Shinoma actually listened to Shyam; his words resonated more truth than her mothers did. But that might have had something to do with the fact that Izusa had laid all her sordid past out in front of the filly as a cautionary tail for her daughter.
Of course in her ego, Shinoma had thought that none of that would ever happen to her; have a family with a goody two-hooves winged? Errrrgh, that was mostly what she thought about that. Lose herself in insanity? That wouldn't happen either. So, she might not listen all the time to her mother, but she respected Shyam and would listen to him.
'Swift and not stupid. Got it.' she grinned up at him. 'I'll do you proud Shyam. I swear on my own blood.'

The stallion laughed, a genuine, heart-felt laugh that tickled him pink. The little foal was a bold creature, and had certainly seemed to enjoy the taste of angeni. With luck she would hold true to her word and happily feast upon the wretched double winged creatures. . . . with luck he had made a new enemy himself.
"I'm sure you'll be more than capable, if you learn the art of the hunt and keep your head on your shoulders." He wasn't completely twisted; foals needed to be encouraged! It wouldn't be easy to kill an angeni, especially one straight from heaven but it wasn't impossible either. It could be done, he had feasted upon the angels himself.
"They can be tricky and vicious fighters all their own, but you can outsmart them, Shinoma; that I have no doubt." His little nub tail swished happily behind him, genuinely pleased he hadn't snapped the shadow-kalona's neck. She was all right, she was one he could allow to live. If she wasn't so bright, well, another creature would snatch her up as a treat before adulthood and the world would continue on. . . .
There were other foals, less deserving, that could be feasted upon. The very thought had his mouth watering and the idea of baby-flesh sounded better the longer he stuck by Shinoma. He couldn't so much nibble on her lest he kill her, or worse, make it impossible for her to kill his holy kin! Nope, she was too special to snack upon.

Shinoma's stomach was grousing at her again, and as she highly doubted that Shyam would let her snack on him anymore (not that she would want to eat him anyway, despite how nice he tasted), it was time for the filly to either find something small on her own, or go annoy her mother for larger fare.
'So, I have to go now, my belly is speaking to me loudly. It wants feeding.' she smiled, shivering her winglets.
'I'll find you again,' the filly promised. She would find him again as well, and hopefully she would be able to tell him that she had done what she said she would. If not, and she had grown by the time they met again, maybe he would join her in hunting.
