Jaden had arisen from sleep with a start, as though he had sensed more than heard that something was amiss. Rising quickly from his bed, he'd pulled clothes on that he fumbled blindly for, and stumbled out to see what all the commotion was about, now that he could indeed hear that something was going on...and from the sounds of it, something very bad indeed.
Rubbing mismatched eyes, he blinked owlishly at the students and teachers milling about, and the great mess that had once been...the Science building. Gnawing on his lower lip, he looked about for a familiar face, hoping that someone could tell him what was going on. What had happened here? Why was the entire school in disarray and what on earth had caused the Science building to go up in flames like that? What with all those different chemicals and the like, that couldn't be a remotely good sign.
Ah! There! With a cry, he flung himself towards Nathaniel, moving to seize his friend's arm with a look of apparent distress. "Nat! What's going on?" He felt like he was floundering, and though he wished to be of aid, until someone gave him some sort of answers, he could do very little.
His heart sank, upon further glance, for it seemed that his friend was just as lost as he was, and that no one close knew precisely what had happened, simply that it had, and it was tragedy.

RuiZhi blinked up as he heard his name, giving a soft sound of relief. The youth curled his arm around Scyeth's bare back, resisting the urge to bury his face against the blonde's chest. "I'm fine," he assured the other, dark eyes flickering over the amassing group. He recognized most of the students, having met them or seen them in passing, and it did his heart good to see them all well.
Still, there were a few people he didn't see, but that could have been due to the darkness and his own tiredness. Looking up to Scyeth, he made a light 'hmm'ing noise at the lack of hat, lifting his free hand to touch the hair over his ears. At least it was still long enough for that. "You okay?" he inquired quietly, knowing the other hadn't gotten much sleep. RuiZhi had seen Weiyuan in passing, but guessed that he was looking for their sister, or a certain doctor.
He sighed softly. What happened?

Scyeth rested an arm around RuiZhi's shoulders, humming softly to himself as he nodded his approval. He turned to nuzzle the Chinese student's hair before looking around at the gathering. There was Weiyuan, oh, happy day. (At least RuiZhi wouldn't have to worry over him, same went for Alex.) And there was Al, Elijah. Nat. Grumble. The blond shook his head, turning back to the other student to ask something when he felt hands ghost over his ears. His ears. His hat!
Scyeth choked a little, reaching up to drag what was left of his hair over his ears. Oh gods. How could he keep his hair down the entire night? "Uh. Fine," he muttered, confused. And annoyed. "Do you know what's going on?" he muttered, continuing to fuss uselessly with his hair. "I haven't heard anything." Emergencies were Not Good when they were mysterious.

Micajah couldn't help but turn his gaze away from the building and its glory, directing his full attention instead to the group that was amassing ever more quickly around him. When he'd arrived it'd simply been him and a few others but now there were at least more than a half-dozen students milling here and there.
Mostly Science students, what with their building on fire and everything. I hope this won't spread too far, we can't afford any unnecessary damages.
His thoughts seemed to bounce here and there as he watched the interactions as the group continued to grow, and he couldn't help by smile to notice that bare chests and pajama pants seemed to be more of the standard, making him feel that perhaps he was overdressed. Still, Micajah didn't own pajama pants anyway and was more then content to sleep in his boxers alone, so it was most likely better that he'd come here in pants.
"Excuse me, but do either of you have any idea what may have caused this? And are either of you injured in any way? If I'm not mistaken you're Science students..."
Micajah was, of course, speaking to the couple nearest to him which happened to consist of Scyeth and RuiZhi, completely ignoring whatever close moment the pair may have been sharing in their shock and/or dismay.

The Chinese youth glanced back to the voice directed at him, blinking. "Micajah," he greeted the boy with polite familiarity. "I'm fine. It looks like the fire is mostly contained to one floor, but...I don't know anything. All we're doing now is making sure everyone is out and safe. You okay?"
It occured to RuiZhi that he didn't know which path Micajah was on...or any of the gathered, for that matter. Brown eyes shifted over his friends and new folk alike; Elijah was the only one he'd really known well. He'd met Nat in passing, and he thought he'd seen the wispy blonde clinging to the other...but everyone else was new. Not strangers, no, as they were all in this together.
"Is everyone all right?" he asked a little more loudly to the confused group. He was a Science student after all, he should be concerned with his peers as much as he was his building.

