW CRACK HIS BONES!"

Zoku stared at the ground as her father spoke to her. She really did want to become a warrior! Now her father was telling her she wasn't even Meho as she whimpered and complained. The girl felt like an utter disgrace as she dug her fence post into the dirt. Her upper lip twitched as she thought about the weakness she was showing. Would her first charge to becoming a true Meho be her last? Teizoku had never really thought about death, but she could grasp giving up. She felt as if she had been spit upon with the words her father shot at her, but it was a disgrace she needed to raise her head up and tighten her grip on that fence post. A chill ran up Teizoku's spine and her father let out a beastly growl telling her to crack his bones. The Kaguya's eyes snapped open to shock and Zoku managed to smile just before releasing her sideways slug against his arm.

There was no cracking of bones as Teizoku hit the paralyzed man. It was as if she had tapped him! The end of the fence post dug into the ground. Blood from Teizoku's arm streamed down onto the wood and mixed with the dirt. Her vision was blurry and her head felt light. "Last breath..." the girl whispered to herself as she thought of the words her father and put in her head. Stubbornly, Zoku lifted up the fence post again to hit the man. Even if her hits were weak and caused no damage, she would continue swinging until she passed out. However, the spirit of the Meho suddenly filled Teizoku as she swung that fence post at the same spot she had hit so dully before. With this hit a loud crack sounded throughout the air as she did indeed break those bones!

The pleasure of causing this creature pain filled Zoku with excitement. Even as the world around her was blacking out, she wanted to see red with that black. This time as the fence post came to the ground and dug into it, the blood dripping into the dirt was not Zoku's but that of the creatures. She breathed deeply trying to steady her light-headed body, so that she could see straight. Licking her lips as the blood from biting into the creature began to dry, Zoku let the metallic taste soak her taste buds and give her another jolt of spirit. Bringing the fence post high above her shoulder, Zoku turned to wind up to hit the creature in the thigh.

"Ga-" Zoku cried out as the strength in her legs gave out and she twisted her body farther than her ankles could keep up. The pain was searing and caused Zoku to roll her eyes back into her skull. She wouldn't let it stop her. Forcing her eyes to roll forward, Zoku head swayed from side to side as she dropped the fence post she had been gripping onto so tightly. With her eyelids fluttering and struggling to stay open, Zoku fell to her knees, but she was not giving up. "I want..." she breathed deeply and heavily as she grew near to her breaking point. "to... be," she said, her hand finding that fence post once again. Rising to her feet, she forced herself to swallow and soothe the dryness in her throat. "...A WARRIOR!" she roared out, just as her father had done to her earlier. With the mighty yell, Zoku drug the fence post on the ground, creating a deep and heavy groove as she swung it upwards to crack against the side of the Kaguya.

Zoku gritted her teeth together as she heard the post make another loud crack into the man's side, breaking the bone underneath his thigh muscle. A mad smile came across Zoku's face as her bright eyes went dark with her grim mood. Not giving herself a chance to rest and not even breathing between strikes, Zoku took both hands to the fence post to swing around like a madman to crack the ribs next. As the fence post collided with the man's ribs, not only one crack was heard, but several. It was a like a beautiful chiming noise that sent chills down Zoku's spine as the sounds both tormented and satisfied her. "HAHA!" Zoku laughed madly with her dance of clobbers just before the fence post hit the ground from her swing and brought up a dust cloud.

Zoku's chest heaved up and down like a dog's as she panted heavily and even drooled slightly from her moment of hysteria. "I am..." she said to herself as she stopped panting for a moment to swallow. "I am..." the girl repeated as she looked up at the creatures face. "I am... a Meho warrior!" she yelled at him in a crazed and high pitch scream as she brought up the log of wood once again and jumped to crack the man in the head, causing his ear to bleed. The blood streamed down the side of his head almost like a small waterfall.

That was it. The last critical hit she did the man was all the strength she had left her. The energy it had taken for the girl to jump had completely drained her. Her feet had hit the ground, but she had not landed sturdily. Like the steady beats of a war drum, Zoku's feet hit the ground, then her knees and then her chest, followed by the bounce of her head. As she faded into darkness, the girl left with a smile on her bloody face and her fingers lightly draped over the chunk of wood she had beat the creature with. She had fought till her last breath before being taken by the darkness. If this was her death, Zoku hoped they would have called her a true Meho warrior, but she was merely unconscious and her father would have to finish off the bone creature.

A worn down Meho village... It barely stood after almost all of its inhabitants had been sent off to die in a war that didn't have a chance to be won. That was the way of a true Meho warrior though; to keep swinging until their last breath. The village had been burnt down by the cut throats that lived in Runner's Bay. Without the Meho's to keep them in check on their little settlement, they were doing as they pleased on the island...
Tsuigi has been walking for most of the day, heading to Runner's Bay in order to find a ship off the island after stealing his father's sword. Like most Meho's, Tsuigi was a bit headstrong and forgot to pack a lunch! Search the remains of the village for some fresh fruit or bread to eat.

The sound of wood hitting on rocks echoed through the empty village. Most people had been slaugthered and those few survivors had fled like chickens. "How pathetic" a voice shrieked. It was a boy native to the village. Tsuigi had traced back his steps from his path to Runner's Bay and into his village or more like its ruins. He was on his way to find a way out of the island when he noticed he was carrying no food. " Theres got to be something around." One could still smell the smoke from the burned down huts and seewhat appeared to be carbonized carcasses in some places. It was all a disappointment to Tsuigi.
What remained of the glorious warrior clan had fled like cowards instead of figthing till the end. That behavior only made him sick and made him even more determined about his descicion to leave. There was nothing left for him here except maybe some food he could scavange. looking around between piles of cloth, boxes and burned down huts he looked closely to anything edible he could find.