Scyeth listened as his friend explained, slightly irritated that RuiZhi was speaking with this...Micajah, did he call him? Yes, well. He was talking to him instead of the Aussie. So with a great huff, the blond took a step away from RuiZhi and began to fluff his hair. Had to keep it properly fluffed and arranged in just the right way. Once that was taken care of, the new Science student began to look around, actually taking tabs on everyone here.
Hey. Where was More?
Slightly concerned over someone he'd actually consider a friend (he wasn't exactly sure how the other blond felt on the matter, he was kind of hard to understand sometimes), he nudged RuiZhi's shoulder. It took a moment and then he prodded with much more urgency, demanding the Chinese student's attention. "Hey. Hey," he hissed, still mildly irritated. "I don't see More." Because, you know, maybe RuiZhi could fix all his problems.

Sasha sat at his desk in the dark, the only light emanating from the desktop monitor, bathing his face in stark light that left his eyes sore. He perched on his chair like a gargoyle, his knees pressed against his chest, wearing black flannel pajama bottoms and a black baseball tee, and of course his rabbit fur hat with the ear flaps hanging down beside his pale cheeks.
He usually wasn't up this late, but he didn't like to go to sleep before his brother came back into the room and, Nikolai had never come back. So he stayed awake as best he could, refreshing some page hoping someone would update it with a post. He yawned loudly and snapped his jaw shut, rubbing the lethargy from his eyes. This was so darned boring.
But his night suddenly picked up when a strange sharp and piercing sound began to throb across the monitors. He had never heard anything like it before and his surprised cry as easily drowned out by the constant blare. He pressed the furry flaps of his hat close to his ears and ran to his bed. What was he supposed to do? He didn't want to leave, what if Niki came back? His answer was made clear when he heard the patter of footsteps and few angry outbursts from the hallway.
Jumping off his bed, Alexander quickly put on his slippers and opened the door, watching a few students follow the emergency exit stairs. Stepping out, he finally decided it was best to follow as well, he couldn't wait for Niki. But he wanted to, so badly. He didn't know where he was supposed to go and he didn't know anyone. Pulling his door shut, the little Russian boy walked behind a pair of boys, mindlessly forgetting he still had his hat on.
---
"Oh my gosh..." Alex stopped and gawked at the billowing smoke and fire that raged through one of the buildings. He didn't know which one, but it wasn't the magic building. And then in the awe of it all he remembered Niki. Where was his brother?! Did he get out of their dorms. Was he in another building? Were those being evacuated too?! Sasha started to wriggle through the mass of onlookers, searching and calling for his brother. He wished he knew someone, anyone, who could help him.
He started to hear bits and pieces of the story or rather rumors of what had happened. He hoped no one had gotten hurt.

Micajah felt a small drop echo in the back of his mind as RuiZhi addressed him, one of a bit of embarrassment, as he wasn't entirely sure he remembered this small Chinese youth's name. He quickly ran the list through his head, a list given to him of the names of many students, and he found it easier to pick out what he needed when he narrowed the search down to 'Chinese names'.
There were two entries, a 'Weiyuan' and a 'RuiZhi'. He hoped it was the latter of the pair, but to play it safe he wouldn't address the other by his name...unless he really had to.
"I'm doing fine, thank you for asking. I'm a Magic student by my path, but I'm also a busybody by nature and had to come and see what was going on. It's good to see you and your companion are alright, though I may have miffed his feelings a little."
He chuckled as he looked at Scyeth's actions of fluffing his hair and strutting away, and he had to bite his lips slightly to keep back more laughter as Scyeth came back over and started his poking into RuiZhi's side. He couldn't keep in a snicker though.
He's just like a little kid.

RuiZhi frowned as Scyeth walked off, shaking his head to himself. Now wasn't the time for this. Smiling a bit at Micajah, he shrugged. "Don't worry about it. We have slightly more important things to worry about, like student's well beings." The Chinese boy kept his voice quiet and passive, taking out any edge his words may have had. "I personally don't know who is all in this building, but that floor isn't dorms, so...
...more what?" He glanced over to Scyeth, confused. "Some people are still sleeping, but--...oh, More?" He might never get used to that. "He stays in a different area, I think." RuiZhi was fairly certain the older boy stayed in the teacher's lounge for some reason, although it wasn't one he could fathom. He'd never seen the other in the student's area. In fact, he'd never seen the guy before the Christmas festival, so as far as he knew, he might have left the island.
The youth replaced his arm around Scyeth's back, holding him a bit more forcibly this time. Sure, the other could still pull away, but RuiZhi wasn't willing to fight at that moment. He reached out with his free hand, grabbing the shoulder of a boy who seemed to be in a panic. "Hey," he tugged lightly on the bunny-earred male, "no students would be allowed in the labs at this time, it's okay."
He peered back up at the flames licking outside the windows, trying to determine just what parts were burning. It still looked contained to the lab area, for now, but it wouldn't stay there long. "We have to do something..." he mumbled to himself.

Nathaniel was watching the building with burning eyes. His own emerald ones echoed the colors as the flickered back and forth and he bit his lower lip. His body turned to survey the other students. There was the Chinese student (he looks content clinging to that punk), naturally there was also the Aussie punk that Nat detested. There were Professors Araquanosse, Veilwood, Advisor Fang, a woman. There were two or three boys he'd never met, Elijah, and then Micajah, whom he still had not settled feelings on. They all looked fine, and for this he was slightly relieved. Although he didn't really like any of these people, except the teachers, he didn't want to be facing another massacre like on the plains of Australia all those years ago.
Just as he was about to go forward and join the little group to find out more, he was pummeled in the side by a blonde mess. Clinging to his arm and looking at him was Jaden. Instantly all of him softened and he scanned the other for any problems. A sigh of burning relief flood through his veins and he placed one hand gently on the other's shoulder, "Jaden." He smiled lightly, sadly, "You're all right. I'm glad..."
He turned back to the scene, swallowed, and looked back at the others, "I'm not quite sure yet... I was going to ask one of the teachers, but they look rather busy." He was matter-of-fact about this and his plan to ask Micajah if he knew anything began to fail. He couldn't simply drag Jaden around, and he didn't want to force his friend to let go. Not during a time like this. Never during a time like this. Nathaniel would keep this boy by his side until one of them died, if that was what was going on.
He had still not yet ruled out a repeat invasion.
Again he looked to the others, waiting to see some form of organization from the chaos, hoping he would soon know the problem at hand.
Ardanay Veilwood took moments to watch the scene. He was not getting answers like this. And he needed them. That was his building burning. It was his responsibility... going up in flames. It was almost like his life, and at this thought a most displeasing frown crossed his face which he quickly destroyed. That would do no good. He was a teacher. He had power, authority, and seniority at his disposal. Might as well use it.
And as he watched the students gather around, he noticed the groups they'd formed. The Chinese students and Scyeth on one side. Micajah near them. And Nathaniel and Jaden away from that. The teachers nearby but not near enough, and then him... just him. Standing there. Out of the loop. Out of concern... when the building was his own.
When his building was on fire.
Slowly he eyed the students again and was relieved yet again to find them safe. Priority number one, check.
Priority number two, find out what was going on. Not check.
And so he headed towards the group of teachers, crossing his arms and looking like he actually understand. Coming up to Dante and Herei, he tried to join in on the conversation. "Advisor Fang," he nodded politely, still taking the time, "Professor Araquenosse." He nodded again. "Do we have any updates on what happened? Was it a lab accident? It looks a little more serious than that..." His face was pale, even against the glow behind him. Clearly he felt too left out of this.

"Ah..." Sasha was so caught up in his own worry, he jumped as a gentle hand jostled him. He turned back to a young boy, he looked real young, but he exuded a calm air that discerned him as a leader among some of the other students around him. "Oh okay, but--" The boy looked back into the crowd of boys, his face twisted in worry. "My brother, I don't know uhmm where he is and--" Well, if he said no one would be in there then.... it'd be okay. Niki could take care of himself and he was always taught to stay put, it was easier to be found. So he would do just that.
Much too hot for his hat, he pulled it down and hugged it to his chest, watching the fire burn with Zhi. He looked back at the others timidly, before speaking up. "Won't the teachers take care of it?"

Dante blinked, then nodded, inclining his head just so. "Professor Veilwood," he murmured back in greeting, then listened patiently to what the man had to ask.
"We're not quite sure of that ourselves, Professor," Dante responded, glancing back to the building and to the students before looking back at his fellow teachers. "It might have been some sort of electrical wiring problem, or perhaps a chemical spill. I was just asking Professor Manneth the same question," he explained, turning his gaze back onto the flaxen-haired scientist. "Do you have any input at all, Professor? Anything--even just ideas--would be good."

Scyeth was growing more and more irritated. What the hell was with people? RuiZhi wasn't the almighty oracle, why wouldn't they just get a goddamn grip? He huffed when Zhi gave him a less-than-satisfactory answer (see? Not an oracle.) and folded his arms over his chest. This did not sit well with the Aussie. Not at all. While his boyfriend's touch may have generally soothed him, he couldn't help but be riled up all over again when RuiZhi was distracted by another idiot. God. What were they, headless chickens?
Speaking of headless chickens. It looked like Nat was having troubles of his own. What a perfect time to visit.
Famous Cheshire grin plastered to his face, Scyeth prowled over to where the Brit and the blond (another blond?) stood, huddled away from the rest. "My, my, what do we have here? Don't you look cozy?" he purred, voice entirely too sweet. Obviously, he was here to remedy the situation. He had not forgotten his grudge match. He never would. Nat had challenged him. Clearly, this other boy didn't know what Nat was, exactly. (Neither did Scyeth. But what he did know, he didn't like.) "Tsk, tsk."
Scyeth stood in front of Nat, blue eyes blazing. He was angry. An enemy was just what he needed right now. "Don't forget, dilweed, our war is still on." The fire wouldn't stop Scyeth, all it did (at the moment) was wake him up, make him crabby and generally, cause chaos. And just like that, Scyeth retaliated for the day in the lab. He stepped forward and kicked Nat in the shin as hard as he could. Trust me. That's really hard.
And with that, Scyeth turned on his heel and walked back to his group, proverbial storm cloud looming over his head.

Her search was becoming increasingly difficult with the amount of new people joining the fray. She was getting annoyed, having to refrain from snapping at the teachers to get the students away from the danger, but it was not her place. She was just an aid, after all. What the rest of the faculty did was really not her concern.
Alex milled through the people, checking faces, recognizing some and drawing blanks on more than half. It didn't matter, because it wasn't the unfamiliar ones she was searching for. Just one...one she knew. One who frequented the science building. One who had left her sight some time ago, to...
...to...
Despite the heat rolling off her shoulders, her skin broke into goosebumps. Alex pushed her way towards the teachers, standing stalk still as she regarded them with wide eyes. Her heart was in her throat as she looked at the doctor she had only recently known the name of. She fixed her bright, nearly wild eyes on the young man, swallowing around her thundering pulse.

Alex spoke.
“…Where’s Lina?”
Lorioth felt dread plop into his stomach like a boulder, making an unpleasant splash in his body.***** “Stupid cravings,” Lina muttered through a mouthful of ice cream and pickles. “I swear, they’re not getting any better.” She glared down at her belly, now beginning to round and protrude. “You are not helping my figure any, little man. Erm. Miss. Whatever you are.”
Alex laughed, pushing her friend on the shoulder playfully. “Well, at least you’re here to satisfy them, eh? I’d rather you be in a place where you can satisfy those cravings than in a situation where you’re starving.”
Lorioth’s brow creased a bit and he nodded. “We don’t know what exactly is going on inside of you right now,” the scientist murmured, running a hand through his hair. “If you didn’t satisfy these cravings, then it could prove…fatal. Not just for you, but for…”
“Oh, don’t be so melodramatic, I get the picture,” Lina laughed, standing and picking up her now-empty tray. “I’m grateful to Professor Prinwaltz and everyone for inviting me here, I really am. I don’t know what I would have done otherwise.”
“I would have snuck you on otherwise,” Alex told her smugly, smirking as her friend scraped perfectly clean bones into the disposal. “And they couldn’t have that.”

Lina laughed over her shoulder. “Lorioth, I’m going to go play with the mice for a little bit—it must be lonely for them, cooped up all the time. I can probably make some observations and record data for some of those experiments you wanted, too. Is that all right?”
“Sure thing,” Lorioth called over his shoulder, and thought no more of it. Lina was a big girl. She could show herself out when the time was right.****** “Oh my God,” Lorioth whispered, and by the look on Alex’s face she’d reached the same conclusion he had. “What if…what if she’s still in there?”
A horrible silence descended on the scene, one that made skin go numb and hurt the mind.
Then Alex sprang into action; quicker than anyone could get her, she ran to the door, swiped her card, and dashed in.
“ALEX!”
Something sparked and snapped; the doors whooshed shut with a sickening finality.
And no matter how many times Lorioth tried to run his card through the machine, he could not get those doors to open.
